Order-preserving pattern (OPP) mining is a type of sequential pattern mining method in which a group of ranks of time series is used to represent an OPP. This approach can discover frequent trends in time series. Existing OPP mining algorithms consider data points at different time to be equally important;however, newer data usually have a more significant impact, while older data have a weaker impact. We therefore introduce the forgetting mechanism into OPP mining to reduce the importance of older data. This paper explores the mining of OPPs with forgetting mechanism (OPF) and proposes an algorithm called OPF-Miner that can discover frequent OPFs. OPF-Miner performs two tasks, candidate pattern generation and support calculation. In candidate pattern generation, OPF-Miner employs a maximal support priority strategy and a group pattern fusion strategy to avoid redundant pattern fusions. For support calculation, we propose an algorithm called support calculation with forgetting mechanism, which uses prefix and suffix pattern pruning strategies to avoid redundant support calculations. The experiments are conducted on nine datasets and 12 alternative algorithms. The results verify that OPF-Miner is superior to other competitive algorithms. Recently, digital economy in social science has become increasingly significant. A well-constructed evaluation structure could generally and promptly describe and reveal its overall social digitalization development. Building on existent researches, this paper improves the evaluation system, which comprises four first-level indicators and thirty-one second-level indicators. Notably, this paper innovatively incorporates higher education into digital innovation of the evaluation. The Entropy method is utilized to assign weights to various indicators in an objective way, with employing the TOPSIS approach to prioritize the development of digital economy in places based on the closeness to the ideal solution. By analysing related data related from 31 provinces in China between 2017 to 2021, this paper greatly finds: Firstly, the development of digital economy vary significantly across provinces, with most provinces at a relatively poor level, indicating considerable potential for overall growth; Secondly, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shandong consistently ranked in the top four from 2017 to 2021, reflecting their specific development attributes and their emphasis on digital economy; Thirdly, significant disparities exist both between regions and among provinces. Consequently, this paper suggests establishing a comprehensive national digital economy development plan, formulating region-specific digital economy policies tailored to local conditions, and encouraging leading provinces to actively share experiences with other provinces.

A Low-rank Matching Attention based Cross-modal Feature Fusion Method for Conversational Emotion Recognition

Conversational emotion recognition (CER) is an important research topic in human-computer interactions. Although recent advancements in transformer-based cross-modal fusion methods have shown promise in CER tasks, they tend to overlook the crucial intra-modal and inter-modal emotional interaction or suffer from high computational complexity. To address this, we introduce a novel and lightweight cross-modal feature fusion method called Low-Rank Matching Attention Method (LMAM). LMAM effectively captures contextual emotional semantic information in conversations while mitigating the quadratic complexity issue caused by the self-attention mechanism. Specifically, by setting a matching weight and calculating inter-modal features attention scores row by row, LMAM requires only one-third of the parameters of self-attention methods. We also employ the low-rank decomposition method on the weights to further reduce the number of parameters in LMAM. As a result, LMAM offers a lightweight model while avoiding overfitting problems caused by a large number of parameters. Moreover, LMAM is able to fully exploit the intra-modal emotional contextual information within each modality and integrates complementary emotional semantic information across modalities by computing and fusing similarities of intra-modal and inter-modal features simultaneously. Experimental results verify the superiority of LMAM compared with other popular cross-modal fusion methods on the premise of being more lightweight. Also, LMAM can be embedded into any existing state-of-the-art CER methods in a plug-and-play manner, and can be applied to other multi-modal recognition tasks, e.g., session recommendation and humour detection, demonstrating its remarkable generalization ability. AutoSTL: Automated Spatio-Temporal Multi-Task Learning

