Object detection, a quintessential task in the realm of perceptual computing, can be tackled using a generative methodology. In the present study, we introduce a novel framework designed to articulate object detection as a denoising diffusion process, which operates on the perturbed bounding boxes of annotated entities. This framework, termed ConsistencyDet, leverages an innovative denoising concept known as the Consistency Model. The hallmark of this model is its self-consistency feature, which empowers the model to map distorted information from any temporal stage back to its pristine state, thereby realizing a "one-step denoising" mechanism. Such an attribute markedly elevates the operational efficiency of the model, setting it apart from the conventional Diffusion Model. Throughout the training phase, ConsistencyDet initiates the diffusion sequence with noise-infused boxes derived from the ground-truth annotations and conditions the model to perform the denoising task. Subsequently, in the inference stage, the model employs a denoising sampling strategy that commences with bounding boxes randomly sampled from a normal distribution. Through iterative refinement, the model transforms an assortment of arbitrarily generated boxes into definitive detections. Comprehensive evaluations employing standard benchmarks, such as MS-COCO and LVIS, corroborate that ConsistencyDet surpasses other leading-edge detectors in performance metrics. Studies have shown that learning personal stories could help provide individualized eldercare services. However, personal stories are often disordered because of the scattered collection, including informal interviews or daily interactions, which brings difficulties in acquiring valuable information quickly. One solution to this problem is to extract events from personal stories and automatically organize them in chronological order. Events extracted by current methods from social media or news corpus are mainly organized in a linear structure. These works usually focus on the event time and ignore the consistency of event contents when organizing events. This paper aims to organize events into a tree structure based on an event network, with stem nodes representing key event topics and branch nodes representing detailed events. Social workers or caregivers can clarify the life experience of the older adults quickly through the event tree and have a preliminary understanding of them. The experiments show that the event tree generated by our method has a better performance in consistency than current event organization methods. A survey study shows that our method achieves the highest logical coherence for the event tree branches compared with other algorithms. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This study aims to clarify the contours of artificial intelligence (AI) and present how it has evolved in different publication venues in the different stages of its development. Based on the noun phrases extracted from scientific papers of AI, the authors constructed the co-occurrence network of noun phrases to visualize the context of AI. There exists a tension between the original descriptive concept of AI as defined initially in the workshop at Dartmouth College and the relatively recent, vague, and extensible concept of AI. AI is used as a technique or boundary object by different scientific publication venues. This paper creatively applies the boundary object theory to clarify the contours of the concept of AI. Besides, the results will bridge the gap between different stakeholders (e.g., AI researchers, government policy makers, and business entities) in different communities together and promote the efficient and effective discussion and communication about AI. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

When natural or man-made disasters occur at sea, a maritime unmanned rescue system-of-systems (MURSoSs), as an important guarantee for the safety of people's lives and property, has a rapid response to emergency rescue services. In the design process of MURSoSs, it is often faced with problems such as unexplainable mechanisms and inaccurate modeling due to the characteristics of multi-level coupling and irregular emergence. A design method of MURSoSs based on an attention Transformer is proposed. First, this paper decomposes the MURSoSs into a multi-level organizational structure composed of individual performance, group structure, and overall effectiveness. Second, the maritime unmanned rescue simulation environment is constructed, to obtain the multi-level evolution data of group structure and overall effectiveness under different individual performance, and the attention Transformer is used to mine the functional correlation relationship between levels. Finally, the experimental simulation prediction is carried out by using this function relationship. Taking the design of MURSoSs as an example, the results show that the constructed model accurately quantifies the correlation relationship between levels and effectively reveal the internal logic of the emergence process of maritime rescue.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have emerged as the potential aerial base stations (BSs) to improve terrestrial communications. However, the limited onboard energy and antenna power of a UAV restrict its communication range and transmission capability. To address these limitations, this work employs collaborative beamforming through a UAV-enabled virtual antenna array to improve transmission performance from the UAV to terrestrial mobile users, under interference from non-associated BSs and dynamic channel conditions. Specifically, we introduce a memory-based random walk model to more accurately depict the mobility patterns of terrestrial mobile users. Following this, we formulate a multi-objective optimization problem (MOP) focused on maximizing the transmission rate while minimizing the flight energy consumption of the UAV swarm. Given the NP-hard nature of the formulated MOP and the highly dynamic environment, we transform this problem into a multi-objective Markov decision process and propose an improved evolutionary multi-objective reinforcement learning algorithm. Specifically, this algorithm introduces an evolutionary learning approach to obtain the approximate Pareto set for the formulated MOP. Moreover, the algorithm incorporates a long short-term memory network and hyper-sphere-based task selection method to discern the movement patterns of terrestrial mobile users and improve the diversity of the obtained Pareto set. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively generates a diverse range of non-dominated policies and outperforms existing methods. Additional simulations demonstrate the scalability and robustness of the proposed CB-based method under different system parameters and various unexpected circumstances. © 2025, CC0.

