Subword tokenization is a common method for vocabulary building in Neural Machine Translation (NMT) models. However, increasingly complex tasks have revealed its disadvantages. First, a vocabulary cannot be modified once it is learned, making it hard to adapt to new words. Second, in multilingual translation, the imbalance in data volumes across different languages spreads to the vocabulary, exacerbating translations involving low-resource languages. While byte-based tokenization addresses these issues, byte-based models struggle with the low information density inherent in UTF-8 byte sequences. Previous works enhance token semantics through local contextualization but fail to select an appropriate contextualizing scope based on the input. Consequently, we propose the Multi-Scale Contextualization (MSC) method, which learns contextualized information of varying scales across different hidden state dimensions. It then leverages the attention module to dynamically integrate the multi-scale contextualized information. Experiments show that MSC significantly outperforms subword-based and other byte-based methods in both multilingual and out-of-domain scenarios. LED: A Large-scale Real-world Paired Dataset for Event Camera Denoising

Event camera has significant advantages in capturing dynamic scene information while being prone to noise interference, particularly in challenging conditions like low threshold and low illumination. However, most existing research focuses on gentle situations, hindering event camera applications in realistic complex scenarios. To tackle this limitation and advance the field, we construct a new paired real-world event denoising dataset (LED), including 3K sequences with 18K seconds of high-resolution (1200*680) event streams and showing three notable distinctions compared to others: diverse noise levels and scenes, larger-scale with high-resolution, and high-quality GT. Specifically, it contains stepped parameters and varying illumination with diverse scenarios. Moreover, based on the property of noise events inconsistency and signal events consistency, we propose a novel effective denoising framework(DED) using homogeneous dual events to generate the GT with better separating noise from the raw. Furthermore, we design a bio-inspired baseline leveraging Leaky-Integrate-and-Fire (LIF) neurons with dynamic thresholds to realize accurate denoising. Conformal risk control (CRC) is a recently proposed technique that applies post-hoc to a conventional point predictor to provide calibration guarantees. Generalizing conformal prediction (CP), with CRC, calibration is ensured for a set predictor that is extracted from the point predictor to control a risk function such as the probability of miscoverage or the false negative rate. The original CRC requires the availab.e data set to be split between training and validation data sets. This can be problematic when data availab.lity is limited, resulting in inefficient set predictors. In this paper, a novel CRC method is introduced that is based on cross-validation, rather than on validation as the original CRC. The proposed cross-validation CRC (CV-CRC) extends a version of the jackknife-minmax from CP to CRC, allowing for the control of a broader range of risk functions. CV-CRC is proved to offer theoretical guarantees on the average risk of the set predictor. Furthermore, numerical experiments show that CV-CRC can reduce the average set size with respect to CRC when the availab.e data are limited.

3D object detection is an essential perception task in autonomous driving to understand the environments. The Bird's-Eye-View (BEV) representations have significantly improved the performance of 3D detectors with camera inputs on popular benchmarks. However, there still lacks a systematic understanding of the robustness of these vision-dependent BEV models, which is closely related to the safety of autonomous driving systems. In this paper, we evaluate the natural and adversarial robustness of various representative models under extensive settings, to fully understand their behaviors influenced by explicit BEV features compared with those without BEV. In addition to the classic settings, we propose a 3D consistent patch attack by applying adversarial patches in the 3D space to guarantee the spatiotemporal consistency, which is more realistic for the scenario of autonomous driving. With substantial experiments, we draw several findings: 1) BEV models tend to be more stable than previous methods under different natural conditions and common corruptions due to the expressive spatial representations;2) BEV models are more vulnerable to adversarial noises, mainly caused by the redundant BEV features;3) Camera-LiDARfusion models have superior performance under different settings with multi-modal inputs, but BEV fusion model is still vulnerable to adversarial noises of both point cloud and image. These findings alert the safety issue in the applications of BEV detectors and could facilitate the development of more robust models. © 2023 IEEE.

