With the exponential increase of the number of devices in the communication ecosystem toward the upcoming sixth generation (6G) of wireless networks, more enabling technologies and potential wireless architectures are necessary to fulfill the networking requirements of high throughput, massive connectivity, ultra reliability, and heterogeneous quality of service (QoS). In this work, we consider an uplink network consisting of a primary user (PU) and a secondary user (SU) and, by integrating the concept of cognitive radio and multiple access, two protocols based on rate-splitting multiple access and non-orthogonal multiple access with successive interference cancellation are investigated in terms of ergodic rate. The considered protocols aim to serve the SU in a resource block which is originally allocated solely for the PU without negatively affecting the QoS of the PU. We extract the ergodic rate of the SU considering a specific QoS for the PU for the two protocols. In the numerical results, we validate the theoretical analysis and illustrate the superiority of the considered protocols over two benchmark schemes. © 2022, CC BY.

The internal distribution unevenness of current and heat in zinc oxide varistor under high current impulse, resulting in an increase in internal stress. In this paper, an experimental platform was built to acqurie the critical energy density of the failure of the varistor under different waveforms. The experimental results indicate that the critical energy density of the 2 ms square impulse is significantly higher than that of the 4/10 μs impulse, which is about 1.76 times. There is a certain difference in the proportion of failure phenomena under different waveforms. Under the 2 ms square impulse, the varistor will have puncture phenomenon. Under the 4/10 μs impulse experiment, the varistor mainly has two failure phenomena: flashover and cracking. An experimental circuit of hysteresis loop was built to obtain the magnetic permeability of the ZnO varistor under different frequencies. The results indicate that the permeability of the zinc oxide varistor decreased from 267 to 52 with the frequency increases from 100 Hz to 10,000 Hz. The finite element simulation model was established to simulate the current characteristics of the varistor under different current waveforms. The simulation results show that the amplitude of the stress under the 4/10 μs impulse current is much larger than that under the 2ms square wave, which is about 4000 times when the energy density is closely. The energy density under different impulse currents is quite different. The analysis shows that the internal stress of ZnO varistors is more significant under high frequency impulse current. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper studies enhanced dense code multiple access (DCMA) system design for downlink transmission over the Nakagami-m fading channels. By studying the DCMA pairwise error probability (PEP) in a Nakagami-m channel, a novel design metric called minimum logarithmic sum distance (MLSD) is first derived. With respect to the proposed MLSD, we introduce a new family of power-imbalanced dense codebooks by deleting certain rows of a special non-unimodular circulant matrix. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed dense codebooks lead to both larger minimum Euclidean distance and MLSD, thus yielding significant improvements of error performance over the existing sparse code multiple access and conventional unimodular DCMA schemes in Nakagami-m fading channels under different overloading factors. In this paper, we consider the joint beamforming design in secure integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) systems, where the active eavesdropper intercepts the transmitted confidential information with an external passive eavesdropper. To improve the sensing performance while preventing the potential eavesdropping, the base station transmits a signal consisting of information symbols and sensing waveform, in which the sensing waveform is also used as artificial noise to interfere with eavesdroppers. Under this setup, we formulate the communication and sensing beamforming design problem, which aims to enhance the transmit beampattern performance, while ensuring the quality of service (QoS) of communication transmission and the secure communication constraint. Furthermore, we propose the semi-definite relaxation (SDR) algorithm to solve the non-convex problem. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme in both sensing and secure communication.

The zinc oxide surge arrester is an important barrier to protect the power system from lightning, and maintaining its good thermal stability is of great significance for its safe operation. In this paper, the model of lightning arrester is established by finite element, the simulation calculation of the electrical-thermal characteristics under the impact of lightning current and large current is studied, the heating and heat dissipation characteristics of the arrester under different conditions are obtained, and the arrester is found in different environments Maximum operating temperature at temperature. And through the joint pressurization test, the temperature of the resistor sheet when the arrester thermally collapses under actual conditions is found, and the test results are in agreement with the simulation results. The research results show that if the zinc oxide resistor has a large amount of heat, poor heat dissipation from the resistor, and uneven electric field distribution, the arrester will reach the limit operating temperature. When the limit temperature is exceeded, the arrester will soon fall into thermal collapse and thermal fusion will occur. Wear, crack, and explode. Therefore, effective measures must be taken to improve the thermal stability of zinc oxide surge arresters. © 2021 IEEE.

Traffic prediction based on time series analysis methods that are low-cost and low computational complexity can offer more efficient resource management and better QoS. Although exponential smoothing is such a kind of method, there is a lack of application in cellular networks and data traffic research, especially with the robust development of mobile Internet applications nowadays. Therefore, this study provides a comprehensive research on cellular network traffic prediction using exponential smoothing methods. More cases of traffic including voice and data in different time granularities as well as different domains compared with other studies are considered. Besides, more exponential smoothing methods are simultaneously investigated for different cases of traffic. Our multiple case study approach leads to a more convincing result of choosing the best fit model. Data collected from real commercial cellular networks is used for experiments to make the results more practical and persuasively. In our experiment method, the model has the lowest RMSE value is chosen among three types of method. The experiment results show that exponential smoothing methods outperform multiplicative seasonal ARIMA, which is slower and more complex in computation in all cases, so they should be recommended for traffic prediction. © 2019 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

With the continuous increase of IoT devices, multiple devices desire to use network resources simultaneously during peak hours and overload conditions, leading to collisions and a reduction in the network’s effective throughput. The Access Class Barring (ACB) method has been proposed as the optimal potential solution in LTE communication networks to overcome this problem. However, existing ACB schemes do not fully utilize preamble resources, and most schemes do not consider the situation where PUSCH resources are limited. Therefore, this paper proposes a two-stage ACB algorithm that considers the situation of limited PUSCH resources. This algorithm recycles part of the preamble resources and sets the ACB factor based on the number of PUSCH resources. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm significantly outperforms traditional schemes in terms of total service time, delay, throughput, and PUSCH resource efficiency.

DNA-based data storage has been attracting significant attention due to its extremely high data storage density, low power consumption, and long duration compared to conventional data storage media. Despite the recent advancements in DNA data storage technology, significant challenges remain. In particular, various types of errors can occur during the processes of DNA synthesis, storage, and sequencing, including substitution errors, insertion errors, and deletion errors. Furthermore, the entire oligo may be lost. In this work, we report a DNA-based data storage architecture that incorporates efficient channel coding schemes, including different types of error-correcting codes (ECCs) and constrained codes, for both the inner coding and outer coding for the DNA data storage channel. We also carried out large scale experiments to validate our proposed DNA-based data storage architecture. Specifically, 1.61 and 1.69 MB data were encoded into 30,000 oligos each, with information densities of 1.731 and 1.815, respectively. It has been found that the stored information can be fully recovered without any error at average coverages of 4.5 and 6.0, respectively. This experiment achieved the highest net information density and lowest coverage among existing DNA-based data storage experiments (with standard DNA), with data recovery rates and coverage approaching theoretical optima. In vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications, reliability is one of the most important performance metrics in safety-critical applications such as advanced driving, remote driving, and vehicle platooning. In this paper, the link reliability of unicast concurrent transmission in mode 1 (centralized mode) of 5G New Radio based V2X (NR-V2X) is analyzed. The closed-form expression of link reliability for concurrent unicast transmission is firstly derived for a highway scenario under a given interference distance distribution. On this basis, according to the macroscopic configuration of the system, a method to control the number of concurrent transmission nodes is proposed, including the communication range, message packet size, and the number of lanes, etc. The results indicate that the proposed method can maximize the system load on the premise of satisfying the link reliability requirements.
