computer vision and pattern recognition is hot research topic recently, fire and flame recognition is an important sub-topics. Although researchers proposed many methods, there exist high false alarm and complex environment inadaptation because of fire-colored moving objects interference. This paper proposed a hybrid method using Hidden Markov Model (HMM) based on spatio-temporal feature and the variance of temporal luminance to detect fire. Here, the HMM model based spatio-temporal feature characterize the flicker feature of fire, and a series of observation points will be set on the boundary of flame to judge the fire flicker feature. While the variance of luminance character the temporal luminance feature. First, we can get the "candidate fire region", then we concentrate our main work on analyze the "candidate fire region". Experiment results show our method has a good result and it is robust to be used in complex environment compared with previous algorithms. © 2010 IEEE.

Recently, a new method that slow feature analysis (SFA), which can extract slowly varying feature of temporally varying signals, has been explored. SFA method is an extension of independent component analysis (ICA), which has been used to separate blind source signals. In this article, we present a simple and efficient SFA based method to separate blind signals according to their different smooth degree. The performance of the proposed mathod is higher than that of the conventional method ICA. Simulation illustrates the good performance of the proposed method.

Opinion mining is an important research area of web data mining. As it is related to natural language process and data mining, opinion mining is very challenging. This paper presents a web opining mining algorithm based on sentiment phrase classification vector. By the techniques of sentiment phrase classification, the algorithm compares the similarity between document vectors, mines the theme of the document and judges the document theme attributes. The experimental results show that the algorithm has better effectiveness and practicality. ©2010 IEEE.

Online microblogging services, as exemplified by Twitter [9] and Yammer [12], have become immensely popular during the latest three years. Twitter, the most successful mi-croblogging service, has attracted more than 41.7 million users as of July 2009 [25] and is still growing fast. However, current microblogging systems severely suffer from performance bottlenecks and central points of failure due to their centralized architecture. Thus, centralized microblogging systems may threaten the scalab.lity, reliability, as well as availab.lity of the offered services, not to mention the extremely high operational and maintenance cost. However, it is not trivial to decentralize microblogging services in a peer-to-peer fashion. The challenges first derive from the heterogeneity of the inherent online social network (OSN) features. The non-reciprocation feature of microblog-ging services also increases the heterogeneity. Moreover, different from traditional approaches used in centralized server-based systems, an efficient, robust and scalab.e approach for data collection and dissemination in such distributed heterogeneous environments is desirable. In this paper, we present a decentralized, socio-aware mi-croblogging system named Cuckoo. The design takes advantages of the inherent social relationships while leverages P2P techniques towards scalab.e, reliable microblogging services. Besides, Cuckoo provides a flexible interface for data collection while circumventing unnecessary traffic on the server. We discuss the benefits that our system may bring for both service providers and end users. We also discuss the technical aspects to be considered and report our work in progress. © 2010 ACM.

According to the problem that K-Means clustering algorithm fails to correctly distinguish non-convex shape clusters, computation mode of distance in the algorithm is changed and density metric mode which can reflect the characteristics of data themselves is adopted instead. In the mode, Delaunay triangulation graph which has the advantages of nearest neighbour and adjacency is introduced to compute density. Simultaneously, because K-Means clustering algorithm itself belongs to a global optimization problem, chaos optimization dedicated to global optimization is applied to optimize objective function for the sake of obtaining global minimum solution. Experiments results indicate that clustering algorithm based on Delaunay triangulation density metric can find arbitrary non-convex shape clusters. ©2010 IEEE.

With the rapid growing of data on Web, we are facing three serious problems. Firstly, there are a huge number of data resources which are heterogeneous and dynamic. Secondly, most of data on Web are unstructured. Thirdly, there are various kinds ofWeb users who have different interests and requirements. In this paper, we proposed a new system architecture for unstructured data management on Web to solve these problems by integrating data spaces, database and meta search engine. The system architecture consists of three layers for data gathering on demand, dynamic management and personalized service, respectively. Data servicing layer allows Web users to create data spaces with advanced functions to manipulate and access Web data, eg, cross media query and automatic recommendation. Data managing layer models both Web data and their semantic relationships using our object deputy database named as TOTEM;it also supports schema evolution and dynamic classification. Data gathering layer extracts user's interest from his or her data space;gathers the related data on Web and further analyzes their semantic relationships. Finally, we implemented a prototype system Tmusic based on this new system architecture to show its availab.lity. © 2010 IEEE.

Improving detection definition is a pivotal problem for intrusion detection. Many intelligent algorithms were used to improve the detection rate and reduce the false rate. Traditional SOM cannot provide the precise clustering results to us, while traditional K-Means depends on the initial value serious and it is difficult to find the center of cluster easily. Therefore, in this paper we introduce a new algorithm, first, we use SOM gained roughly clusters and center of clusters, then, using K-Means refine the clustering in the SOM stage. At last of this paper we take KDD CUP-99 dataset to test the performance of the new algorithm. The new algorithm overcomes the defects of traditional algorithms effectively. Experimental results show that the new algorithm has a good stability of efficiency and clustering accuracy. © 2010 IEEE.

In modern process industry, it is often difficult to analyze a manufacture process due to its numerous time-series data. Analysts wish to not only interpret the evolution of data over time in a working procedure, but also examine the changes in the whole production process through time. To meet such analytic requirements, we have developed ProcessLines, an interactive visualization tool for a large amount of time-series data in process industry. The data are displayed in a fisheye timeline. ProcessLines provides good overviews for the whole production process and details for the focused working procedure. A user study using beer industry production data has shown that the tool is effective. © 2010 ACM.

Network Coordinate (NC) systems provide a lightweight and useful way for scalab.e Internet distance prediction while serving as an important component in many Peer-to-Peer applications. Most of the existing NC systems utilize the Euclidean distance model, which is largely impaired by the persistent occurrence of Triangle Inequality Violation (TIV) in the Internet. Recently, matrix factorization (MF) based NC systems, which can completely remove the TIV constraint, provide an alternative approach towards better prediction accuracy. Phoenix, an NC system based on the MF model, well explores the advantage of the MF model and becomes the most accurate NC system so far. However, through experimental study, we find that the prediction accuracy of Phoenix for short links is significantly worse compared with the overall prediction accuracy. Based on the observation, we propose a new NC system, named Pancake, aiming at reducing the high prediction error for short links. By introducing a two-level architecture, Pancake achieves much higher prediction accuracy than other selected existing NC systems. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that Pancake reduces the 90th percentile relative error by up to 25.37% from Phoenix. Moreover, Pancake converges very fast and is robust to different dimension values. For further insights, we study the performance of Pancake using a dynamic data set in addition to the widely used aggregate data sets. With varying RTTs over time, Pancake outperforms other NC systems consistently. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper, based on the existing LEACH routing algorithm, proposes a novel adaptive zone-crossed and virtual node for multi-hop routing algorithm for large-scale wireless sensor networks. At first, we introduce the concepts of "zone" and "virtual node". On this basis, an equilibrium energy routing algorithm is proposed. The purpose is to optimize multi-hop routing by shortening distance. Our simulation experiment demonstrates that, compared to the LEACH protocol, this new solution could reduce the energy consumption of cluster heads significantly, prolong the lifetime of networks and distribute dead nodes more uniformly. © 2010 IEEE.