Human-in-The-Loop Optimization for Vehicle Body Lightweight Design

Automatic optimization algorithms play an important role in vehicle body lightweight design;however, the existing methods are still inefficient and result in excessive iterations that escalate both time and costs. Current interactive optimization strategies partially mitigate this issue but fall short in offering a broad spectrum of manipulation points and auxiliary information model, essential for optimizing design efficiency and accuracy. As such, we introduce a novel approach, "Human-in-the-Loop based method for Vehicle Body Lightweight Design" (HIL-VBLD). This method seamlessly integrates human decision-making with optimization algorithms to reduce unproductive iterations. HIL-VBLD comprises two key components: (1) a novel interaction mode offering multiple manipulation points including constraint modification, algorithm switching, and selection of solutions of interest (SOI);(2) A comprehensive auxiliary information model aids in decision-making for designers. Our analysis underscores HIL-VBLD's efficacy, evidenced by a 54.5% reduction in iteration cycles for genetic algorithm using SOI selection. Algorithm switching led to a 4.5% mass reduction, circumventing local optimum pitfalls associated with gradient algorithms. Additionally, the auxiliary information model contributed to a further 1.25% mass reduction, enhancing optimization robustness. Compared to conventional automatic algorithm switching strategies, HIL-VBLD maintains equivalent accuracy with 23.9% fewer iterations. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Few-shot Open Relation Extraction with Gaussian Prototype and Adaptive Margin

Few-shot relation extraction with none-of-the-above (FsRE with NOTA) aims at predicting labels in few-shot scenarios with unknown classes. FsRE with NOTA is more challenging than the conventional few-shot relation extraction task, since the boundaries of unknown classes are complex and difficult to learn. Meta-learning based methods, especially prototype-based methods, are the mainstream solutions to this task. They obtain the classification boundary by learning the sample distribution of each class. However, their performance is limited because few-shot overfitting and NOTA boundary confusion lead to misclassification between known and unknown classes. To this end, we propose a novel framework based on Gaussian prototype and adaptive margin named GPAM for FsRE with NOTA, which includes three modules, semi-factual representation, GMM-prototype metric learning and decision boundary learning. The first two modules obtain better representations to solve the few-shot problem through debiased information enhancement and Gaussian space distance measurement. The third module learns more accurate classification boundaries and prototypes through adaptive margin and negative sampling. In the training procedure of GPAM, we use contrastive learning loss to comprehensively consider the effects of range and margin on the classification of known and unknown classes to ensure the model's stability and robustness. Sufficient experiments and ablations on the FewRel dataset show that GPAM surpasses previous prototype methods and achieves state-of-the-art performance. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. The rapid development of the low-altitude economy (LAE) has significantly increased the utilization of autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs) in various applications, necessitating efficient and secure communication methods among AAV swarms. In this work, we aim to introduce distributed collaborative beamforming (DCB) into AAV swarms and handle the eavesdropper collusion by controlling the corresponding signal distributions. Specifically, we consider a two-way DCB-enabled aerial communication between two AAV swarms and construct these swarms as two AAV virtual antenna arrays. Then, we minimize the two-way known secrecy capacity and maximum sidelobe level to avoid information leakage from the known and unknown eavesdroppers, respectively. Simultaneously, we also minimize the energy consumption of AAVs when constructing virtual antenna arrays. Due to the conflicting relationships between secure performance and energy efficiency, we consider these objectives by formulating a multi-objective optimization problem, which is NP-hard and with a large number of decision variables. Accordingly, we design a novel generative swarm intelligence (GenSI) framework to solve the problem with less overhead, which contains a conditional variational autoencoder (CVAE)-based generative method and a proposed powerful swarm intelligence algorithm. In this framework, CVAE can collect expert solutions obtained by the swarm intelligence algorithm in other environment states to explore characteristics and patterns, thereby directly generating high-quality initial solutions in new environment factors for the swarm intelligence algorithm to search solution space efficiently. Simulation results show that the proposed swarm intelligence algorithm outperforms other state-of-the-art baseline algorithms, and the GenSI can achieve similar optimization results by using far fewer iterations than the ordinary swarm intelligence algorithm. knowledge Graph (KG) is a directed heterogeneous information network that contains a large number of entities and relations, which is widely used as effective side information in rec-ommender systems. Moreover, in recommender systems, the Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) model is introduced to mine the relatedness between entities in a KG because of its efficiency in extracting spatial features on topological graphs. The knowledge Graph Convolutional Network (KGCN) model up-dates the embedding of a currently positioned entity by aggregating the information of adjacent entities selected randomly. Never-theless, it has two limititations: 1) the information of neighbors se-lected randomly cannot accurately represent the current entity in the KG; 2) the model is hard to converge as graph features (i.e. The spatial relation features and semantic information features of en-tities in the KG) grow. To solve these limitations, in this paper, a meta-path (i.e., a sequence of artificially constructed relationships) is introduced into the selection of neighbors in the KGCN model to enhance the representation of each entity. Furthermore, two construction methods of the meta-path - constructing a meta-path based on the same relation (KGCN-SP) and the characteris-tics of KG (KGCN-MP) -are proposed. The experiments based on three real-world datasets demonstrate that the neighbor selection based on the meta-path is able to collect more accurate infor-mation from a KG and improve the recommendation performance effectively.

knowledge graph alignment aims to link equivalent entities across different knowledge graphs. To utilize both the graph structures and the side information such as name, description and attributes, most of the works propagate the side information especially names through linked entities by graph neural networks. However, due to the heterogeneity of different knowledge graphs, the alignment accuracy will be suffered from aggregating different neighbors. This work presents an interaction model to only leverage the side information. Instead of aggregating neighbors, we compute the interactions between neighbors which can capture fine-grained matches of neighbors. Similarly, the interactions of attributes are also modeled. Experimental results show that our model significantly outperforms the best state-of-the-art methods by 1.9-9.7% in terms of HitRatio@1 on the dataset DBP15K. © 2020 Inst. Sci. inf., Univ.
