Glaucoma, a disease characterized by the progressive and irreversible defect of the visual field, requires a lifelong course of treatment once it is confirmed, which highlights the importance of glaucoma early detection. Due to the diversity of glaucoma diagnostic indicators and the diagnostic uncertainty of ophthalmologists, deep learning has been applied to glaucoma diagnosis by automatically extracting characteristics from color fundus images, and that has achieved great performance recently. In this paper, we propose a novel adaptive mask deep network to obtain effective glaucoma diagnosis on retinal fundus images, which fully utilizes the prior knowledge of ophthalmologists on glaucoma diagnosis to synthesize attention masks of color fundus images to locate a reasonable region of interest. Based on the synthesized masks, our method could pay careful attention to the effective visual representation of glaucoma. Experiments on several public and private fundus datasets illustrate that our method could focus on the significant area of glaucoma diagnosis and simultaneously achieve great performance in both academic environments and practical medical applications, which provides a useful contribution to improve the automatic diagnosis of glaucoma. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Estimating Noisy Class Posterior with Part-level Labels for Noisy Label Learning

In noisy label learning, estimating noisy class posteriors plays a fundamental role for developing consistent classifiers, as it forms the basis for estimating clean class posteriors and the transition matrix. Existing methods typically learn noisy class posteriors by training a classification model with noisy labels. However, when labels are incorrect, these models may be misled to overemphasize the feature parts that do not reflect the instance characteristics, resulting in significant errors in estimating noisy class posteriors. To address this issue, this paper proposes to augment the supervised information with part-level labels, encouraging the model to focus on and integrate richer information from various parts. Specifically, our method first partitions features into distinct parts by cropping instances, yielding part-level labels associated with these various parts. Subsequently, we introduce a novel single-to-multiple transition matrix to model the relationship between the noisy and part-level labels, which incorporates part-level labels into a classifier-consistent framework. Utilizing this framework with part-level labels, we can learn the noisy class posteriors more precisely by guiding the model to integrate information from various parts, ultimately improving the classification performance. Video-based human pose estimation has long been a fundamental yet challenging problem in computer vision. Previous studies focus on spatio-temporal modeling through the enhancement of architecture design and optimization strategies. However, they overlook the causal relationships in the joints, leading to models that may be overly tailored and thus estimate poorly to challenging scenes. Therefore, adequate causal reasoning capability, coupled with good interpretability of model, are both indispensable and prerequisite for achieving reliable results. In this paper, we pioneer a causal perspective on pose estimation and introduce a causal-inspired multitask learning framework, consisting of two stages. In the first stage, we try to endow the model with causal spatio-temporal modeling ability by introducing two self-supervision auxiliary tasks. Specifically, these auxiliary tasks enable the network to infer challenging keypoints based on observed keypoint information, thereby imbuing causal reasoning capabilities into the model and making it robust to challenging scenes. In the second stage, we argue that not all feature tokens contribute equally to pose estimation. Prioritizing causal (keypoint-relevant) tokens is crucial to achieve reliable results, which could improve the interpretability of the model. To this end, we propose a Token Causal Importance Selection module to identify the causal tokens and non-causal tokens (e.g., background and objects). Additionally, non-causal tokens could provide potentially beneficial cues but may be redundant. We further introduce a non-causal tokens clustering module to merge the similar non-causal tokens. Extensive experiments show that our method outperforms state-of-the-art methods on three large-scale benchmark datasets. Traditional vision-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology cannot obtain the semantic information of the surrounding environment, which will cause the robot to fail to complete intelligent grasping, human-computer interaction, and other advanced decision tasks. There are many challenges to solve this problem, such as obtaining less semantic information of the environment with low precision and being unable to deal with dynamic objects in a real environment quickly and effectively. In this paper, a robust visual odometry using semantic information in complex dynamic scenes was designed. Specifically, we present a refined instance segmentation method based on the contextual information of the frame to improve the accuracy of segmentation. On this basis, a feature detection and elimination algorithm for dynamic objects based on instance-level semantic information is proposed to improve the localization accuracy of camera pose. We extensively evaluate our system on the public TUM data set and compare it with ORB-SLAM2 and other methods. Experiments show that our methods greatly improve the localization accuracy of the camera pose and the robustness of the system, which verifies that our system is effective in complex dynamic scenes. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

