RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) are essential for gene expression, and the complex RNA-protein interaction mechanisms require analysis of global RNA information. Therefore, accurate prediction of RBP binding sites on full-length RNA transcripts is crucial for understanding these mechanisms and their roles in diseases. While machine learning methods can predict RBP binding to RNA fragments, extending this to full-length transcripts presents challenges due to sequence length and data imbalance. In this paper, we introduce RBP-Former, a binding site joint prediction model designed specifically for full-length RNA transcripts that can be used for multiple RBPs. This model processes information at both coarse and fine-grained levels to fully exploit sequence data and its interactions with multiple RBPs. We develop multi-level imbalance learning strategies, achieving favorable results on imbalanced data. Our method outperforms existing methods in predicting binding sites on full-length RNA transcripts for multiple RBPs, demonstrating its effectiveness in handling imbalanced lab.l and sample distributions. © 2024 IEEE.

It is a positive trend for hemiplegia with wearable robots in rehabilitation training. Recently, wearable Supernumerary Robotic Limb (SRL) is rising to a hot spot. The difficulty in modeling SRL for hemiplegia is how to make the SRL mechanism match the human upper and lower limbs' size and function simultaneously. In this paper, a simplified model of a four Degree of Freedoms (DOFs) universal SRL (USRL) is introduced. Based on workspace similarity, which is evaluated by Jaccard Index (JI), we establish a multi-object optimization (MOO) model. By applying the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, we have found the optimal SRL mechanism parameters that meet the requirement of the human upper limb and the cane simultaneously. Meanwhile, a few impact factors are discussed briefly in the present proposal. The simulation results show that the USRL has a sound match with the human and could assist the hemiplegia subject as a supplemental limb. © 2021 IEEE.

A Novel Dynamic Peer-to-Peer Carbon Right Sharing Scheme for Microgrid Clusters

In this paper, a novel four-level distributed game decision-making framework of dynamic peer-to-peer (P2P) carbon emission right (CER) sharing is proposed for microgrid clusters (MGCs), which consists of four phases: exploration, selection, equilibrium and correction. Firstly, in the exploration stage, the tradable information is published by microgrids (MGs) and an initial set of tradable options is constructed. Secondly, in the selection stage, bilateral transaction coefficients are calculated according to the deficit and surplus of CERs in the P2P carbon market, and then an optimal sharing matching scheme of CERs is designed to reduce invalid transactions. Thirdly, in the equilibrium stage, a P2P carbon right sharing strategy based on the Stackelberg game is proposed to realize the dynamic change in carbon prices and the flexible conversion of master-slave roles in P2P carbon trading, which can promote the popularity of carbon market. Fourthly, in the correction stage, a carbon emission right balancer (CERB) is developed to avoid the imbalance of CERs, and then a billing scheme including incentives and penalties is established to achieve the benefit redistribution after P2P carbon trading. In the end, numerical results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed multi-layer game decision-making framework for P2P carbon right sharing among MGs. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder. The existing assessment method for PD is usually the Movement Disorder Society - Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) to assess the severity of various types of motor symptoms and disease progression. However, manual assessment suffers from high subjectivity, lack of consistency, and high cost and low efficiency of manual communication. We want to use a computer vision based solution to capture human pose images based on a camera, reconstruct and perform motion analysis using algorithms, and extract the features of the amount of motion through feature engineering. The proposed approach can be deployed on different smartphones, and the video recording and artificial intelligence analysis can be done quickly and easily through our APP. Rotating machinery and equipment have a wide range of industrial applications, and it is important to perform intelligent fault detection during their operation. In order to fully capture the multi-scale features of mechanical fault data while solving the degradation problem of deep networks, we propose an intelligent fault detection model combining multi-scale convolution and deep residual networks. We validate it on four publicly availab.e datasets, and the results demonstrate the excellent performance of the proposed method. © 2024 SPIE.

