As the complexity of under the condition of large-scaled resource-constrained multi-project duration optimization problems, it is difficult to give its analysis solution. With the network technology in this paper, taking the minimum number of the multi-project weighted duration as the goal, then establish a mathematical model for the optimization problem. In view of the basic cellular automaton topological sorting algorithm can only work on non-resource-constraints' single project tasks' topological sorting under the logic constraints relationship, this paper presents an improved cellular automaton model topological sorting algorithm to solve model. Combine several projects' network by setting virtual task nodes based on the basic cellular automata topological sorting algorithm, Start searching from the virtual node to meet the evolution rules of the Cellular Automata (satisfy the task's logic constraints and meet resources constraints) for to be activated nodes;At the same time for multiple nodes to be activated, putting forward two sort ways by: If the priority of multi-project is different (weights not equal), then activate the task in accordance with the priority of major projects to sort of small order, major priority weights;If the multi-project 's priority level is the same (weights is equal), then create a set of randomly activated sorting number with computer, and order them by these random number;Do so until all nodes are activated, thus obtain the objective function value. On this basis, and then got the resource scheduling solution of Multi-Project Time Optimization. Finally, this paper demonstrated the validity and practicality through a business case. ©2010 IEEE.

Not only in real societies, but also in virtual worlds, the spatial pattern of transport networks imposes important influences on the travel, work and living style of people or agents. To gain a deep understanding of such influences, this study simulates the developmental process of a transport network by deploying an algorithm of neighborhood-diffusion on an artificial society platform with characteristics of geographic systems. The finally developed spatial pattern of transport network differs significantly from that yielded previously from using a DLA algorithm. Importantly, it is demonstrated that the transportation network produced with the neighborhood-diffusion algorithm displays a spatial pattern very similar to the idealized agricultural land use style described by von Thiinen rings. Hence, the neighborhood-diffusion algorithm is more suitable for understanding the formative process of rural land use change, in contrast to the suitability of the DLA algorithm for explaining urban developmental process. © 2010 IEEE.

In this paper, a structured max-margin learning scheme is developed to achieve more effective training of a large number of inter-related classifiers for multi-lab.l image annotation. First, a visual concept network is constructed to characterize the inter-concept visual similarity contexts more precisely and determine the inter-related learning tasks automatically. Second, multiple base kernels are combined to achieve more precise characterization of the diverse visual similarity contexts between the images and address the issue of huge intra-concept visual diversity more effectively. Third, a structured max-margin learning algorithm is developed by incorporating the visual concept network, max-margin Markov networks and multi-task learning to address the issue of huge inter-concept visual similarity more effectively. Our structured max-margin learning algorithm can leverage the inter-concept visual similarity contexts to learn a large number of inter-related classifiers simultaneously and improve their discrimination power significantly. This paper presents an interactive robotics modeling and simulation system based on the MSRS (Microsoft Robotics Studio), called iRMSS (Interactive Robotics Modeling & Simulation system). iRMSS is composed of two sub systems. One is the 3D robotics modeling sub-system that facilitates the creation of segment-joint model and physical model for robots. The other is the interactive robotics simulation sub-system that can provide dynamics parameters feedback. So that iRMSS has the advantage of rapid robotics modeling and flexible parameter feedback over the MSRS. An experimental case is presented to verify the system feasibility. ©2010 IEEE.

Context-awareness is an essential feature of pervasive applications, and runtime detection of contextual properties is one of the primary approaches to enabling context-awareness. However, existing context-aware middleware does not provide sufficient support for detection of contextual properties in asynchronous environments. We argue that in asynchronous environments, the concept of time needs to be reexamined. Instead of assuming the availab.lity of global time or synchronous interaction, we should rely on logical time. To this end, we present the Middleware Infrastructure for Predicate detection in Asynchronous environments (MIPA), which supports context-awareness based on logical time. Design and operation of MIPA are explained in detail. We also evaluate MIPA with a comprehensive case study. The evaluation results show the cost-effectiveness and scalab.lity of MIPA. © 2010 IEEE.

