Degenerate multi-objective test problems are included in test suites to evaluate EMO algorithms on a wide variety of test problems. However, it was pointed out in some studies that the frequently-used degenerate DTLZ5, DTLZ6 and WFG3 test problems do not have degenerate Pareto fronts. Their Pareto fronts are different from the originally intended degenerate shapes. Actually, they are partially degenerate test problems. Modified formulations of DTLZ5 and DTLZ6 were proposed to remove the non-degenerate parts of their Pareto fronts. However, the original formulations of DTLZ5, DTLZ6 and WFG3 continue to be used as degenerate test problems in many studies whereas they are not degenerate test problems. One issue in their use as degenerate test problems is that reference point sets for IGD calculation are sampled from the originally intended degenerate Pareto fronts whereas they are not the true Pareto fronts. Nevertheless, the original DTLZ5, DTLZ6 and WFG3 formulations are useful for performance evaluation of EMO algorithms since their Pareto front shapes are similar to some real-world problems and much more complicated than other test problems. That is, their use helps us to evaluate the performance of EMO algorithms on a wide variety of test problems including realistic and challenging test problems. In this paper, we clearly demonstrate the usefulness of the original DTLZ5, DTLZ6 and WFG3 formulations. Then, after pointing out the difficulty in their use in computational experiments, we explain how we can obtain reliable experimental results on those test problems. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

A well-recognized and widely-used explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) method is Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations (LIME), which offers instance-level interpretation by generating new data around the instance and training a locally interpretable linear model. However, when using LIME to explain the image classification model, it generates interpretations at the level of super-pixel representation. This does not assure comprehensibility to humans due to the lack of semantic information in super-pixels. To enhance the intelligibility of LIME, we propose an advanced version of LIME, termed Concept-based Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations (ConceptLIME). In ConceptLIME, the explanations are formulated in terms of human-understandable concepts as opposed to the semantically deficient super-pixels, thereby augmenting the comprehensibility of the original LIME method. Comparative experiments have been conducted between ConceptLIME and LIME to validate the effectiveness of ConceptLIME. The experimental results indicate that ConceptLIME outperforms LIME regarding predictive performance on both the perturbation dataset and the explained instances. Moreover, the fidelity of the explanations generated by ConceptLIME surpasses that produced by LIME. The interpretations provided by ConceptLIME are more intelligible and intuitive than LIME’s explanations. Consequently, our proposed ConceptLIME exhibits superior properties, including predictive performance, fidelity, and comprehensibility, when compared with LIME. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2024.

Non-collinear antiferromagnetic Weyl semimetals,combining the advantages of a zero stray field and ultrafast spin dynamics,as well as a large anomalous Hall effect and the chiral anomaly of Weyl fermions,have attracted extensive ***,the all-electrical control of such systems at room temperature,a crucial step toward practical application,has not been ***,using a small writing current density of around 5 × 10～6 A·cm-2,we realize the all-electrical current-induced deterministic switching of the non-collinear antiferromagnet Mn3Sn,with a strong readout signal at room temperature in the Si/SiO2/Mn3Sn/AlOxstructure,and without external magnetic field or injected spin *** simulations reveal that the switching originates from the current-induced intrinsic non-collinear spin-orbit torques in Mn3Sn *** findings pave the way for the development of topological antiferromagnetic spintronics.

Surrogate-Assisted Multiobjective Neural Architecture Search for Real-Time Semantic Segmentation

The architectural advancements in deep neural networks have led to remarkable leap-forwards across a broad array of computer vision tasks. Instead of relying on human expertise, neural architecture search (NAS) has emerged as a promising avenue toward automating the design of architectures. While recent achievements on image classification have suggested opportunities, the promises of NAS have yet to be thoroughly assessed on more challenging tasks of semantic segmentation. The main challenges of applying NAS to semantic segmentation arise from two aspects: 1) high-resolution images to be processed;2) additional requirement of real-time inference speed (i.e., real-time semantic segmentation) for applications such as autonomous driving. To meet such challenges, we propose a surrogate-assisted multiobjective method in this article. Through a series of customized prediction models, our method effectively transforms the original NAS task to an ordinary multiobjective optimization problem. Followed by a hierarchical prescreening criterion for in-fill selection, our method progressively achieves a set of efficient architectures trading-off between segmentation accuracy and inference speed. Empirical evaluations on three benchmark datasets together with an application using Huawei Atlas 200 DK suggest that our method can identify architectures significantly outperforming existing state-of-the-art architectures designed both manually by human experts and automatically by other NAS methods. Histological image classification plays a crucial role in cancer diagnosis. However, the acquisition of well-labeled histological images is prohibitively expensive, and obtaining rare abnormal samples is challenging. Therefore, applying few-shot learning methods to histological image classification tasks holds significant clinical value. Nevertheless, existing research predom-inantly relies on coarse-grained image classification approaches based on natural image datasets, which struggle to address the fine-grained challenges encountered in histological image classification, such as intra-class diversity and inter-class similarity. To tackle this issue, this study proposes a novel few-shot fine-grained classification method for histological images, named 'Category-Aware Feature Map Reconstruction Network.' This method employs channel weights to localize the differences between inter-class and intra-class regions, composed of intra-class channel weights and inter-class channel weights, collectively referred to as category-aware weights. Specifically, intra-class channel weights indicate the matching degree of salient regions within the support set of a particular class, while inter-class channel weights represent the degree of containing distinct information between classes. The category-aware weights are utilized to transform the support feature maps and query feature maps, generating feature maps that capture differentiating details between categories. Finally, the distance between the transformed query feature map and support feature map is calculated to achieve probabilistic predictions for the categories. On a histological few-shot dataset, this method achieves an accuracy of 90.23% using ResNet-12 as the feature extractor, surpassing the baseline model by 5.24% and outperforming other few-shot methods by at least 10% in the 5-way 10-shot experimental setting. The rapidly growing demand for lithium iron phosphate(LiFePO_(4))as the cathode material of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)has aggravated the scarcity of phosphorus(P)reserves on *** study introduces an environmentally friendly and economical method of P recovery from municipal wastewater,providing the P source for LiFePO_(4) *** novel approach utilizes the sludge of Fe-coagulant-based chemical P removal(CPR)in wastewater *** a sintering treatment with acid washing,the CPR sludge,enriched with P and Fe,transforms into purified P-Fe oxides(Fe2.1P1.0O5.6).These oxides can substitute up to 35%of the FePO_(4) reagent as precursor,producing a carbon-coated LiFePO_(4)(LiFePO_(4)/C)cathode with a specific discharge capacity of 114.9 mA·h·g^(-1)at current density of 17 mA·g^(-1)),and cycle stability of 99.2%after 100 *** enhanced cycle performance of the as-prepared LiFePO_(4)/C cathode may be attributed to the incorporations of impurities(such as Ca^(2+)and Na^(+))from sludge,with improved stability of crystal *** conventional P-fertilizers,this P recovery technology converts 100%of P in CPR sludge into the production of value-added LiFePO_(4)/C *** recovered P from municipal wastewater can meet up to 35%of the P demand in the Chinese LIBs industry,offering a cost-effective solution for addressing the pressing challenges of P scarcity.
