Recent progress in Kalman filters to estimate states and parameters in nonlinear systems has provided the possibility of applying such approaches to neural systems. We here apply the nonlinear method of unscented Kalman filters (UKFs) to observe states and estimate parameters in a neural mass model that can simulate distinct rhythms in electroencephalography (EEG) including dynamical evolution during epilepsy seizures. We demonstrate the efficiency of the UKF in estimating states and parameters. We also develop an UKF-based control strategy to modulate the dynamics of the neural mass model. In this strategy the UKF plays the role of observing states, and the control law is constructed via the estimated states. We demonstrate the feasibility of using such a strategy to suppress epileptiform spikes in the neural mass model.

Link duration determines the performance of many vehicular applications, especially for urban vehicular wireless communication networks. However, the theoretical analysis on link properties is always complicated, since parameters that should be considered include the inter-vehicle distance, the vehicle speed, the turning ratios in the intersection, the influence of traffic lights in the intersections, and the signal decay caused by the roadside buildings etc. To reduce the analytical complexity, most of the previous works proposed preliminary analysis on link duration property by considering some parameters. Even though some works considered all parameters, their assumptions on the parameters setting were somewhat ideal. For example, the events of meeting traffic lights for two consecutive vehicles in a communication route path were always assumed independent with each other, which is different from the actual situations. This paper proposes a discrete Markov process-based analytical model on link duration by considering a relatively complete set of parameters, including the influence of the inter-vehicle distance, vehicle speed, turning ratios in the intersection, traffic lights in the intersection, and the non-line-of-sight transmission for the intersection. Especially, the theoretical study on the link duration is based on a more realistic traffic lights scenario description model. Finally, simulations are carried to verify the accuracy of our analytical work.

In this paper, we established three new six-dimensional complex chaotic systems and one new ten-dimensional complex chaotic system. The regularity to generate high-dimensional chaotic system is also found by overlaying a series of low-dimensional chaotic systems with Duffing chaotic system. The circiuts of the new high-dimensional complex chaotic system are designed. The simulation experiments of the high-dimensional complex chaotic circuits are tested. This paper proposes a fuzzy PI hybrid speed controller for a PMSLM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Linear Motor), which is based on a friction disturbance observer. It can improve the problems caused by the friction disturbance and the system parameters perturbation. Also the problem of the blind area for fuzzy control is eventually eliminated, because of the introduction of the PI control. Finally, through the simulation test and comparative analysis with the traditional PID control method, the validity and rationality of the control scheme is illustrated.

Relay selection (RS) and power control are two essential parts in cooperative cognitive relay network. RS is equal to power control in the condition that a relay cooperates with its full power or doesn't cooperate at all. So the optimal signal-to noise ratio (SNR) value is described as a 0-1 nonlinear programming integer problem (NLIP). In this paper, a multiple relay selection (MRS) scheme based on artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC) is proposed that can fully obtain optimal SNR value. Simulations show the performance of MRS scheme by ABC algorithm is better than that of exhaustive search, single RS scheme and other sub optimal MRS schemes.

Base on the the high performance requirements of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) speed servo system for non-sinusoidal oscillation control system of continuous casting mold, a global dynamic sliding mode(GDSM) control method is proposed, The reaching law of the sliding mode is designed by exponential fast terminal sliding mode(EFTSM) method and the controllers could effectively diminish chattering by designing the first derivative of control output which contains discontinuous function of sliding mode control; Considers the time variation of parameters perturbation and load disturbance of PMSM, a extended state observer (ESO) is constructed to observe the dynamic observation of total system perturbation and conduct feedforward compensation; theoretical analysis shows that the closed-loop system is global bounded stability; The simulated results show that the static and dynamic performance of the PMSM speed servo control system can be significantly improved by using the proposed method.
