Stability and Stabilization of Sampled-Data Based LFC for Power systems:A Data-Driven Method

Dear Editor,This letter is concerned with stability analysis and stabilization design for sampled-data based load frequency control(LFC) systems via a data-driven method. By describing the dynamic behavior of LFC systems based on a data-based representation, a stability criterion is derived to obtain the admissible maximum sampling interval(MSI) for a given controller and a design condition of the PI-type controller is further developed to meet the required MSI. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed methods is verified by a case study.

Electrochemical reduction of CO_(2)is a promising approach to convert CO_(2)to high-valued chemicals and ***,developing efficient electrocatalysts featuring desirable activity and selectivity is still a big *** this work,a strategy of introducing functionalized molecules with desirable CO_(2)affinity to regulate Ag catalyst for promoting electrochemical reduction of CO_(2)was ***,3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole was introduced onto the Ag nanoparticle(Ag-m-Triz)for the first time to achieve selectively converting CO_(2)to carbon monoxide(CO).This Ag-m-Triz exhibits excellent performance for CO_(2)reduction with a high CO Faradaic efficiency(FECO)of 99.2%and CO partial current density of 85.0 mA cm^(-2)at-2.3 V ***/Ag^(+) in H-cell when combined with the ionic liquid-based electrolyte,30 wt%1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate([Bmim][PF6])-65 wt%acetonitrile(AcN)-5 wt%H2O,which is 2.5-fold higher than the current density in Ag-powder under the same *** studies confirm that the significantly improved performance of Ag-m-Triz originates from(i)the stronger adsorption ability of CO_(2)molecule and(ii)the weaker binding energy to form the COOH*intermediate on the surface of Ag-m-Triz compared with the Ag-powder catalyst,which boosts the conversion of CO_(2)to *** research provides a facile way to regulate electrocatalysts for efficient CO_(2)reduction by introducing functionalized molecules.

Exploring multiple phases and first-order phase transitions in Kármán Vortex Street

Kármán Vortex Street, a fascinating phenomenon of fluid dynamics, has intrigued the scientific community for a long time. Many researchers have dedicated their efforts to unraveling the essence of this intriguing flow pattern. Here, we apply the lattice Boltzmann method with curved boundary conditions to simulate flows around a circular cylinder and study the emergence of Kármán Vortex Street using the eigen microstate approach, which can identify phase transition and its order-parameter. At low Reynolds number, there is only one dominant eigen microstate W_(1) of laminar flow. At Re_(c)^(1)= 53.6, there is a phase transition with the emergence of an eigen microstate pair W^(2,3) of pressure and velocity fields. Further at Re_(c)^(2)= 56, there is another phase transition with the emergence of two eigen microstate pairs W^(4,5) and W^(6,7). Using the renormalization group theory of eigen microstate,both phase transitions are determined to be first-order. The two-dimensional energy spectrum of eigen microstate for W^(1), W^(2,3) after Re_(c)^(1), W^(4-7) after Re_(c)^(2) exhibit-5/3 power-law behavior of Kolnogorov's K41 theory. These results reveal the complexity and provide an analysis of the Kármán Vortex Street from the perspective of phase transitions.

Investigation on the influence of vortex generator on particle resuspension

The vortex generator(VG)and its well-known effect in flow optimization are widely studied and employed across different engineering ***,while the same working principles of VG may be well suited for the applications on surface-cleaning technologies,such promising potential is hardly,if any,explored in the published ***,in the present study,the influence on flow-induced particle resuspension brought by a rectangular vG in a channel flow is investigated with the help of highfidelity computational fluid dynamics *** increases of particle removal forces and resuspension rates are discovered in long,strip-like regions with reduced boundary-layer thickness resulted from the vG-induced vortices,and the enhancement effect is especially significant for configurations with the VG installed at a greater angle of *** is also shown that while the resuspension enhancements on the lower and the upper surfaces of the channel exhibit distinct statistical characteristics,having a VG in the channel improves the overall particle-removing capability of the channel flow by introducing higher surface-averaged removal forces and particle resuspension *** but not least,the increase of resuspension rate is especially significant for the smaller,micron-scale particles which are otherwise hardly disturbed by a VG-less channel flow,and such resuspension-enhancement effectgenerally subsides with increasing particle size.

