Code comment generation aims at generating natural language descriptions for a code snippet to facilitate developers' program comprehension activities. Despite being studied for a long time, a bottleneck for existing approaches is that given a code snippet, they can only generate one comment while developers usually need to know information from diverse perspectives such as what is the functionality of this code snippet and how to use it. To tackle this limitation, this study empirically investigates the feasibility of utilizing large language models (LLMs) to generate comments that can fulfill developers' diverse intents. Our intuition is based on the facts that (1) the code and its pairwise comment are used during the pre-training process of LLMs to build the semantic connection between the natural language and programming language, and (2) comments in the real-world projects, which are collected for the pre-training, usually contain different developers' intents. We thus postulate that the LLMs can already understand the code from different perspectives after the pre-training. Indeed, experiments on two large-scale datasets demonstrate the rationale of our insights: by adopting the in-context learning paradigm and giving adequate prompts to the LLM (e.g., providing it with ten or more examples), the LLM can significantly outperform a state-of-the-art supervised learning approach on generating comments with multiple intents. Results also show that customized strategies for constructing the prompts and post-processing strategies for reranking the results can both boost the LLM's performances, which shed light on future research directions for using LLMs to achieve comment generation.

An important characteristic of real-world learning process is that the data frequently contains uncertainties. The uncertainties in the datasets deteriorate the learning process. Hence, to properly represent and handle the uncertainty problem is one of the key issues in the decision learning system. This paper offers a multiple models fusion method to address the uncertainty problem, by conducting the fusion of two models, Bayesian classifier and Probabilistic based Noise Aware Support Vector Machine. Specifically, we take the advantage of noise-insensitive characteristic of the Naïve Bayesian classifier, to enhance the noise-tolerant ability of probabilistic information based Support Vector Machine. The method fuses the probabilistic decision information obtained from the two classifiers in a flexible way to give the final decision. Furthermore, the multiple models fusion method is evaluated on an artificial dataset for a classification task. The experiment results show good performance when compared with using only one learning technique in the noise environment. © 2012 IEEE.

3D display has become increasingly popular in many fields. It can provide incredible immersion compared with 2D display. There are many researches referring to the change of user about no matter subjective experience or objective physiology signal while watching 3D content. Similarly, in this paper, we study the variation of user’s EEG when the user watched 3D content. However, we only focus on parallax cue and avoid other cues of 3D content by using Random Dot Stereogram(RDS) as visual stimulus. We designed an experiment which asked the subject to watch RDS with nine kinds of parallaxes(0,±0.5,±1.1,±1.3,±1.7). The users watched one RDS for 1 minute and then closed eyes and rest for 1 minute every time. During watching, EEG signal with 30-channel was recorded. The result suggests that significant variation of the user’s EEG data occurred in the Alpha(8-13Hz) and Beta(14-30Hz) frequency band by different parallax’s comparison. And we found not only parallax but also electrode position can impact the user’s EEG data significantly. Accurately, the EEG data has a significant change in six electrodes position in both frequency bands including CZ 、 PZ 、 OZ 、 O2 in international 10-20 system. It means those electrode positions we detect can be regarded as typical positions where we record EEG signal. It will simplify the process of EEG signal acquisition when we need to study the relationship between parallax cue of 3D display and the user further. © 2018 SID.

