Fuzzy information measures play an important part in measuring the similarity degree between two pattern vectors in fuzzy circumstance. In this paper, two new fuzzy information measures are set up. Firstly, the classical similarity measures, such as dissimilarity measure (DM) and similarity measure (SM) are studied, an axiom theory about fuzzy entropy is surveyed, and all kinds of definitions of fuzzy entropy are discussed. Secondly, based on the idea of Shannon information entropy, two concepts of fuzzy joint entropy and fuzzy conditional entropy are proposed and the basic properties of them are given and proved. At last, two new measures, fuzzy absolute information measure (FAIM) and fuzzy relative information measure (FRIM), are set up, which can be used to measure the similarity degree between a fuzzy set A and a fuzzy set B. So, It provides a new research approach for studies on pattern similarity measure.

This paper proposes a novel methodology based on V-system polynomials for content-based search and retrieval of 3D objects. The V-system is composed by piecewise polynomials, and is capable of exactly describing the geometric information expressed by the popularly and widely used spline curves and surface. We define rotation invariant moments-v-system moment by combining V-system polynomials with spherical harmonics. After preprocessing for translation and scale invariance, the spherical extension is used as input for V-system moments and the values of obtained coefficients are considered as components of the feature vector. We evaluate on the Princeton Shape Benchmark, the proposed descriptors regarding computational aspects and shape retrieval performance. The-performance of the proposed method is compared to some previous approaches by means of precision/recall tests. Generally, results show that the new approach introduces improvements in the SD model retrieval process.

It is important to generate response plan to deal with the emergency, which will greatly decrease the cost. The traditional method is using the expert system (rule based reasoning system) to generate the decision method. However, this approach is often slow and it is also hard to generate the reasoning rules sometimes. This paper combines two kinds of artificial intelligence techniques, case based reasoning (CBR) and rule based reasoning (RBR), to construct a quick emergency response plan generation system. It improves the performance and solves the knowledge acquisition bottleneck of traditional RBR systems. With the CBR tool CbrSys, decision support is generated from the previous emergency cases and solutions in database through the similarity retrieval. Once new emergency events happen, the case base is first retrieved to find the similar solutions. Only when the solution cases can not be obtained from the case base or the case solutions are not satisfactory, the RBR system is used to reason for solution and then the reasoning result is stored in the case base for future use. A series experiments are conducted to test its efficiency, which shows that it is superior to the traditional RBR system in response speed. The system is now applied in flood decision support system and city emergency inter-act project.

In this paper, a 3D polar-radius surface moment is proposed, and is used for 3D model retrieval. 3D polar-radius surface moments are new moment invariants based on 3D polar-radius moments including the invariance on shift, rotation and scale transforms. Compared to previous methods to compute such moments, the computational complexity for calculating 3D moments can be decreased considerably. With the help of these moment invariants, the 3D models are distinguished accurately.

In this paper a novel direct clustering algorithm based on generalized information distance (GID) is put forward. Firstly, based on information theory, a basic concept of measure of diversity is given and an inequality about measure of diversity is proved. Based on this inequality, a concept of increment of diversity is discussed and a defined. Secondly, by analyzing distance measure, two new concepts of generalized information distance (GID) and improved generalized information distance (IGID) are proposed, and a new direct clustering algorithm based on GID and IGID is designed. Finally this algorithm is applied to soil fertility data processing, and compared with hierarchical clustering algorithm (HCA). The results of simulation application show that the algorithm presented here is feasible and effective. Because of simplicity of algorithm and robustness. It provides a new research approach for studies of pattern recognition theory.
