Web service schema matching is the preliminary treatment phase of service composition and service mashup. With the entry and exit of large numbers of services on the Internet, it will be difficult to find and suggest the most relevant service candidates for new composition and mashup. In this work, we present an approach for web service schema matching based on characteristic vector consisted of multi-type service parameter information element. This schema matching approach is different form the main syntactical-based and semantic-based matching approaches, and will predict schema relationship more effectively and adaptable for web service. An experiment on real data shows the effectiveness of this approach. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper proposes a three-dimensional Gabor feature extraction for pixel-based hyperspectral imagery classification using a memetic algorithm. The proposed algorithm named MGFE combines 3-D Gabor wavelet feature generation and feature selection together to capture the signal variances of hyperspectral imagery, thereby extracting the discriminative 3-D Gabor features for accurate classification. MGFE is characterized with a novel fitness evaluation function based on independent feature relevance and a pruning local search for eliminating redundant features. The experimental results on two real-world hyperspectral imagery datasets show that MGFE succeeds in obtaining significantly improved classification accuracy with parsimonious feature selection. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

Visualizing the color changing and fading process of ancient Chinese wall paintings to tourists and researchers is of great value in both education and preservation. But previously, because empirical knowledge from artists was not introduced, it is infeasible to simulate the color changing and fading in the absence of physical and chemical knowledge of color changing and fading of frescoes. In this paper, however, empirical knowledge from artists is formalized. Since the improved system can reflect knowledge from artists in addition to the previous physical and chemical modeling, the simulation results are faithful to the color aging process of frescoes. In this article, first, the former related works is reviewed. Then, the formalization of empirical knowledge from artists is narrated. After that, the simulation results are shown and discussed. And finally, future research is suggested. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.

In component-based software development, it is important to use formal models to describe component composition. However, the existing component composition models generally ignore real-time issues. We present a formal integration model based on Hierarchical Timed Automata (HTA) for real-time software system. We present formal definition of components and different component composition techniques. We then introduce the notions of composable and compatible composition, and use Multiset lab.led Transition systems to represent the interface actions of HTA to perform compositional verification. This hierarchical and unified framework establishes the foundation for formal analysis of real-time properties of the system. © 2007 IEEE.

In this paper, an effective classification approach for action scenes is proposed, which exploits the film grammar used by filmmakers as guideline to extract features, detect and classify action scenes. First, action scenes are detected by analyzing film rhythm of video sequence. Then four important features are extracted to characterize chase and fight scenes. After then the Probability Neural Networks is employed to classify the detected action scenes into fight, chase and uncertain scenes. Experimental results show that the proposed method works well over the real movie videos. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.

Data collection is a fundamental issue in wireless sensor networks. In many application scenarios for sensor networks, approximate data collection is a wise choice due to the constraints in communication bandwidth and energy budget. In this paper, we focus on efficient approximate data collection with given error bounds in wireless sensor networks. The key idea of our data collection approach ADC (Approximate Data Collection) is to divide a sensor network into clusters, discover local data correlations on each cluster head, and perform a global approximate data collection on the sink according to model parameters uploaded by cluster heads. Specifically, we propose a local estimation model to approximate the readings of several subsets of sensor nodes, and prove rated error-bounds of data collection using this model. In the process of model-based data collection, we formulate the problem of selecting the minimum subset of sensor nodes into a minimum dominating set problem which is known to be NP-hard, and use a greedy heuristic algorithm to find an approximate solution. We also propose a monitoring algorithm to adjust these subsets according to the changes of sensor readings. Our trace-driving simulation results show that our data collection approach ADC can notably reduce the communication cost with given error bounds. © 2010 IEEE.

Tele-presence and tele-immersion systems are growing to be more realistic these years. However, few show practical experiences in Internet wide tele-immersion, especially in acceptable end-to-end delay. We present a framework for multi-party tele-immersion applications that allow remote collab.rative 3D interactions. This framework performs real-time stereo modeling based on the bumblebee cameras. It provides an architecture that supports several tele-immersion nodes to communicate in groups. This paper addresses how to reconstruct, compress and establish the system. The system has been set up in China NGI. Preliminary experiment results show that it's possible to have the delay under 100ms with 320*240 depth map and 640*480 texture images. The framework is also expected to be further extended for interaction with full-body reconstruction. © 2011 IEEE.

The method of using in-network aggregation for energy efficient data collection often results in processing delay and additional time for gathering related data at an intermediate node. This unfortunately may make the scheme undesirable for networks deployed for emergent event monitoring. In this paper, we propose ReCoDa - Reliable forwarding of Correlated Data with low latency, an energy-efficient and reliable delivery scheme benefiting from data correlation among sensor nodes but without performing in-network aggregation. Our idea is to allow each node to determine the data transmission reliability it shall obtain based on the preceding transmissions from other nodes, subjecting to the overall information reliability requirement. This in turn is achieved through controllab.e multi-path forwarding. Simulation shows that ReCoDa can successfully reduce redundancy up to 2.9 times compared with schemes not exploiting data redundancy and achieves energy efficiency up to 4.79 times higher. Presently, the research on evolution of SOA solution is becoming more and more important in industry. It is necessary to extract a taxonomy framework for evolution of SOA solution because by using it, evolution of SOA-based systems can be analyzed and compared comprehensively and objectively. In this paper, a taxonomy framework for evolution of SOA solution is proposed that is illustrated from four perspectives: (a) motivations for evolutionary changes (why), (b) locations where evolutionary changes happen (where), (c) times when evolutionary changes happen (when), and (d) support mechanisms in the process of evolutionary changes (how). Furthermore, the taxonomy framework is applied on analyzing a SOA-based configurable system for urban logistics delivery management, as an application of taxonomy framework. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

We present CCMC (Conditional CSL Model Checker), a model checker for continuous-time Markov chains (CTMCs) with respect to properties specified in continuous-time stochastic logic (CSL). Existing CTMC model checkers such as PRISM or MRMC handle only binary CSL until path formulas. CCMC is the first tool that supports algorithms for analyzing multiple until path formulas. Moreover, CCMC supports a recent extension of CSL - conditional CSL - which makes it possible to verify a larger class of properties on CTMC models. Our tool is based on our recent algorithmic advances for CSL, that construct a stratified CTMC before performing transient probability analyses. The stratified CTMC is a product obtained from the original CTMC and an automaton extracted from a given formula, aiming to filter out the irrelevant paths and make the computation more efficient. © 2013 Springer International Publishing.
