POSTER: STAR (Space-Time Adaptive and Reductive) Algorithms for Real-World Space-Time Optimality

It's important to hit a space-time balance for a real-world algorithm to achieve high performance on modern shared-memory multi-core or many-core systems. However, a large class of dynamic programs with more than $O(1)$ dependency achieve optimality either in space or time, but not both. In the literature, the problem is known as the fundamental space-time tradeoff. By exploiting properly on the runtime system, we show that our STAR (Space-Time Adaptive and Reductive) technique can help these dynamic programs to achieve sublinear parallel time bounds while still maintaining work-, space-, and cache-optimality in a processor- and cache-oblivious fashion. © 2017 ACM.

The novel adaptive filtering algorithm based on the analysis of the detail images obtained from the wavelet decomposition of the original noisy image is proposed in the paper. The base idea is to compute the wavelet decomposition of the noisy image to reduce the amplitude of insignificant detail coefficients in the wavelet subspaces by selecting an adaptive filter window of size, the adaptive windowing algorithm was introduced where the window size is automatically adjusted depending on the samples statistics in the boundary of this window such as mean z and standard deviation σz, and then utilizing modified 2nd order Lee filtering. One of the advantages of this approach over the traditional speckle filtering method is the fact that textures are preserved while speckle is reduced. Experimental simulations by real SAR images show it are effective. © 2007 IEEE.

Contourlet transform is the combination of the multi-scale analysis and multi-directional analysis in processing high-dimensional signals and has better approximation precision and better sparse description. Firstly, Using the Contourlet transform, several polarimetric images can be decomposed into low-frequency coefficients and high-frequency coefficients with multi-scales and multi-directions. For the low-frequency coefficients, the average fusion method is used. For the each directional high frequency sub-band coefficients, the larger value of region variance information measurement is used to select the better coefficients for fusion. At last the fused image can be obtained by utilizing inverse transform for fused contourlet coefficients. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm works better in preserving the edges and texture information compared with the traditional image fusion algorithms. © 2011 IEEE.

A novel and efficient improving PWF method of speckle reduction in Polarimetrie SAR image by fusion based on nonsubsampled contourlet transform is proposed. First, the three complex elements (HH, HV, and W) of the Polarimetric scattering matrix were decorrelated to form a new elements matrix. Then we show that the sub-band decompositions of the three elements using nonsubsampled contourlet transform, and fusion factor is applied to the decomposed directional high-frequency coefficients to create new sub-band coefficients. Finally, we process and reconstruct multi-resolution contourlet coefficients according to the PWF method. Experimental results show that compared with PWF de-speckling algorithm, the proposed algorithm can achieve an excellent balance between suppresses speckle effectively and preserves image details, and the significant information of original image like textures and contour details is well maintained. © 2008 IEEE.

A novel strategy termed as mutation history learning strategy (MHLS) is proposed in this paper. In MHLS, a vector called mutation memory is introduced for each antibody and a new type of mutation operation based on mutation memory is also designed. The vector of mutation memory is learned from a certain antibody's iteration history and used as guidance for its further evolution. The learning and usage of history information, which is absent from immune clonal selection algorithm (CSA), is shown to be an efficient measure to guide the direction of the evolution and accelerate algorithm's converging speed. Experimental results show that MHLS improves the performance of CSA greatly in dealing with the function optimization problems. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.

The paper proposes a noise reduction algorithm based on symplectic Geometric Mode Decomposition (SGMD) and Savitzky-Golay (SG)filtering to address the issue of noise interference during signal transmission. Firstly, the noisy signal is decomposed using symplectic geometric mode decomposition to obtain several symplectic geometric components. The component with less noise is then selected and superimposed based on its energy entropy. Finally, the reconstructed signal undergoes denoising through SG filtering. The proposed method is applied to conduct comparison experiments on noise reduction for linear frequency modulation signals and multicomponent periodic signals. The results demonstrate a significant noise reduction effect of the proposed method, which holds great significance for signal analysis and research on noise reduction. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper designs a broadband circularly polarized antenna covering the 25 GHz to 31 GHz band. The Vivaldi antenna is used as the basic structure to generate broadband electromagnetic waves;circular polarization is achieved by feeding through a circularly polarized bridge;a metal choke ring is used at the bottom to ensure the low side lobes of the antenna. The antenna consists of four basic Vivaldi antennas, a metal choke ring, a grounded substrate, and a feed network. The results show that the antenna covers the entire frequency band when the axial ratio is lower than 3 dB, and the impedance matching is better. The use of a choke ring structure ensures that the antenna electromagnetic waves are radiated upward, resulting in higher gain and lower side lobes. The highest gain in the included frequency band is 11.4 dB, and the simulation result is good. The antenna has high gain and low sidelobe characteristics. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

With the expansion of the Web, automatically organizing large scale text resources, e.g. Web pages, becomes very important. Many Web sites, like Google and Yahoo, use hierarchical classification trees to organize text resources in Web. User can easily find the text resources that meet their requirements by navigating these hierarchical classification trees. Typically, the text resources in Web are manually assigned to the nodes of the hierarchical classification tree. This limits the hierarchical classification tree to organize large scale text resources. In this paper, we propose a Frequent Term Tree to improve the ability of hierarchical classification tree in organizing large scale text resources in Web. Different from the Fp-tree [17] which is utilized to efficiently discover frequent patterns, the frequent term tree is used to organize resources with frequent pattern based classification. The Frequent Term Tree can accurately assign text resources to each node of classification tree and improve the ability in organizing resources with the incremental classified text resources. The evaluation of the Frequent Term Tree demonstrates that Frequent Term Tree can effectively and efficiently organize text resources. © 2009 IEEE.

A miniaturized filtering power divider with wide stopband based on quarter-mode substrate integrated waveguide (QMSIW) is proposed. The physical size of the QMSIW is reduced by 3/4 comparing with the traditional SIW structure, which can achieve miniaturization, and its electromagnetic field distribution has little effect. Using the metal interference column and the etched U-shaped groove to adjust the resonance frequency, so that the main mode and the first higher mode form a passband, meanwhile, suppressing the second higher mode. The simulation results show that the center frequency is 4.42 GHz with insertion loss of 0.45 dB, the 3-dB bandwidth is 4.12-4.63 GHz with a fractional bandwidths of 9.7%, and there is a great stopband up to 11 GHz with 15 dB rejection level. Besides, the return loss of passband is better than 17.5 dB. To verify the validity of this design, a prototype is fabricated and measured. The measured results demonstrate that it has a good agreement with the design simulations. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In recent years, semantic search has become one hot motivation of the semantic web. In this paper, we propose a semantic-based resource management and search architecture and its implementation in research community, including most of the research relevant resources. We have built two authoring tools respectively for concepts and instances. With the authoring tools, semantic search portal is provided, which has three different interfaces, respectively for retrieval of concept , instance and semantic relationship. Compared with the traditional search methods, semantic search methodology not only gives us more interesting and satisfying search results, whose precision is higher than those of traditional ones only based on keywords, but also displays the results in a more structural and semantic way. © 2006 IEEE.
