Addressing the extremely high reliability is a critical problem of wireless control system in actual industrial applications. In this paper fully considering the characteristics of the wireless network transmission and industrial automation application, a grouping TDMA access approach based on multiple access points is proposed. The main idea is that: redundant multiple access points are applied in communication to improve the system reliability, multiple time synchronizations are made because of beacon frames of multiple access points to improve the accuracy, and ACK is replied by reliable access point to reduce retransmission and improve resource utilization. Finally, a corresponding access device is designed and implemented. Experiments show that it can meet the harsh requirements for the communication in control loops and demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This study investigated the air-gap magnetic field distribution and inductance characteristics of a long primary sectional powered variable pole pitch linear induction motor (VPPLIM). A one-dimensional analytical model and a 2-D finite element model were used to analyze the air-gap magnetic field distribution in the VPPLIM with harmonic fields for uniformly accelerating the mover with a typical AC supply. The air-gap magnetic field distribution was used to develop analytical expressions for the self-and mutual-inductances of the motor and their characteristics. The analytical expressions are verified by the finite element simulations. ©, 2014, Press of Tsinghua University. All right reserved.

Online partial discharge monitoring for power equipments is useful to improve the capacity of the power supply. Main technology for PD testing is introduced in this paper. Advantages and disadvantages of pulse current, UHF, ultrasonic and TEV method are present. The status quo of online PD monitoring is analyzed, and the detection effect of online PD monitoring is not good. Opinions to improve the effect are given. They include built-in sensors, increasing sensitivity and sample rate. Analysis of the state quo indicates that the relevant technical standards and specifications must be revised to improve the normalization and standardization.

An overview of the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is presented in this talk. Ever since ADRC was proposed by Jingqing Han in 1990s[1]1, it has become quite an attractive methodology to applied researchers, even though rigorous theoretical justification was lagging behind for quite some time. The fact that ADRC possesses certain uniqueness in concepts, simplicity in engineering implementation, and superior actual performance allowed it to be readily translated into a valuable asset in engineering practice: namely, the ability in dealing with a vast range of uncertainties, improved transient response, easy implementation and energy savings, to name but a few. The range of applications seems broad, covering almost all domains of control engineering, such as motion control, speed control of induction motor and permanent-magnet synchronous motor, control for noncircular turning process, low-velocity compensation of brushless DC servo, robotic system, underactuated mechanical systems, micro-electro-mechanical systems gyroscope, control for superconducting RF cavities, flight control, attitude tracking of rigid spacecraft, web tension regulation, DC-DC power converter, chemical processes, ALSTOM gasifier benchmark problem, the boilerturbine-generator control systems, stabilization of axial flow compressors, the fractional-order system, etc. [10]-[31]. In the U.S.A., the ADRC solution was recently deployed at a Parker Hannifin Extrusion Plant in North America, resulting in over 50% energy saving per line across ten production lines, together with significant improvements in product quality [32]. And Texas Instrument has adopted the ADRC technology in developing and distributing a new line of motion control chips worldwide [33].The National Superconducting Cyclotron lab.in the U.S. has implemented ADRC in several high energy particle accelerators after significant improvements have been obtained in amplitude and phase regulation of electromagnetic fields. In this paper, a novel visual tracking algorithm that uses the target salient confidence (TSC) is proposed. Two contributions are summarized as follows. First, we put forward a novel target salient confidence (TSC) model which combines the static saliency map (SSM) based on the selective visual attention model, motion attention map (MAP) and the target prior confidence (TPC). Second, we propose to use the target salient confidence for particle filter. It manipulates the distribution expressed by the particle cloud towards a better match with the target salient confidence model. In this way particle sampling can be locked on those regions with higher target salient confidence. Experiments in some video sequences show that the target salient confidence is useful for visual tracking and our algorithm is effective.

Communication-Based Train control (CBTC) system is an automated train control system using bidirectional train-ground communications to ensure the safe operation of rail vehicles. Due to unreliable wireless communications and frequent handoff, existing CBTC systems can severely affect train control performance. In this paper, we use recent advances in Coordinated Multi-Point transmission and reception (CoMP) to enhance the train control performance of CBTC systems. In addition, unlike the exiting works on CoMP, linear quadratic cost for the train control performance in CBTC systems is considered as the performance measure. Moreover, we propose an optimal guidance trajectory calculation scheme in the train control procedure that takes full consideration of the tracking error caused by handoff latency. Simulation results show that the train control performance can be improved substantially in our proposed CBTC system with CoMP.

This paper presents an improved method to teleoperate impedance of a robot based on surface electromyography (EMG) and test it experimentally. Based on a linear mapping between EMG amplitude and stiffness, an incremental stiffness extraction method is developed, which uses instantaneous amplitude identified from EMG in a high frequency band, compensating for non-linear residual error in the linear mapping and preventing muscle fatigue from affecting the control. Experiments on one joint of the Baxter robot are carried out to test the approach in a disturbance attenuation task, and to compare it with automatic human-like impedance adaptation. The experimental results demonstrate that the new human operated impedance method is successful at attenuating disturbance, and results similarly to as automatic disturbance attenuation, thus demonstrating its efficiency. © 2014 Springer International Publishing.

To achieve a fast approach to the dynamic reactive power optimization model, a mixed integer nonlinear programming model was set up, with consideration of the discrete reactive power equipment operation limit and power grid security constraints, to minimize the transmission losses. Furthermore, a method called heuristic search and variable correction was proposed that for the first stage, the discrete variables are relaxed into continuous ones, which leads to an optimization model with equilibrium constraints. According to the optimal value of relaxed model, a mixed integer quadratic programming model is formulated to minimize the objective of approximation variance, satisfied the discrete switching operation constraints in primary model. For the second stage, the continuous variables are redressed with respect to the determined discrete variables. The impact of adjustment step and operation limit on the optimal solution was fully studied in IEEE 14-bus test system. Besides, the result of IEEE 30, 57, 118 test systems show that an optimal solution can fast be obtained by proposed method, and the precision satisfies the actual engineering, which can also employ the parallel technology. © 2014 Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering.

Previous epidemiological researches have studied HFMD transmission pattern, but the study on the patients mobility pattern while seeking treatment is absent. In this paper, we present a statistical analysis of the spatialtemporal pattern of the Beijing HFMD patients mobility based on a complete works dataset containing over 40,000 cases in 2010. The main findings are as follows: (1) the patents incline to take their sick children to hospitals on weekdays, especially on Monday;(2) the patients living far from city center are more likely to get to hospitals in the afternoon, while the patients in the downtown in the morning;(3) patients (or their parents) either select the nearby hospitals, or the Class-A hospitals in the downtown. Furthermore, we employ a gravity model to describe the spatial mobility pattern of patients. The experiment results show a good fit. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