Detection of contextual properties is one of the primary approaches to enabling context-awareness. In order to adapt to temporal evolution of the pervasive computing environment, context-aware applications often need to detect behavioral properties specified over the contexts. This problem is challenging mainly due to the intrinsic asynchrony of pervasive computing environments. However, existing schemes implicitly assume the availab.lity of a global clock or synchronous coordination, thus not working in asynchronous environments. We argue that in pervasive computing environments, the concept of time needs to be reexamined. Toward this objective, we propose the Ordering Global Activity (OGA) algorithm, which detects behavioral contextual properties in asynchronous environments. The essence of our approach is to utilize the message causality and its on-the-fly coding as logical vector clocks. The OGA algorithm is implemented and evaluated based on the open-source context-aware middleware MIPA. The evaluation results show the impact of asynchrony on the detection of contextual properties, which justifies the primary motivation of our work. They also show that OGA can achieve accurate detection of contextual properties in dynamic pervasive computing environments. © 2010 IEEE.

In Three Gorges reservoir area of China, 3D visualization and analysis functions are widely needed in many works of geological hazard survey, inspection, pre-warning and treatment of local landslides and collapses, and decision making for emergency response. However, current 2D or 2.5D GIS system cannot satisfy all these kinds of requirements and a 3D visualization and analysis system of geological hazard is greatly expected. The method that combines aboveground scene with 3D visualization of underground geological bodies based on GIS and 3D modeling technology is applied to integrate multi-source geological hazard data and realize integrative analysis. Based on visualization technology, pseudo-3D geological hazard map is formed to show clearly geomorphic scene and geological environment along the reservoir banks of Yangtze River. The geological true 3D models are used in representing geological body and environment, processing the combined relationship of rock surface and structure surface, revealing feature of geological structures. system test region has 8 new migrational towns and important disaster area. An integrated 3D model will be built up based on ArcGIS, GeoView and Oracle to achieve data and function supports for pre-warning and decision-making system. ©2010 IEEE.

With the development of Grid technology and the extension of Grid application areas, it needs to provide core infrastructure platform and the necessary functional components for large-scale resources sharing and collab.ration. Based on the previous implementation of interactive Grid visualization system, this paper extends its runtime environment layer to provide Grid supports for the existing distributed simulation support platform and parallel graphics rendering system based on PC cluster, consequently realizes dynamic resource allocation and scheduling. Additionally, we present and implement a Grid-based distributed simulation and parallel rendering system which provides large-scale distributed simulation service and parallel rendering as well as high-resolution multi-screen tiled display service of massive complex scene to end users through an extended Grid portal. © 2010 IEEE.

Recently, cluster synchronization has attracted an increasing interest in various disciplines, includingmathematics, physics, and engineering sciences. This paper further investigates the cluster synchronization of a complex dynamical network by using adaptive and impulsive control techniques, respectively. Based on a complex dynamical network with two different clusters, several adaptive and impulsive cluster synchronization criteria are then proposed. It should be especially pointed out that the dynamics and its dimensions of the individual dynamical systems are different in the two different clusters. Also, some numerical simulations are given to verify the effectiveness of the above theoretical results. ©2010 IEEE.

Chip multiprocessor technique has been implemented in embedded systems due to the tremendous computation requirements. Three dimension chip multiprocessor architecture has been studied recently for integrating more functionalities and providing higher performance. The high temperature on chip is a critical issue for the 3D architecture. In this paper, we propose an online thermal prediction model for 3D chip. Using this model, we present a task scheduling algorithm based on rotation scheduling to reduce the peak temperature on chip. We consider the data dependencies, especially the inter-iteration dependencies which are not well considered in most of the current thermal-aware task scheduling algorithms. Our simulation result shows that our algorithm can efficiently reduce the peak temperature up to 10 °C. © 2010 IEEE.