Combined with the generative prior of pre-trained models and the flexibility of text, text-driven generative domain adaptation can generate images from a wide range of target domains. However, current methods still suffer from overfitting and the mode collapse problem. In this paper, we analyze the mode collapse from the geometric point of view and reveal its relationship to the Hessian matrix of generator. To alleviate it, we propose the spectral consistency regularization to preserve the diversity of source domain without restricting the semantic adaptation to target domain. We also design granularity adaptive regularization to flexibly control the balance between diversity and stylization for target model. We conduct experiments for broad target domains compared with state-of-the-art methods and extensive ablation studies. The experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method to preserve the diversity of source domain and generate high fidelity target images. FUZZY ALIGNMENTS IN DIRECTED ACYCLIC GRAPH FOR NON-AUTOREGRESSIVE MACHINE TRANSLATION

Non-autoregressive translation (NAT) reduces the decoding latency but suffers from performance degradation due to the multi-modality problem. Recently, the structure of directed acyclic graph has achieved great success in NAT, which tackles the multi-modality problem by introducing dependency between vertices. However, training it with negative log-likelihood loss implicitly requires a strict alignment between reference tokens and vertices, weakening its ability to handle multiple translation modalities. In this paper, we hold the view that all paths in the graph are fuzzily aligned with the reference sentence. We do not require the exact alignment but train the model to maximize a fuzzy alignment score between the graph and reference, which takes captured translations in all modalities into account. Extensive experiments on major WMT benchmarks show that our method substantially improves translation performance and increases prediction confidence, setting a new state of the art for NAT on the raw training data.1 Copyright © 2023, The Authors. With the increasing demand for energy, pumped storage power plants have received widespread attention as a renewable energy storage solution. When designing and constructing dam projects for pumped storage power plants, it is necessary to fully consider terrain factors to ensure the safety and feasibility of the project. Based on this, this study proposes a simulation method for pumped storage power station dam engineering that takes into account terrain. This method emphasizes the terrain characteristics and covers the positioning, geometric construction, volume estimation of the dam body, and thickness estimation of the mountains on both sides of the dam for pumped storage power plants. Finally, a three-dimensional model of the pumped storage power plant dam that meets the requirements was successfully constructed. Provided important technical support for the planning and construction of pumped storage power station dam projects, and made positive contributions to the implementation of renewable energy storage solutions. © 2023 IEEE.

Airway extraction is paramount in the early diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases. As a tree-like structure, both topological-aware learning and voxel-wise classification are equally crucial for the airway. However, existing methods demonstrate insufficient topological learning, emphasizing only the supervision of individual key topological points. Consequently, this paper proposes a Explicit Topological Modeling (ExpTopo) approach to aid airway segmentation. It explicitly introduces topological metric space learning based on semantic segmentation, enhancing the model's structural perception by implementing global skeleton-level sparse topological learning (STL) and local voxel-level dense topological perception (DTP). Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm achieves competitive performance at both the topological and voxel levels. Code will be availab.e in https://***/MorineZ/ExpTopo.

Biomedical Named Entity Recognition (NER) is a crucial task in extracting information from biomedical texts. However, the diversity of professional terminology, semantic complexity, and the widespread presence of synonyms pose significant challenges. Traditional methods that rely on sequence lab.ling training datasets often struggle to handle these complexities. To address this, we introduce a novel framework for BioNER, termed DMNER, which leverages external knowledge and operates in two steps: entity boundary detection and entity category identification through matching. The core of DMNER is its second step, which determines the entity category by retrieving similar entities and their categories from a knowledge dictionary using semantic similarity matching. Our experiments on 10 biomedical datasets demonstrate that DMNER outperforms baselines across these tasks, proving its effectiveness and adaptability. DMNER is versatile and can be applied to various NER tasks, including supervised NER, distantly supervised NER, and NER on multiple datasets with disjoint lab.l sets. Universal selecting of pumped storage power station is very important for energy resource management and energy structure optimization under the background of the national green energy strategy in China. However, when selecting the best reservoir location scheme, multiple factors should be considered, such as topography, water distribution, and ecological environment. Since pumped storage power stations are mostly located in mountainous areas with poor vegetation coverage, it is difficult to carry out universal selecting in the wild. Traditional pumped storage power station site universal selecting methods mainly rely on artificial field investigation and empirical judgment, resulting in low site selection accuracy. To solve these problems, a intelligent universal selecting method for pumped storage power stations is proposed in this study based on high-precision terrain data. The algorithms including reservoir surface pre-selection, upper and lower reservoirs matching and implemented. Furthermore, a intelligent universal selecting system for pumped storage power station with high efficiency, wide range and high accuracy has been developed is built. It is of great strategic significance for national energy resource management and structural optimization. © 2023 ACM.
