Face recognition (FR) is being widely used in many applications from access control to smartphone unlock. As a result, face presentation attack detection (PAD) has drawn increasing attentions to secure the FR systems. Traditional approaches for PAD mainly assume that training and testing scenarios are similar in imaging conditions (illumination, scene, camera sensor, etc.), and thus may lack good generalization capability into new application scenarios. In this work, we propose an end-to-end learning approach to improve PAD generalization capability by utilizing prior knowledge from source domain via adversarial domain adaptation. We first build a source domain PAD model optimized with triplet loss. Subsequently, we perform adversarial domain adaptation w.r.t. the target domain to learn a shared embedding space by both the source and target domain models, in which the discriminator cannot reliably predict whether a sample is from the source or target domain. Finally, PAD in the target domain is performed with k-nearest neighbors (k-NN) classifier in the embedding space. The proposed approach shows promising generalization capability in a number of public-domain face PAD databases.

We report an experimental demonstration of resonance fluorescence in a two-level superconducting artificial atom under two driving fields coupled to a detuned cavity. One of the fields is classical and the other is varied from quantum (vacuum fluctuations) to classical one by controlling the photon number inside the cavity. The device consists of a transmon qubit strongly coupled to a one-dimensional transmission line and a coplanar waveguide resonator. We observe a sideband anti-crossing and asymmetry in the emission spectra of the system through a one-dimensional transmission line, which is fundamentally different from the weak coupling case. By changing the photon number inside the cavity, the emission spectrum of our doubly driven system approaches to the case when the atom is driven by two classical bichromatic fields. We also measure the dynamical evolution of the system through the transmission line and study the properties of the first-order correlation function, Rabi oscillations and energy relaxation in the system. The study of resonance fluorescence from an atom driven by two fields promotes understanding decoherence in superconducting quantum circuits and may find applications in superconducting quantum computing and quantum networks. Pose transfer has been studied for decades, in which the pose of a source mesh is applied to a target mesh. Particularly in this paper, we are interested in transferring the pose of source human mesh to deform the target human mesh, while the source and target meshes may have different identity information. Traditional studies assume that the paired source and target meshes are existed with the point-wise correspondences of user annotated landmarks/mesh points, which requires heavy lab.lling efforts. On the other hand, the generalization ability of deep models is limited, when the source and target meshes have different identities. To break this limitation, we proposes the first neural pose transfer model that solves the pose transfer via the latest technique for image style transfer, leveraging the newly proposed component -- spatially adaptive instance normalization. Our model does not require any correspondences between the source and target meshes. Extensive experiments show that the proposed model can effectively transfer deformation from source to target meshes, and has good generalization ability to deal with unseen identities or poses of meshes. Magnetic resonance (MR) image acquisition is an inherently prolonged process, whose acceleration has long been the subject of research. This is commonly achieved by obtaining multiple undersampled images, simultaneously, through parallel imaging. In this paper, we propose the Dual-Octave Network (DONet), which is capable of learning multi-scale spatialfrequency features from both the real and imaginary components of MR data, for parallel fast MR image reconstruction. More specifically, our DONet consists of a series of Dual-Octave convolutions (Dual-OctConv), which are connected in a dense manner for better reuse of features. In each Dual-OctConv, the input feature maps and convolutional kernels are first split into two components (i.e., real and imaginary), and then divided into four groups according to their spatial frequencies. Then, our Dual-OctConv conducts intra-group information updating and inter-group information exchange to aggregate the contextual information across different groups. Our framework provides three appealing benefits: (i) It encourages information interaction and fusion between the real and imaginary components at various spatial frequencies to achieve richer representational capacity. (ii) The dense connections between the real and imaginary groups in each Dual-OctConv make the propagation of features more efficient by feature reuse. (iii) DONet enlarges the receptive field by learning multiple spatial-frequency features of both the real and imaginary components. Extensive experiments on two popular datasets (i.e., clinical knee and fastMRI), under different undersampling patterns and acceleration factors, demonstrate the superiority of our model in accelerated parallel MR image reconstruction. © 2021, CC BY.

Traditional neuron models use analog values for information representation and computation, while all-or-nothing spikes are employed in the spiking ones. With a more brain-like processing paradigm, spiking neurons are more promising for improvements on efficiency and computational capability. They extend the computation of traditional neurons with an additional dimension of time carried by all-or-nothing spikes. Could one benefit from both the accuracy of analog values and the time-processing capability of spikes? In this paper, we introduce a concept of augmented spikes to carry complementary information with spike coefficients in addition to spike latencies. New augmented spiking neuron model and synaptic learning rules are proposed to process and learn patterns of augmented spikes. We provide systematic insight into the properties and characteristics of our methods, including classification of augmented spike patterns, learning capacity, construction of causality, feature detection, robustness and applicability to practical tasks such as acoustic and visual pattern recognition. The remarkable results highlight the effectiveness and potential merits of our methods. Importantly, our augmented approaches are versatile and can be easily generalized to other spike-based systems, contributing to a potential development for them including neuromorphic computing. The state of health (SOH) and remaining useful life (RUL) prediction of lithium-ion batteries are critical for the safe operation and maintenance optimization of electrical systems. However, existing methods face challenges in generalization ability and prediction accuracy, including the limitations of single-task learning for joint SOH and RUL prediction, sensitivity to complex operating conditions, and the impact of cross-domain data distribution differences. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a dual-representation transferable knowledge sharing network (DRTKSN) to predict SOH and RUL for batteries. The proposed algorithm is based on the framework of multi task learning (MTL) and Transfer Learning. By extracting and fusing dual-representation data features, the framework effectively captures the latent patterns of battery aging characteristics. It employs parameter and network structure sharing mechanisms to enhance the adaptability and generalization of cross-domain features. The proposed model achieves information collab.ration between SOH and RUL tasks through a shared network, effectively reducing computational costs and improving prediction accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework exhibits excellent robustness and transferability in complex degradation scenarios, significantly outperforming baseline models. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Epilepsy is a brain disorder caused by abnormal discharges of neurons in brain. It is one of the most commonly studied disorders in neurology. The research of epilepsy electroencephalogram (EEG) has become a hot research topic. We find that in epilepsy EEG detection task, many previous methods focused on directly collecting the data of each channel, but these methods seldom analyse relationships between signals. Therefore, we propose the Epilepsy EEG Graph Convolutional Network EGCN, which makes full use of correlations between channels to deeply mine data information. We specifically design 5-layer graph convolutional network structure for classification of healthy and epileptic patients. The method is applied to public data set (Boon and CHB-MIT) to establish a reasonable classification model. And we compare it with some advanced algorithms. The experimental results show that the E-GCN method is superior to many existing methods in classification accuracy. In brief, the E-GCN method can be effectively used in classification and detection for epilepsy. This provides new ideas for colleagues, who study epilepsy EEG. In addition, this also provides richer experience for diagnosis of epilepsy.

We present the discovery and timing results of four pulsars discovered in a pilot survey at intermediate Galactic latitudes with the Five-hundred Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST). Among these pulsars, two belong to the category of millisecond pulsars (MSPs) with spin periods of less than 20 ms. The other two fall under the classification of "mildly recycled" pulsars, with massive white dwarfs as companions. Remarkably, this small survey, covering an area of 4.7 deg2, led to the discovery of four recycled pulsars. Such success underscores the immense potential of future surveys at intermediate Galactic latitudes. In order to assess the potential yield of MSPs, we conducted population simulations and found that both FAST and Parkes new phased array feed surveys, focusing on intermediate Galactic latitudes, have the capacity to uncover several hundred new MSPs.