Spatio-temporal prediction plays a critical role in smart city construction. Jointly modeling multiple spatio-temporal tasks can further promote an intelligent city life by integrating their inseparable relationship. However, existing studies fail to address this joint learning problem well, which generally solve tasks individually or a fixed task combination. The challenges lie in the tangled relation between different properties, the demand for supporting flexible combinations of tasks and the complex spatio-temporal dependency. To cope with the problems above, we propose an Automated Spatio-Temporal multi-task Learning (AutoSTL) method to handle multiple spatio-temporal tasks jointly. Firstly, we propose a scalable architecture consisting of advanced spatio-temporal operations to exploit the complicated dependency. Shared modules and feature fusion mechanism are incorporated to further capture the intrinsic relationship between tasks. Furthermore, our model automatically allocates the operations and fusion weight. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets verified that our model achieves state-of-the-art performance. An integration of satellites and terrestrial networks is crucial for enhancing performance of next generation communication systems. However, the networks are hindered by the long-distance path loss and security risks in dense urban environments. In this work, we propose a satellite-terrestrial covert communication system assisted by the aerial active simultaneous transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (AASTAR-RIS) to improve the channel capacity while ensuring the transmission covertness. Specifically, we first derive the minimal detection error probability (DEP) under the worst condition that the Warden has perfect channel state information (CSI). Then, we formulate an AASTAR-RIS-assisted satellite-terrestrial covert communication optimization problem (ASCCOP) to maximize the sum of the fair channel capacity for all ground users while meeting the strict covert constraint, by jointly optimizing the trajectory and active beamforming of the AASTAR-RIS. Due to the challenges posed by the complex and high-dimensional state-action spaces as well as the need for efficient exploration in dynamic environments, we propose a generative deterministic policy gradient (GDPG) algorithm, which is a generative deep reinforcement learning (DRL) method to solve the ASCCOP. Concretely, the generative diffusion model (GDM) is utilized as the policy representation of the algorithm to enhance the exploration process by generating diverse and high-quality samples through a series of denoising steps. Moreover, we incorporate an action gradient mechanism to accomplish the policy improvement of the algorithm, which refines the better state-action pairs through the gradient ascent. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach significantly outperforms important benchmarks, and also validate the performance and practicality under different algorithm parameters and environment settings. The key challenge of image manipulation detection is how to learn generalizable features that are sensitive to manipulations in novel data, whilst specific to prevent false alarms on authentic images. Current research emphasizes the sensitivity, with the specificity overlooked. In this paper we address both aspects by multi-view feature learning and multi-scale supervision. By exploiting noise distribution and boundary artifact surrounding tampered regions, the former aims to learn semantic-agnostic and thus more generalizable features. The latter allows us to learn from authentic images which are nontrivial to be taken into account by current semantic segmentation network based methods. Our thoughts are realized by a new network which we term MVSS-Net. Extensive experiments on five benchmark sets justify the viability of MVSS-Net for both pixel-level and image-level manipulation detection. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

RPR-Net: A Point Cloud-based Rotation-aware Large Scale Place Recognition Network

Point cloud-based large scale place recognition is an important but challenging task for many applications such as Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM). Taking the task as a point cloud retrieval problem, previous methods have made delightful achievements. However, how to deal with catastrophic collapse caused by rotation problems is still under-explored. In this paper, to tackle the issue, we propose a novel Point Cloud-based Rotation-aware Large Scale Place Recognition Network (RPR-Net). In particular, to solve the problem, we propose to learn rotation-invariant features in three steps. First, we design three kinds of novel Rotation-Invariant Features (RIFs), which are low-level features that can hold the rotation-invariant property. Second, using these RIFs, we design an attentive module to learn rotation-invariant kernels. Third, we apply these kernels to previous point cloud features to generate new features, which is the well-known SO(3) mapping process. By doing so, high-level scene-specific rotation-invariant features can be learned. We call the above process an Attentive Rotation-Invariant Convolution (ARIConv). To achieve the place recognition goal, we build RPR-Net, which takes ARIConv as a basic unit to construct a dense network architecture. Then, powerful global descriptors used for retrieval-based place recognition can be sufficiently extracted from RPR-Net. Experimental results on prevalent datasets show that our method achieves comparable results to existing state-of-the-art place recognition models and significantly outperforms other rotation-invariant baseline models when solving rotation problems. In this article, we propose new network architectures that integrate multi-functional reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (MF-RISs) into 6G networks to enhance both communication and sensing capabilities. Firstly, we elaborate how to leverage MF-RISs for improving communication performance in different communication modes including unicast, mulitcast, and broadcast and for different multi-access schemes. Next, we emphasize synergistic benefits of integrating MF-RISs with wireless sensing, enabling more accurate and efficient target detection in 6G networks. Furthermore, we present two schemes that utilize MF-RISs to enhance the performance of integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). We also study multi-objective optimization to achieve the optimal trade-off between communication and sensing performance. Finally, we present numerical results to show the performance improvements offered by MF-RISs compared to conventional RISs in ISAC. With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technology, the usage of machine learning models is gradually becoming part of our daily lives. High-quality models rely not only on efficient optimization algorithms but also on the training and learning processes built upon vast amounts of data and computational power. However, in practice, due to various challenges such as limited computational resources and data privacy concerns, users in need of models often cannot train machine learning models locally. This has led them to explore alternative approaches such as outsourced learning and federated learning. While these methods address the feasibility of model training effectively, they introduce concerns about the trustworthiness of the training process since computations are not performed locally. Similarly, there are trustworthiness issues associated with outsourced model inference. These two problems can be summarized as the trustworthiness problem of model computations: How can one verify that the results computed by other participants are derived according to the specified algorithm, model, and input data? To address this challenge, verifiable machine learning (VML) has emerged. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of zero-knowledge proof-based verifiable machine learning (ZKP-VML) technology. We first analyze the potential verifiability issues that may exist in different machine learning scenarios. Subsequently, we provide a formal definition of ZKP-VML. We then conduct a detailed analysis and classification of existing works based on their technical approaches.