With the prevalence of online review websites, large-scale data promote the necessity of focused analysis. This task aims to capture the information that is highly relevant to a specific aspect. However, the broad scope of the aspects of the various products makes this task overarching but challenging. A commonly used solution is to modify the topic models with additional information to capture the features for a specific aspect (referred to as a targeted aspect). However, the existing topic models, either perform the full analysis to capture features as many as possible or estimate the similarity to capture features as coherent as possible, overlook the fine-grained semantic relations between the features, resulting in the captured features coarse and confusing. In this paper, we propose a novel Hierarchical Features-based Topic Model (HFTM) to extract targeted aspects from online reviews, then to capture the aspect-specific features. Specifically, our model can not only capture the direct features posing target-to-feature semantics but also capture the latent features posing feature-to-feature semantics. The experiments conducted on real-world datasets demonstrate that HFTMl outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines in terms of both aspect extraction and document classification. © 2021 - IOS Press. Social Group Query Based on Multi-Fuzzy-Constrained Strong Simulation

Traditional social group analysis mostly uses interaction models, event models, or other social network analysis methods to identify and distinguish groups. This type of method can divide social participants into different groups based on their geographic location, social relationships, and/or related events. However, in some applications, it is necessary to make more specific restrictions on the members and the interactions between members of the group. Generally, Graph Pattern Matching (GPM) technique is used to solve this problem. However, the existing GPM methods rarely consider the rich contextual information of nodes and edges to measure the credibility between members. In this article, first, a social group query problem that needs to consider the trust between members of the group is proposed. Then, to solve this problem, a multi-fuzzy-constrained strong simulation matching model is proposed based on multi-constrained simulation, and a Strong Simulation GPM algorithm (NTSS) based on the exploration of pattern Node Topological ordered sequence is proposed. Aiming at the inefficiency of the NTSS algorithm when pattern graph with multiple nodes with zero in-degree and the problem of repeated calculation of matching edges shared by multiple matching subgraphs, two optimization strategies are proposed. Finally, we conduct verification experiments on the effectiveness and efficiency of the NTSS algorithm and the algorithms with the optimization strategies on four social network datasets in real applications. Experimental results show that the NTSS algorithm is significantly better than the existing multi-constrained GPM algorithm, and the NTSS_Inv_EdgC algorithm, which combines two optimization strategies, greatly improves the efficiency of the NTSS algorithm.

Antenna configuration plays a critical role in improving channel capacity through optimized antenna spacing, radiation patterns, and coupling. While previous works have explored antenna pattern design for flat fading channels, the optimization of patterns for frequency selective channels, remains under-explored. This paper addresses the antenna pattern design aimed at maximizing capacity in frequency selective channels. We propose a novel discrete representation model for antenna patterns. Based on that, the capacity maximization problem is formulated and solved using a combination of alternating optimization, convex optimization, auxiliary variable method, and the bisection method to achieve antenna pattern design. Numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, demonstrating significant improvements in system capacity. © 2012 IEEE.

CLDG: Contrastive Learning on Dynamic Graphs

The graph with complex annotations is the most potent data type, whose constantly evolving motivates further exploration of the unsupervised dynamic graph representation. One of the representative paradigms is graph contrastive learning. It constructs self-supervised signals by maximizing the mutual information between the statistic graph’s augmentation views. However, the semantics and labels may change within the augmentation process, causing a significant performance drop in downstream tasks. This drawback becomes greatly magnified on dynamic graphs. To address this problem, we designed a simple yet effective framework named CLDG. Firstly, we elaborate that dynamic graphs have temporal translation invariance at different levels. Then, we proposed a sampling layer to extract the temporally-persistent signals. It will encourage the node to maintain consistent local and global representations, i.e., temporal translation invariance under the timespan views. The extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the method on seven datasets by outperforming eight unsupervised state-of-the-art baselines and showing competitiveness against four semi-supervised methods. Compared with the existing dynamic graph method, the number of model parameters and training time is reduced by an average of 2,001.86 times and 130.31 times on seven datasets, respectively.
