Body temperature detection in pigs is vital for effective pig breeding, particularly in large-scale farming where traditional infrared thermal imaging methods typically measure only one pig at a time, leading to inefficient monitoring. This study introduces a novel approach for detecting the body temperature of group-raised pigs by leveraging an image super-resolution (SR) algorithm alongside an instantaneous posture recognition technique. The Porcine-ESRGAN was employed to preprocess thermal infrared images, addressing issues related to low resolution and improving the characterization of target areas. Additionally, an improved You Only Look Once v7 (YOLOv7) based on pig posture classification was proposed and named ITG-YOLOv7. ITG-YOLOv7 was developed to identify the instantaneous posture of pigs and measure their ear root or eye temperature. This approach effectively resolves the challenge of obtaining the temperatures of pigs in a lying position. The ITG-YOLOv7 model integrates multi-scale features through the Scale Sequence Feature Fusion (SSFF) module and optimizes parameters with the Generalized Efficient Layer Aggregation Network (GELAN). The incorporation of Shape-IoU as the anchor box loss function enhances bounding box regression accuracy, thus improving detection precision. Performance assessment of Porcine-ESRGAN using thermal infrared images before and after preprocessing. The processed images significantly improve the detection precision (P), recall (R), and mean average precision (mAP) for lying pigs by 3.1%, 11.5%, and 6.9%, indicating that the method is effective in enhancing the temperature detection accuracy for lying pigs. The proposed ITG-YOLOv7 model achieves an accuracy of 93.2%, a R of 95.4%, and an mAP of 97.5% with a model size of 61.9 MB when used in conjunction with the Porcine-ESRGAN model. Focused on the issues that the sparseness of the data obtained after factorization is reduced and with the increasing of training samples, the computing scale increases rapidly, an incremental learning algorithm based on graph regularized non-negative matrix factorization with sparseness constraints was proposed. It not only considers the geometric structure in the data representation, but also introduces sparseness constraint to coefficient matrix and combines them with incremental learning. Using the results of previous factorization involved in iterative computation with sparseness constraints and graph regularized, the cost of the computation is reduced and the sparseness of data after factorization is highly improved. Experiments on both ORL and PIE face recognition databases demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper presents an underactuated robotic gripper that consists of three fingers. This gripper is driven by seven actuators and capable of grasping a wide range of objects in different working scenarios. A combination of a four-bar mechanism and parallelograms ensures that each finger can provide the basic pinch grasp and power grasp. Detailed fingertip grasping force analysis shows the large payload of this gripper. To fulfill multiple challenging grasping tasks, the fingertip orientation of each finger was designed to be decoupled from the finger flexion motion. Particular emphasis is placed on the environmental contact-based grasp and active transition from the pinch grasp to the power grasp. Detailed analysis shows that the contact-based fingertip grasp could be used to grasp thin objects lying on a flat surface with widths less than 168 mm safely and stably. To prevent over-squeezing of the grasped object in the active transition, the fingertip orientation and finger flexion motion were controlled coordinately. Moreover, a combination of the contact-based grasp and the direct power grasp was also allowed to grasp objects lying on a flat surface and having smooth surfaces robustly. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed gripper in real-world applications. © 2021 IEEE.

A Low-rank Matching Attention based Cross-modal Feature Fusion Method for Conversational Emotion Recognition

Conversational emotion recognition (CER) is an important research topic in human-computer interactions. Although recent advancements in transformer-based cross-modal fusion methods have shown promise in CER tasks, they tend to overlook the crucial intra-modal and inter-modal emotional interaction or suffer from high computational complexity. To address this, we introduce a novel and lightweight cross-modal feature fusion method called Low-Rank Matching Attention Method (LMAM). LMAM effectively captures contextual emotional semantic information in conversations while mitigating the quadratic complexity issue caused by the self-attention mechanism. Specifically, by setting a matching weight and calculating inter-modal features attention scores row by row, LMAM requires only one-third of the parameters of self-attention methods. We also employ the low-rank decomposition method on the weights to further reduce the number of parameters in LMAM. As a result, LMAM offers a lightweight model while avoiding overfitting problems caused by a large number of parameters. Moreover, LMAM is able to fully exploit the intra-modal emotional contextual information within each modality and integrates complementary emotional semantic information across modalities by computing and fusing similarities of intra-modal and inter-modal features simultaneously. Experimental results verify the superiority of LMAM compared with other popular cross-modal fusion methods on the premise of being more lightweight. Also, LMAM can be embedded into any existing state-of-the-art CER methods in a plug-and-play manner, and can be applied to other multi-modal recognition tasks, e.g., session recommendation and humour detection, demonstrating its remarkable generalization ability. Document-level Relation Extraction with Relation Correlations

Document-level relation extraction faces two overlooked challenges: long-tail problem and multi-lab.l problem. Previous work focuses mainly on obtaining better contextual representations for entity pairs, hardly address the above challenges. In this paper, we analyze the co-occurrence correlation of relations, and introduce it into DocRE task for the first time. We argue that the correlations can not only transfer knowledge between data-rich relations and data-scarce ones to assist in the training of tailed relations, but also reflect semantic distance guiding the classifier to identify semantically close relations for multi-lab.l entity pairs. Specifically, we use relation embedding as a medium, and propose two co-occurrence prediction sub-tasks from both coarse- and fine-grained perspectives to capture relation correlations. Finally, the learned correlation-aware embeddings are used to guide the extraction of relational facts. Substantial experiments on two popular DocRE datasets are conducted, and our method achieves superior results compared to baselines. Decoupled Prototype Learning for Reliable Test-Time Adaptation