Mobile wheeled inverted pendulum (MWIP) is a typical naturally unstable underactuated system and it is very necessary to constrain its transient response to improve the overall safety. Prescribed performance control (PPC) is an effective method, however the system initial conditions are usually required to be known and constraint, otherwise it can lead to singularity problems. In practical systems, it is often difficult to obtain the exact initial state leading to limitations in the application of PPC. To overcome this issue, this paper presented a composite error transformation function to address the problem of initial condition dependence. A continuous bounded function was designed to compress the arbitrary initial error into the predefined bound to avoid singularities. After a set time, it was degraded to an original system error. Based on this composite transformation, a state feedback controller was proposed for the underactuated MWIP system to achieve the constraint outputs. Then, by employing the Lyapunov theorem, it was guaranteed that the closed-loop system would remain stable. Various numerical simulations under different initial conditions were carried out to prove the validity of the proposed controller. © 2023 IEEE.

Today, the world economy is in the stage of rapid development, followed by the rising quantity, the decreasing moisture content, and the increasing heat value of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). Since waste incineration has the advantages of excellent volume reduction effect, high resource utilization efficiency, and less secondary pollution to the environment, waste incineration disposal technology has received extensive attention worldwide. With the continuous increase of the urban population, the amount of sewage sludge is growing year by year. The process of the sludge incineration system is highly complicated, and the cost of construction and operation is high. The waste incinerator can process not only MSW but also sewage sludge. Therefore, the co-incineration of sewage sludge with MSW in the existing waste incinerator is a safe and effective way to dispose of sewage sludge. In this paper, the simulation results of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) are analyzed for medium-scale and large-scale waste incinerators, characterized by high moisture content, high ash content, low heat value of sewage sludge, and incomplete combustion and high pollutant emissions in waste incinerators. With FLIC-Fluent coupled simulation method, the critical information such as temperature field, velocity field, concentration field of principal components, and the pollutant emissions can be predicted. Based on the CFD simulation results, the performance and structure of waste incinerators can be optimized, and the new products can be designed and developed. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. In the fields of information security, the application of random numbers is becoming more and more widespread. True random numbers (TRNs) tend to have better randomness and unpredictability than pseudo random numbers (PRNs). Chaotic systems are very suitable for constructing true random number generators (TRNG) due to their periodic infinity, randomicity, long-term unpredictability, high sensitivity to initial values and parameters, etc. However, when chaotic systems are implemented by finite state machines, their dynamic characteristics will disappear, such as periodic infinity and initial value sensitivity, and there are serious safety concerns about the random number generator designed on this basis. In order to address the degradation problem of the chaotic systems, this paper proposes a true random number generator based on the chaotic circuit, implements a complete hardware system, and tests its randomness. © 2022 SPIE.

Surrogate-Assisted Multiobjective Gene Selection for Cell Classification from Large-Scale Single-Cell RNA Sequencing Data

Accurate cell classification is crucial but expensive for large-scale single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis. Gene selection (GS) emerges as a pivotal technique in identifying gene subsets of scRNA-seq for classification accuracy improvement and gene scale reduction. Nevertheless, the rising scale of scRNA-seq data presents challenges to existing GS methods regarding performance and computational time. Thus, we propose a surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm for multiobjective GS to address these deficiencies. An innovative two-phase initialization method is proposed to select sparse solutions to provide preliminary insights into gene contributions. Then, a binary competitive swarm optimizer is proposed for effective global search, where a local search method is embedded to eliminate irrelevant genes for efficiency consideration. Additionally, a surrogate model is adopted to forecast classification accuracy efficiently and substitutes part of the computationally expensive classification process. Experiments are conducted on eight large-scale scRNA-seq datasets with more than 20,000 genes. The effectiveness of the proposed GS method for scRNA-seq cell classification compared with eight state-of-the-art methods is validated. Gene expression analysis results of selected genes further validated the significance of the genes selected by the proposed method in the classification of scRNA-seq data. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

Microgrids subjected to secondary cooperative control encounter significant challenges, including operational constraints and clock drifts, adversely affecting their stability and efficiency. This paper provides conditions that assure optimal microgrid performance in both transient and steady-state scenarios, focusing on the effects of clock drifts and fluctuations in load. Furthermore, we introduce a novel approach for designing secondary control parameters, specifically engineered to minimize steady-state discrepancies attributable to clock drifts while ensuring adherence to standards for transient operations. Comprehensive experimental validations corroborate the effectiveness of our proposed solutions. © 2024 IEEE.
