In this paper,a robust modified weak Galerkin(MWG)finite element method for reaction-diffusion equations is proposed and *** advantage of this method is that it can deal with the singularly perturbed reaction-diffusion *** advantage of this method is that it produces fewer degrees of freedom than the traditional WG method by eliminating the element boundaries *** is worth pointing out that,in our method,the test functions space is the same as the finite element space,which is helpful for the error *** error estimates are established for the corresponding numerical approximation in various *** numerical results are reported to confirm the theory.

Distribution of antibiotic resistance genes and their association with bacteria and viruses in decentralized sewage treatment facilities

The distribution of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)has been intensively studied in large-scale wastewater treatment plants and livestock ***,small-scale decentralized sewage treatment facilities must also be explored due to their possible direct exposure to *** this study,six wastewater treatment facilities in developed rural areas in eastern China were investigated to understand their risks of spreading *** metagenomics and network analysis tools,ARGs and bacterial and viral communities were identified in the influent(INF)and effluent(EFF)*** dominant ARGs belonged to the bacitracin class,which are different from most of municipal wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs).The dominant hosts of ARGs are Acidovorax in bacterial communities and Prymnesiovirus in viral ***,a positive relationship was found between ARGs and *** ARGs significantly correlated with phages were all hosted by specific genera of bacteria,indicating that phages had contributed to the ARG’s proliferation in sewage treatment *** significant concern on the possible enhanced risks caused by bacteria,viruses and their related ARGs in decentralized sewage treatment facilities is necessary.

Interference-assisted energy harvesting short packet communications with hardware impairments

Radio frequency energy harvesting offers a promising solution to provide low power Internet of Things (IoT) devices with convenient and perpetual energy supply. In this work, we investigate the reliable performance of an energy-constrained transmitter communicating with a receiver over Nakagami-m channel, where the effects of transceiver hardware impairments and finite blocklength coding are jointly considered. Specifically, the communication link between the transmitter and receiver operates within the coverage of an existing wireless system, with radio frequency signal from the existing system serving as an energy signal for the transmitter while acting as an interference signal for the receiver. By utilizing the finite-blocklength information theory, we first derive average block error rate (BLER) and asymptotic average BLER in closed-form expressions, which enable us to quantify the extent of reliability loss. Then, we analyze effective throughput of the system, and determine the optimal blocklength that maximizes the effective throughput. Computer simulations are employed to validate the accuracy of our analytical findings, demonstrating the presence of an outage threshold solely due to hardware impairments. Furthermore, if transmission rate exceeds the outage threshold defined by the level of hardware impairments, reliable communication within the system under consideration cannot be achieved, regardless of the transmit signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). © 2024 The Authors

New Upper Solution Bounds of a Class of the Continuous Algebraic Riccati Equations and Their Application in Redundant Control Inputs Systems

In the redundant control inputs problems, the norm of the feedback matrix is smaller, the controlled system is better for control. Therefore, it is the key to solve these problems for studying upper and lower bounds of the symmetric positive definite solutions of the continuous algebra Riccati equations(CAREs) corresponding to the controlled systems. In this paper, we obtain a convergent matrix series as upper bound of the symmetric positive definite solution for a special class of the CAREs. It is the limit of monotonically decreasing upper bound sequence of the symmetric positive definite solution. We use numerous numerical experiments to illustrate that upper bounds obtained are better than the relevant results in the existing literature when the terms are sufficiently large. Moreover, we apply the main theoretical results to the related redundant control inputs systems. Under a wider range of conditions, a class of redundant control inputs problems is solved, and the recent relevant results are improved. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

An inverse design method for supercritical airfoil based on conditional generative models

Inverse design has long been an efficient and powerful design tool in the aircraft *** this paper,a novel inverse design method for supercritical airfoils is proposed based on generative models in deep learning.A Conditional Variational Auto Encoder(CVAE)and an integrated generative network CVAE-GAN that combines the CVAE with the Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Networks(WGAN),are conducted as generative *** are used to generate target wall Mach distributions for the inverse design that matches specified features,such as locations of suction peak,shock and aft *** and quantitative results show that both adopted generative models can generate diverse and realistic wall Mach number distributions satisfying the given *** CVAE-GAN model outperforms the CVAE model and achieves better reconstruction accuracies for all the samples in the ***,a deep neural network for nonlinear mapping is adopted to obtain the airfoil shape corresponding to the target wall Mach number *** performances of the designed deep neural network are fully demonstrated and a smoothness measurement is proposed to quantify small oscillations in the airfoil surface,proving the authenticity and accuracy of the generated airfoil shapes.

Adaptive Edge Finite Element Method and Numerical Design for Metasurface Cloak

Metasurfaces are a type of metamaterial that have two-dimensional structures. In comparison to traditional metamaterials, metasurfaces have several advantages such as being lightweight, easily controllable, and simple to design. This paper outlines the phase matching principle and constitutive parameter theory of electromagnetic (EM) metasurfaces, as well as the constitutive parameter analysis and model equations for metasurface cloaks. Due to the singularity of metasurface cloaks, an adaptive edge finite element method (AEFEM) is developed in this paper. Additionally, the convergence theory of time-harmonic Maxwell’s equations for metasurface cloak is established under the T-coercivity assumption. The numerical simulations of arc-shaped metasurface cloaks have confirmed the accuracy of our model and numerical theory. Furthermore, we have utilized our numerical method to design a triangular-shaped metasurface cloak with fewer singularities. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As one of the typical emerging contaminants,microplastics exist widely in the environment because of their small size and recalcitrance,which has caused various ecological *** paper summarizes current adsorption and removal technologies of microplastics in typical aquatic environments,including natural freshwater,marine,drinking water treatment plants(DWTPs),and wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs),and includes abiotic and biotic degradation technologies as one of the removal ***,numerous studies have shown that enrichment technologies have been widely used to remove microplastics in natural freshwater environments,DWTPs,and *** removal of microplastics via WWTPs is critical to reduce the release to the natural environment as a key connection point to prevent the transfer of microplastics from society to natural water *** technology has outstanding pre-degradation effects on microplastics,and the isolated microbial strains or enriched communities can degrade up to 50%or more of pre-processed ***,more research focusing on microplastic degradation could be carried out by combining physical and chemical pretreatment with subsequent microbial *** addition,the current recovery technologies of microplastics are introduced in this *** is incredibly challenging because of the small size and dispersibility of microplastics,and the related technologies still need further *** paper will provide theoretical support and advice for preventing and controlling the ecological risks mediated by microplastics in the aquatic environment and share recommendations for future research on the removal and recovery of microplastics in various aquatic environments,including natural aquatic environments,DWTPs,and WWTPs.

Named entity recognition (NER) in electronic medical records (EMRs) is critical for identifying medical entities, constructing medical knowledge graphs, and supporting clinical decision-making. However, the scarcity of EMR datasets and the challenges posed by the complexity of Chinese medical texts hinder progress in this area. To address these issues, we introduce CMR-NER, a nested named entity recognition model that enhances entity prediction by integrating multiple features and considering a global view of entity boundaries. Leveraging the robust generalization capabilities of the large language model, CMR-NER involves collaboration with medical experts to ensure accuracy and reduce annotation costs. Additionally, we present HF-NER, a high-quality dataset specifically curated for Chinese EMR entity recognition focusing on heart failure. This dataset, constructed through a methodology combining ChatGPT's capabilities and expert validation, is a significant contribution to the field. It facilitates a comprehensive evaluation of CMR-NER. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach achieves comparable or superior performance to existing methods, underscoring its effectiveness in this challenging domain. © 2024 IEEE.
