Buffer overflow (BOF) is one of the major vulnerabilities that lead to non-secure software. Testing an implementation for BOF vulnerabilities is challenging as the underlying reasons of buffer overflow vary widely. This paper presents a novel method for BOF test for ANSI C language, which uses program instrumentation and mutation test technology to test the BOF vulnerabilities, on the basis of analyzing the invariants for BOF vulnerabilities. The implementation shows that it can check the attack of BOF vulnerabilities adequately and accurately, in the circumstances of no large losses in performance. © 2009 IEEE.

Soft sensing is usually presented as a constraint solving problem. In a manufacturing context, traditional methods of soft sensing have to face challenges in robustness and efficiency. In this paper, we proposed a granular-based approach to constraint solving for soft sensing. In our method, we first construct a granular-based soft sensing model, then estimate bounds of each granule, and finally solve this granulated problem with a smaller size. According to our analysis, this method is robust and efficient. Copyright 2009 ACM.

In modern process industry, it is often difficult to analyze a manufacture process due to its numerous time-series data. Analysts wish to not only interpret the evolution of data over time in a working procedure, but also examine the changes in the whole production process through time. To meet such analytic requirements, we have developed ProcessLine, an interactive visualization tool for a large amount of time-series data in process industry. The data are displayed in a fisheye timeline. ProcessLine provides good overviews for the whole production process and details for the focused working procedure. A preliminary user study using beer industry production data has shown that the tool is effective. ©2009 IEEE.

This paper is about an interdisciplinary knowledge relating to computer science and Solid state Electronics. The normal FORMAT or DELET operation in computer can not verily eras the data on the hard disk. By using precision instruments, the data could be recognized and recovered. Based on the intensive study in characteristic of magnetic medium and the data encoding rules, this paper represents an effective theory to destruct data from hard disk without specialized equipment. And finally, it proposes a feasible solution for the data destruction software on Linux and Windows operating system. ©2009 IEEE.

A fuzzy clustering is one of important and valid methods to knowledge discovery. One of problems in fuzzy clustering is to determine a certain fuzzy sample classification in given limited sample space. Another is its validity, that is to say, if the sample is resemble in sample space, its fuzzy type will be resemble too. In our research, firstly, using triangle arithmetic operator and triangle transference, we extend fuzzy equivalence relationship to fuzzy closeness relationship, and cluster. Secondly, importing fuzzy coverage based on fuzzy closeness relationship, we judge resemble type of resemble sample. Thirdly, we introduce the clustering method based on fuzzy closeness relationship and fuzzy coverage. The method can overcome information more loss in fuzzy equivalence. Finally, evaluating its validity, we test its feasibility. The method above is applied to knowledge discovery for electronic commerce on Internet, we have got good result. © 2009 IEEE.

This paper proposes the MDMA (Multi-dimensional Distributed Mining Association rules) algorithm based on advanced SQL query. The algorithm works on star-style structure networks. It uses CUBE operator in new standard SQL and combines with SQL powerful query function. So there is no need for the proposed algorithm to conduct a great deal of iterations to generate frequent itemsets in the process of mining association rules. Therefore, no matter what the number of the site in the distributed environments and the scale of the local database in the local site is, the algorithm always needs only two times of scanning the database and only three times of network communications to generate all the global frequent itemsets. Consequently, this algorithm has the merits of light network traffic, low time cost, better scalab.lity and more simplicity. © 2009 IEEE.

This paper presents a hybrid short-term traffic flow forecast technology. For the uncertainty, the short-term traffic flow forecast is complicated, and the accuracy is not high. This strategy combines the RBF neural network and ant colony clustering algorithm to forecast the traffic flow. It used ant colony clustering algorithm to get the centers of hidden layer neurons. To find the best clustering result, local search is used in ant colony algorithm. The model has strong local generalization abilities and high accuracy. The simulation experiment results illuminate that the application is fairly effective. © 2009 IEEE.

Along with the rapid growth of the number of the availab.e web services over the internet, the quality of services (Qos) becomes an imperative concern for service consumers and providers. How to differentiate their quality based on Qos criteria at web service level is a challenging issue. Considering that evolutionary algorithm has powerful ability of searching information, a new web service composition model under improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm is presented in this paper. According to the non-functional attributes Qos of services, the model can select web services with optimal Qos and compose them into value-added web services. Furthermore, IPSO model not only can find the service with optimal Qos immediately but also can overcome the bottleneck of the standard PSO model. It can balance the exploitation and exploration and avoid premature convergence to some extent. As a result, web services can be invocated dynamically and be composed automatically and efficiently. The preliminary experimental results indicate that the web service composition approach based on IPSO model is applicable and feasible to the optimization of general service compositions. ©2009 IEEE.

software Defined Radio (SDR) allows dynamically changing protocols and functions in order to provide flexible, multiple-standard services to users. A reconfigurable baseband architecture having a set of coarse-grained, heterogeneous execution units is one strategy which can meet this requirement. However, while we can integrate a large number of execution units onto a chip, conventional bus structures may not be able to support the amount of traffic between the functional units due to the shared nature of the bus. In this paper, an SDR baseband platform is mapped onto two different types of on-chip networks, a multicasting CDMA-based network and a conventional 2Dmesh network. Synthesis is performed for both cases using a 0.13 micron CMOS technology library and comparative results for performance and area are provided. ©2009 IEEE.

This paper presents a component-based model with a novel ranking method (CMR) for constrained evolutionary optimization. In general, many constraint-handling technique inevitably solve two important problems: (1) how to generate the feasible solutions, (2) how to direct the search to find the feasible optimal solution. For the first problem, this paper introduces a component-based model. The model is useful for exploiting valuable information from infeasible solutions and for transforming infeasible solutions into feasible ones. Furthermore, a new ranking strategy is designed for the second problem. The new algorithm is tested on several well-known benchmark functions, and the empirical results suggest that it continuously found the optimums in 30 runs and has better standard deviations for robustness and stability. ©2009 IEEE.