Test-time adaptation (TTA) is a task that continually adapts a pre-trained source model to the target domain during inference. One popular approach involves fine-tuning model with cross-entropy loss according to estimated pseudo-lab.ls. However, its performance is significantly affected by noisy pseudo-lab.ls. This study reveals that minimizing the classification error of each sample causes the cross-entropy loss’s vulnerability to lab.l noise. To address this issue, we propose a novel Decoupled Prototype Learning (DPL) method that features prototype-centric loss computation. First, we decouple the optimization of class prototypes. For each class prototype, we reduce its distance with positive samples and enlarge its distance with negative samples in a contrastive manner. This strategy prevents the model from overfitting to noisy pseudo-lab.ls. Second, we propose a memory-based strategy to enhance DPL’s robustness for the small batch sizes often encountered in TTA. We update each class’s pseudo-feature from a memory in a momentum manner and insert an additional DPL loss. Finally, we introduce a consistency regularization-based approach to leverage samples with unconfident pseudo-lab.ls. This approach transfers feature styles of samples with unconfident pseudo-lab.ls to those with confident pseudo-lab.ls. Thus, more reliable samples for TTA are created. The experimental results demonstrate that our methods achieve state-of-the-art performance on domain generalization benchmarks, and reliably improve the performance of self-training-based methods on image corruption benchmarks. Energy trading in distributed microgrids represents an effective means of enhancing the utilization of renewable energy. However, the aggregation of large-scale consumption data may encounter business scalab.lity issues and potential privacy exposure concerns, necessitating the development of novel secure and scalab.e frameworks for integrating consumption demands between prosumer and microgrid entities. we research focuses on providing a user-friendly transaction model for consumers and microgrid operators. Firstly, a privacy aggregation scheme for user resource requests is designed to ensure the security and decentralization of user data. In addition, the model employs a bidirectional heterogeneous resource allocation mechanism to support the optimal allocation of multiple resources, such as renewable energy, power assets, energy storage devices, and carbon credits, among different microgrids. Finally, a microgrid transaction prototype has been constructed on the Truffle development framework. In this context, smart contracts has been designed to ensure that the transactions are carried out automatically. Experimental results indicate that the scheme provides enhanced security for multi-resource trading in a cluster context relative to existing methodologies. The number of transactions increases linearly with the resource overhead, resulting in more efficient utilization of energy trading. Furthermore, the framework's scalab.lity has been demonstrated through both temporal and spatial considerations. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Deep neural networks are highly susceptible to overfitting noisy lab.ls, which leads to degraded performance. Existing methods address this issue by employing manually defined criteria, aiming to achieve optimal partitioning in each iteration to avoid fitting noisy lab.ls while thoroughly learning clean samples. However, this often results in overly complex and difficult-to-train models. To address this issue, we decouple the tasks of avoiding fitting incorrect lab.ls and thoroughly learning clean samples and propose a simple yet highly applicable method called Adaptive lab.l Refinement (ALR). First, inspired by lab.l refurbishment techniques, we update the original hard lab.ls to soft lab.ls using the model’s predictions to reduce the risk of fitting incorrect lab.ls. Then, by introducing the entropy loss, we gradually ‘harden’ the high-confidence soft lab.ls, guiding the model to better learn from clean samples. Order-preserving pattern mining with forgetting mechanism

Order-preserving pattern (OPP) mining is a type of sequential pattern mining method in which a group of ranks of time series is used to represent an OPP. This approach can discover frequent trends in time series. Existing OPP mining algorithms consider data points at different time to be equally important;however, newer data usually have a more significant impact, while older data have a weaker impact. We therefore introduce the forgetting mechanism into OPP mining to reduce the importance of older data. This paper explores the mining of OPPs with forgetting mechanism (OPF) and proposes an algorithm called OPF-Miner that can discover frequent OPFs. OPF-Miner performs two tasks, candidate pattern generation and support calculation. In candidate pattern generation, OPF-Miner employs a maximal support priority strategy and a group pattern fusion strategy to avoid redundant pattern fusions. For support calculation, we propose an algorithm called support calculation with forgetting mechanism, which uses prefix and suffix pattern pruning strategies to avoid redundant support calculations. The experiments are conducted on nine datasets and 12 alternative algorithms. The results verify that OPF-Miner is superior to other competitive algorithms. More importantly, OPF-Miner yields good clustering performance for time series, since the forgetting mechanism is employed. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

AutoSTL: Automated Spatio-Temporal Multi-Task Learning

Spatio-temporal prediction plays a critical role in smart city construction. Jointly modeling multiple spatio-temporal tasks can further promote an intelligent city life by integrating their inseparable relationship. However, existing studies fail to address this joint learning problem well, which generally solve tasks individually or a fixed task combination. The challenges lie in the tangled relation between different properties, the demand for supporting flexible combinations of tasks and the complex spatio-temporal dependency. To cope with the problems above, we propose an Automated Spatio-Temporal multi-task Learning (AutoSTL) method to handle multiple spatio-temporal tasks jointly. Firstly, we propose a scalab.e architecture consisting of advanced spatio-temporal operations to exploit the complicated dependency. Shared modules and feature fusion mechanism are incorporated to further capture the intrinsic relationship between tasks. Furthermore, our model automatically allocates the operations and fusion weight. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets verified that our model achieves state-of-the-art performance.