Velocity‐Vorticity Correlation Structure in Turbulent Channel Flow

We present a new definition of statistical structure — velocity‐vorticity correlation structure (VVCS) — based on amplitude distributions of the tensor field of normalized velocity‐vorticity correlation ( uiωj ), and show that it displays the geometry of the statistical structure relevant to a given reference point, and it effectively captures coherent motions in inhomogeneous shear flows. The variation of the extracted objects moving with the reference point yr+ then presents a full picture of statistical structures for the flow, which goes beyond the traditional view of searching for reference‐independent *** to turbulent channel flow simulation data at Reτ = 180 demonstrates that the VVCS successfully captures, qualitatively and quantitatively, the near‐wall streaks, the streamwise vortices [1,2], and their extensions up to yr+ = 110 with variations of their length and inclination angle. More interestingly, the VVCS associated with the streamwise velocity component (particularly ( uωx ( and ( uωz ) displays topological change at four distances from the wall (with transitions at yr+≈20,40,60,110 ), giving rise to a geometrical interpretation of the multi‐layer structure of wall‐bounded turbulence. Specifically, we find that the VVCS of ( uωz( bifurcates at yr+ = 40 with one attached to the wall and the other near the reference location. The VVCS of ( uωx ) is blob‐like in the center region, quite different from a pair of elongated and inclined objects near the *** propagation speeds of the velocity components in the near‐wall region, y+ ≤ 10, is found to be characterized by the same stream‐wise correlation structures of ( uωx ) and ( uωz ), whose core is located at y+≈20. As a result, the convection of the velocity fluctuations always reveal the constant propagation speeds in the near‐wall region. From the view of combination of stereo vision and robot control, an active stereo vision for object tracking and location system is built to work on flexible manufacturing system. A method based on local HSV image and shape of object to recognize object is used for robot tracking. After the color segment, use the knowledge of shape of objects to recognize objects. And a technique for camera calibration based on plane square is proposed. It only requires the camera to observe a square at two (or more) different unknown orientations. Use the result of object recognize and camera calibration the robot can position and track the object. At the last of the paper, the results of object tracking experiments prove that the method is correct.

It is a key issue in building operation management how to design an open and ubiquitous information system for diversity buildings of smart cities. This paper presents an operation management cloud ecosystem for smart buildings based on the technologies of Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing. It contains four levels: operation management application level, Internet of things platform, networking level, node level. The IoT platform provides hosting and computing, cloud storage, data storage for smart buildings. Networking level takes the responsibility for networking for intelligent hardware and smart terminals from the device level. With the building operation management applications, the cloud ecosystem is able to provide services of monitoring, controlling, management, and real-time optimization for smart buildings in cities.

Reasonable timing design for traffic light can induce and maintain the transportation systems in good order. How to allocate the time are the keys. In the paper, the theory of time-varying universe is used to describe the circle time, and corresponding fuzzy sets on the universe are also discussed to modeling the situation of traffic flow, then the parallel traffic management and control methods which are dynamic with the time change are presented. A simulation example are provided to analyze the linguistic dynamic evolution of timing design of traffic light when the traffic flow is change with time-varying for an intersection.

With serverless computing offering more efficient and cost-effective application deployment, the diversity of serverless platforms presents challenges to users, including platform lock-in and costly migration. Moreover, due to the black box nature of function computing, traditional performance benchmarking methods are not applicable, necessitating new studies. This article presents a detailed comparison of six major public cloud function computing platforms and introduces a benchmarking framework for function computing performance. This framework aims to help users make comprehensive comparisons and select the most suitable platform for their specific needs. © 2023 IEEE.

We study the formation control problem for multiple nonholonomic vehicles in 3D space, where vehicles are required to maintain a prescribed pattern and rotate around a target in the target plane, with the direction of rotation along with the normal vector of the target plane. Unlike the most existing works that study formation problems of agents modeled by mass-point in a 2D plane, control of multiple nonholonomic vehicles in 3D space means a grand challenge since both the space and dynamics are complex. We give explicit formulations of the problem and vehicles’ dynamics. Then, control laws to solve the problem are proposed and further transformed into the body-fixed frames of vehicles to show that they can be easily implemented using only local measurements and the direction of gravity. Theoretical analysis is presented and simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed laws.

In this paper the Morphological Quotient Image (MQI) based on close and open operation are compared, and the more effective operation is chosen. Furthermore, the influence of template size to recognition rate is studied. For different size of face images, the optimal template is obtained by experiment using Yale face database B. The optimal template is tested using CMU-PIE database and the experimental result is encouraging.
