In this paper, an Administrable Shortcut transmission (AST) scheme in two-hop relay networks which enables two Subscriber Stations (SSs) within the same Relay Station (RS) communicate directly via RS's forwarding has been investigated. The scenario of AST scheme in two-hop relay networks and a path selection algorithm based on the minimum slot number with AST scheme are put forward. The simulation results show that the system performance is improved significantly with the increase of the probability of AST scheme taken into account. Therefore, AST scheme could be a potential technology for improving system performance in next generation wireless networks.

A new construction method of two-dimensional (2D) variable-weight optical orthogonal codes (VWOOCs) is proposed for high-speed optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) networks supporting multiple qualities of services (QoS). The proposed codes have at most one-pulse per wavelength (AM-OPPW) property. An upper bound of the codeword cardinality of the 2D VWOOCs with AM-OPPW property is derived. It is then shown that the constructed codes have ideal correlation properties and optimal cardinality. Moreover, the code length and the bit-error-rate (BER) performance of the proposed codes are compared with those of the codes proposed previously.

In order to efectively reduce the “decoding latency” of successive cancellation decoding aided Fano(SC-Fano) decoder employed in polarization-adjusted convolutional(PAC) codes, a fast parallel SCFano decoding algorithm is designed, which leverages multiple individual decoding components. Critical challenges arise from how to appropriately initialize the thresholds of diferent SC-Fano decoding components and how will these decoding components cooperate with each other. After appropriately overcoming these challenges, our design is capable of halving the “decoding latency” without incurring any noticeable frame error rate(FER) performance degradation, meanwhile, the overall computational complexity is normally constrained below one and a half times of that required by conventional SC-Fano decoders in simulated typical configurations.

GSM-R (GSM for Railway) network is a professional cellular network which is used for railway transportation. Unlike mobiles with low speed in regular GSM network, in GSM-R network the signals received by mobiles on high speed trains may suffer severe Doppler shift and other interferences. Therefore, measurement of these tainted signals may cause wrong handover decisions, leading to lower probability of successful handover, hence the safety and reliability of GSM-R network are reduced significantly. In this paper, a novel handover scheme with relay technique in GSM-R network is proposed, which involves measurement of signals from relay stations in handover process. Numerical results show that the outage rate of handover using this new scheme is obviously smaller than that without relay stations, thus higher probability of successful handover is achieved.
