As a frequently-used dimensionality reduction technique in machine learning, feature selection has attracted interests in the last decade. Since feature selection is essentially a combinatorial optimization problem, how to search the valuable feature subset is a challenging optimization task. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and its variations have shown their competitiveness in solving feature selection problem. However, they have been proven to be easily trapped into the local optimal in high-dimensional space due to their intrinsic characteristic of quick convergence. To this end, an effective binary particle swarm optimization algorithm, named CBPSOFS, is proposed for feature selection, where a community-grouping based adaptive updating strategy is designed to avoid trapping into the local optimum and enhance the performance of PSO algorithm in feature selection. To be specific, the correlationship among features is used to construct the feature network, where multiple feature groups are obtained by dividing the achieved feature network. Considering that a community usually contains multiple similar features, the proposed adaptive updating strategy utilizes these feature groups to make the similar features not be included in the same particle so as to maintain the diversity of the population in the evolution. In addition, an information gain based initialization strategy and a history information based resetting strategy are also developed to improve the quality of obtained feature subset. Experimental results on several real world datasets have demonstrated the effectiveness of CBPSOFS in feature selection when compared with the several state-of-the-art baselines.

In order to meet the requirements of the navigation system for antennas with wide 3-dB AR beam-width, this paper proposes an axial-ratio beam-width enhancement of antenna based on electromagnetic bandgap (EBG). The effect of surface wave on the circular polarization of the antenna is suppressed by loading two layers of mushroom-like EBG unit cells around the patch. The loading of the EBG increases the 3-dB AR beam-width of the antenna by 78% in the xoz plane and the by 84% in the yoz plane, the simulation and test results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.

A low-profile circularly polarized Metasurfaces antenna based on compact coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed was proposed. The Metasurfaces consists of 16 periodic square-cut metal patches. An hourglass coupled slot was adopted to achieve broadband impedance matching. The antenna has a simple structure and a low cross section, and it can be implemented by a layer of a printed circuit substrate. A circular polarized wave is generated by changing the size of the cut angle of the Metasurfaces, and at the same time, the impedance bandwidth can be widened. To verify the simulation results, a 1λ 0 ×1λ 0 ×0.05λ 0 (at 10 GHz) model antenna was fabricated and measured. The simulation and measurement results show good consistency. The test results show that the -10dB return loss bandwidth reaches 45.3 %, and the circular polarization axis ratio(AR) is less than 3dB with a bandwidth of 18.5%.

This paper proposes a dual-band antenna based on the electromagnetic band gap structure suitable for WLAN communication systems. The proposed antenna is designed to work at 2.45/5.8 GHz WLAN band. By loading the EBG structure directly below a dual-frequency monopole antenna, the in-phase superposition of electromagnetic waves at the center frequency of the antenna is achieved. The antenna exhibits high gains of near 8.0 and 12.0 dB at the low and high working frequencies while maintaining the low profile characteristics.

We propose a scheme to demonstrate the manipulation of space-dependent four-wave mixing (FWM) in a four-level atomic system. By adjusting the detuning of the control field, one can effectively control the FWM output field transferred from a pump beam carrying orbital angular momentum. More interestingly, by appropriate choice of the intensity of the control field, the FWM field can be significantly enhanced and phase twist is almost completely suppressed. Furthermore, the superposition modes created by the interference between the FWM field and a same-frequency Gaussian beam are also discussed, showing many interesting properties. Our results may open some possibilities for phase imprinting in Bose-Einstein condensates or atom manipulation with optical tweezers.

A hybrid twelve-antenna array operating in the 3.3-3.6 GHz and 4.8-5.0 GHz band for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) applications in 5G smartphones is proposed. The proposed hybrid antenna array elements are symmetrically placed along the long edges of the smartphone, and they are composed of two inverted-F antennas (IFA) with different structural parameters. Simulated antenna isolation is better than -14.5 dB without any decoupling structures. Moreover, simulated radiation patterns, antenna efficiencies, and envelop correlation coefficients are also given in the paper.

With the development of Internet of Thlngs(IoT) technology, the Mobile Edge computing (MEC) environment plays an important role in different scenarios. This paper focus on the "last-mile" delivery scenario in logistics. In this scenario, due to the limited computation ability of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), high real-time and computational resource-intensive tasks such as obstacle avoidance, route planning, and face recognition are require the assistance by MEC computing resources. However, due to the limited computing power of edge servers, the computing tasks of neural networks has very high delay. It cause the deadline of neural networks computation task may not be satisfied. Besides with the users and environment changed continuously, the neural nework take a long time to update which may affect the work of UAV. Therefore, It is an critical problem to accelerate the calculation and update of neural network on edge server. This paper proposes an attribute reduction algorithm based on rough set, which can reduce redundant attributes and compress the dimensionality of data. The experimental results show that can accelerate the calculation and update of neural network significantly and save the energy consumption.

We explore a notion of bent sequence attached to the data consisting of an Hadamard matrix of order n defined over the complex qth roots of unity, an eigenvalue of that matrix, and a Galois automorphism from the cyclotomic field of order q. In particular we construct self-dual bent sequences for various q ≤ 60 and lengths n ≤ 21. Computational construction methods comprise the resolution of polynomial systems by Groebner bases and eigenspace computations. Infinite families can be constructed from regular Hadamard matrices, Bush-type Hadamard matrices, and generalized Boolean bent functions. As an application, we estimate the covering radius of the code attached to that matrix over Zq. We derive a lower bound on that quantity for the Chinese Euclidean metric when bent sequences exist. We give the Euclidean distance spectrum, and bound above the covering radius of an attached spherical code, depending on its strength as a spherical design. © 2023, CC BY.

With the increasing number of patents, the task of patent citation recommendation becomes more and more important and meaningful. The core of a patent is textual content, which describes technical ideas and scope of the protection. Therefore, most of the existing patent citation recommendation methods focus on textual content. Recently, some scholars introduce bibliographic (structural) data to construct heterogeneous information network (HIN) on the basis of textual content to further improve the effect of recommendation. Most of these methods build HIN directly based on candidate patents selected in advance according to text similarity, which simplifies the complexity of the problem. However, the latent semantic relationships between patents formed by the textual content are often ignored, which can be used to mine more semantic and structural relationships in HIN. In this paper, in order to capture deep semantic and structural information, we introduce Semantic based Heterogeneous Information Network Embedding (SHINE) which obtains the latent semantic relationships between patents (referred to as semantic links in this paper) by textual content similarity and topic similarity, and links the semantic relationships with network structure to build a novel HIN. First, to obtain semantic links, we not only consider the textual content similarity between patents but also the topic similarity. We use the linear fusion method to combine these two similarities. Secondly, we build a HIN with semantic links and bibliographic information to integrate semantic and structural information, and we use network embedding to map the integration of two kinds of information into a common vector space. Finally, we recommend patent citations by linear combination of multi-modal similarities. The experimental results on two U.S. patent datasets show the effectiveness of SHINE. Due to the curse of dimensionality, two main issues remain challenging for applying evolutionary algorithms (EAs) to large-scale multiobjective optimization. The first issue is how to improve the efficiency of EAs for reducing computation cost. The second one is how to improve the diversity maintenance of EAs to avoid local optima. Nevertheless, these two issues are somehow conflicting with each other, and thus it is crucial to strike a balance between them in practice. Thereby, we propose an iterated problem reformulation based EA for large-scale multiobjective optimization, where the problem reformulation based method and the decomposition based method are used iteratively to address the aforementioned issues. The proposed method is compared with several state-of-the-art EAs on a variety of large-scale multiobjective optimization problems. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed iterated method in large-scale multiobjective optimization.