Balanced prioritized experience replay in off-policy reinforcement learning

In Off-Policy reinforcement learning (RL), the experience imbalance problem can affect learning performance. The experience imbalance problem refers to the phenomenon that the experiences obtained by the agent during the learning process are unevenly distributed in the state space, resulting in the agent’s inability to accurately estimate the value of each potential state. This problem is typically caused by environments with high-dimensional state and action spaces, as well as the exploration–exploitation mechanism inherent in RL. This article proposes a balanced prioritized experience replay (BPER) algorithm based on experience rarity. First, an evaluation metric to quantify experience rarity is defined. Then, the sampling priority of each experience is calculated according to this metric. Finally, prioritized experience replay is performed according to the sampling priority. BPER increases the sampling frequency of high-rarity experiences and decreases the sampling frequency of low-rarity experiences, enabling the agent to learn more comprehensive knowledge. We evaluate BPER on a series of MuJoCo continuous control tasks. Experimental results show that BPER can effectively improve the learning performance while mitigating the impact of the experience imbalance problem. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Decentralized Game-based Auction Algorithm for Scheduling Robotic Chargers to Service EVs with Uncertain Demands

In this study, we introduce a novel auction-based algorithm modeled as a decentralized coalition formation game, designed for the complex requirements of large-scale multi-robot task allocation under uncertain demand. This context is particularly illustrative in scenarios where robots are tasked to charge electric vehicles. The algorithm begins by partitioning a composite task sequence into distinct subsets based on spatial similarity principles. Subsequently, we employ a coalition formation game paradigm to coordinate the assembly of robots into cooperative coalitions focused on these distinct subsets. To mitigate the impact of unpredictable task demands on allocations, our approach utilizes the conditional value-at-risk to assess the risk associated with task execution, along with computing the potential revenue of the coalition with an emphasis on risk-related outcomes. Additionally, integrating consensus auctions into the coalition formation framework allows our approach to accommodate assignments for individual robot-task pairings, thus preserving the stability of individual robotic decision autonomy within the coalition structure and assignment distribution. Simulative analyses on a prototypical parking facility layout confirm that our algorithm achieves Nash equilibrium within the coalition structure in polynomial time and demonstrates significant scalability. Compared to competing algorithms, our proposal exhibits superior performance in resilience, task execution efficiency, and reduced overall task completion times. The results demonstrate that our approach is an effective strategy for solving the scheduling challenges encountered by multi-robot systems operating in complex environments. IEEE

Nowadays,it is still a challenge to prepared high efficiency and low cost formaldehyde(HCHO)removal catalysts in order to tackle the long-living indoor air ***,δ-MnO_(2)is successfully synthesized by a facile ozonation strategy,where Mn^(2+)is oxidized by ozone(O_(3))bubble in an alkaline *** presents one of the best catalytic properties with a low 100%conversion temperature of 85℃for 50 ppm of HCHO under a GHSV of 48,000 mL/(g·hr).As a comparison,more than 6 times far longer oxidation time is needed if O3 is replaced by O_(2).Characterizations show that ozonation process generates a different intermediate of tetragonalβ-HMnO_(2),which would favor the quick transformation into the final productδ-MnO_(2),as compared with the relatively more thermodynamically stable monoclinicγ-HMnO_(2)in the O_(2)***,HCHO is found to be decomposed into CO_(2)via formate,dioxymethylene and carbonate species as identified by room temperature insitu diffuse reflectance infrared fourier transform *** these results show great potency of this facile ozonation routine for the highly activeδ-MnO_(2)synthesis in order to remove the HCHO contamination.
