The paper studies the multi-cell cooperation scheme under the time and frequency doubly selective channels, in which the multi-cell co-channel interference are jointly eliminated with the inter-symbol interference to enhance the transmission reception. The basic idea of interference alignment is exploited, with which the link-level interference and network-level interference are aligned to the same dimension before canceled. Instead of assuming the perfect channel information is availab.e at the receivers, an embedded pilot framework is also proposed to track and update the channel state information every short time period, making the proposed scheme more feasible for practical application. Additionally, the pilot design is also discussed and an optimal embedded pilot scheme is derived.

In this paper, we explore the energy efficiency (EE) and spectral efficiency (SE) tradeoff with α-fairness consideration for downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks based on a multi-objective optimization problem. To acquire the Pareto optimal solution of the original optimization problem, the weighted sum method is adopted to transfer the multi- objective optimization problem to a single-objective optimization problem. The trade-off between SE and EE with fairness considered can be captured through the Pareto optimal solution. Simulation results reveal the achievable SE and EE with same α of NOMA networks outperform that of OFDMA protocol as α is small, and the NOMA networks with more multiplexed users have better performance in EE and SE of NOMA networks as the fairness level among users is higher. © 2018 IEEE.

In this paper, the bit error rate (BER) performance of spatial modulation (SM) systems is investigated both theoretically and by simulation in a non-stationary Kronecker-based massive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) channel model in multi-user (MU) scenarios. Massive MIMO SM systems are considered in this paper using both a time-division multiple access (TDMA) scheme and a block diagonalization (BD) based precoding scheme, for different system settings. Their performance is compared with a vertical Bell lab. layered space-time (V-BLAST) architecture based system and a conventional channel inversion system. It is observed that a higher cluster evolution factor can result in better BER performance of SM systems due to the low correlation among sub-channels. Compared with the BD-SM system, the SM system using the TDMA scheme obtains a better BER performance but with a much lower total system data rate. The BD-MU-SM system achieves the best trade-off between the data rate and the BER performance among all of the systems considered. When compared with the V-BLAST system and the channel inversion system, SM approaches offer advantages in performance for MU massive MIMO systems. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

To support the demand of multi-Gbps sensory data exchanges for enhancing (semi)-autonomous driving, millimeter-wave bands (mmWave) vehicular-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications have attracted intensive attention. Unfortunately, the vulnerability to blockages over mmWave bands poses significant design challenges, which can be hardly addressed by manipulating end transceivers, such as beamforming techniques. In this paper, we propose to enhance mmWave V2I communications by augmenting the transmission environments through reflection, where highly-reflective cheap metallic plates are deployed as tunable reflectors without damaging the aesthetic nature of the environments. In this way, alternative indirect line-of-sight (LOS) links are established by adjusting the angle of reflectors. Our fundamental challenge is to adapt the time-consuming reflector angle tuning to the highly dynamic vehicular environment. By using deep reinforcement learning, we propose the Learning-based Fast Reflection (LFR) algorithm, which autonomously learns from the observable traffic pattern to select desirable reflector angles in advance for probably blocked vehicles in near future. Simulation results demonstrate our proposal could effectively augment mmWave V2I transmission environments with significant performance gain.

A dual symmetric gauss-seidel alternating direction method of multipliers for hyperspectral sparse unmixing

Since sparse unmixing has emerged as a promising approach to hyperspectral unmixing, some spatial-contextual information in the hyperspectral images has been exploited to improve the performance of the unmixing recently. The total variation (TV) has been widely used to promote the spatial homogeneity as well as the smoothness between adjacent pixels. However, the computation task for hyperspectral sparse unmixing with a TV regularization term is heavy. Besides, the convergences of the traditional sparse unmixing algorithms which are special cases of the primal alternating direction method of multipliers (pADMM) have not been explained in details. In this paper, we design an efficient and convergent dual symmetric Gauss-Seidel ADMM (sGS-ADMM) for hyperspectral sparse unmixing with a TV regularization term. We also present the global convergence and local linear convergence rate analysis for the traditional sparse unmixing algorithm and our algorithm. As demonstrated in numerical experiments, our algorithm can obviously improve the efficiency of the unmixing compared with the state-of-The-Art algorithm. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a promising radio access technology for the 5G wireless systems. The core of NOMA is to support multiple users in the same resource block via power or code domain multiplexing, which provides great enhancement in spectrum efficiency and connectivity. Meanwhile, with the recent advance in self-interference (SI) cancelation techniques, full duplex (FD) wireless communication has become a feasible technology enabling radios to receive and transmit simultaneously. This article aims to investigate the combination of these two emerging technologies. At first, several typical scenarios and protocols are presented to illustrate the application of FD technique in NOMA systems. Then, a novel NOMA system with FD base stations (BSs) based on centralized radio access networks (C-RAN) is proposed. Furthermore, power allocation policies are discussed for the proposed scheme, and simulation results are provided to demonstrate its superiority. Finally, challenges and research opportunities of FD NOMA systems are also identified to stimulate the future research. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

New quaternary sequences of even length with optimal auto-correlation

Sequences with low auto-correlation property have been applied in code-division multiple access communication systems, radar and cryptography. Using the inverse Gray mapping, a quaternary sequence of even length N can be obtained from two binary sequences of the same length, which are called component sequences. In this paper, using interleaving method, we present several classes of component sequences from twin-prime sequences pairs or GMW sequences pairs given by Tang and Ding in 2010; or two, three or four binary sequences defined by cyclotomic classes of order 4. Hence we can obtain new classes of quaternary sequences, which are different from known ones, since known component sequences are constructed from a pair of binary sequences with optimal auto-correlation or Sidel'nikov sequences.

Massive connectivity and safety guarantee are two main challenges in 5G vehicular communication networks. In this paper, we proposed a 5G vehicular communication network which provides active road safety application, traffic efficiency application and infotainment application at the same time. For V2V communications, we exploit SCMA(Sparse Code Multiple Access) and full-duplex to provide massive connectivity, which are also promising to reduce the transmission latency and improve the spectrum efficiency. For V2I communications, OFDMA and half- duplex technologies are adopted for traffic efficiency information transmission and entertainment content transmission. Besides, software-defined networking (SDN) and wireless network virtualization (WNV) are also exploited to slice the network into multiple independent slices, which isolates the road safety application from other applications. Then we proposed virtual resource allocation scheme, in which the absolute priority mechanism is applied to ensure the successful transmission of road safety information. The centralized scheduling and virtual resource allocation problem is formulated, and a Lagrangian dual algorithm is developed, which converges to a stable resource allocation scheme after a limited number of iterations. Simulation results show that the proposed mixed SCMA/OFDMA scheme outperforms the traditional orthogonal multiple access scheme in terms of system throughput.
