Clean air actions （CAAs） in China have been linked to considerable benefits in public ***,whether the beneficial effects of CAAs are equally distributed geographically is *** high-resolution maps of the distributions of major air pollutants (fine particulate matter[PM2.5]and ozone[O3]) and population,we aimed to track spatiotemporal changes in health impacts from,and geographic inequality embedded in,the reduced exposures to PM2.5and O3from 2013 to *** used a method established by the Global Burden of Diseases *** analyzing the changes in loss of life expectancy（LLE） attributable to PM2.5and O3,we calculated the gain of life expectancy （GLE） to quantify the health benefits of the air-quality ***,we assessed the geographic inequality embedded in the GLE using the Gini index （GI）.Based on risk assessments of PM2.5and O3,during the first stage of CAAs（2013 to 2017）,the mean GLE was 1.87 *** of the sum of the GLE was disproportionally distributed in about one quarter of the population exposed （GI 0.44）.During the second stage of CAAs（2017 to 2020）,the mean GLE increased to 3.94 months and geographic inequality decreased （GI 0.18）.According to our assessments,CAAs were enhanced,from the first to second stages,in terms of not only preventing premature mortality but also ameliorating health *** enhancements were related to increased sensitivity to the health effects of air pollution and synergic control of PM2.5and *** findings will contribute to optimizing future CAAs.

Segmenting brain white matter hyperintensities (WMH) from 3D Magnetic Resonance (MR) images is crucial for the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Unlike common 2D images, this task is more challenging and time-consuming. Classical deep learning methods for 3D image segmentation face two main challenges: 1) Pure 3D networks have more parameters and are prone to overfitting. 2) When using 2D networks to segment slices of 3D images, the lack of 3D structural information results in suboptimal segmentation after reconstruction. To address these difficulties, we propose the 2.5D ASF-UNet, which employs the 2.5D workflow and uses adjacent slices as the input for 2D segmentation network ASF-UNet. In ASF-UNet, separate down-sampling paths are used for the adjacent slices, and the Local Spatial Attention Module (LSAM) is designed to more effectively integrate 3D spatial information into the 2D network. Additionally, the Conv-Spectral-Block (CSB) is designed to extract and integrate local and global features. It allows the model to capture global spatial structures while preserving detailed information. Experimental results on MICCAI MSSEG 2016 and Local MS datasets show that 2.5D ASF-UNet achieve better segmentation performance than other deep learning methods. © 2024 IEEE.

For evolutionary multi-objective optimization algorithms (EMOAs), an external archive can be utilized for saving good solutions found throughout the evolutionary process. Recent studies showed that a solution set selected from an external archive is usually superior to the final population. That is, the incorporation of an external archive improves the performance of EMOAs. However, the computation time for maintaining an external archive is long, especially when the archive size is large. To solve this issue, a simple archiving strategy is to save all solutions generated in the last several generations. In this paper, we examine this archiving strategy for three representative EMOAs on artificial test problems (Minus-DTLZ and WFG) and real-world problems (RE). Our results show that archiving the last several generations clearly improves the performance of EMOAs without severely increasing the computation time. © 2024 IEEE.

AgBi_(3)S_(5) is a new n-type thermoelectric material that is environmentally friendly and composed of elements of earth-abundant,non-toxic and high performance-cost *** compound features an intrinsically low thermal conductivity derived from its complex monoclinic ***,the terrible electrical transport properties greatly limited the improvement of thermoelectric *** previous studies considered that carrier concentration is the main reason for low electrical conductivity and focused on improving carrier concentration by aliovalent ion *** this work,we found that the critical parameter that restricts the electric transport performance of AgBi_(3)S_(5)was the extremely low carrier mobility instead of the carrier *** to the Pisarenko relationships and density functional theory calculations,Nb doping can sharpen the conduction band of AgBi_(3)S_(5),which contributes to reducing the effective mass and improving the carrier *** a further increase of the Nb doping content,the conduction band convergence can enlarge the effective mass and preserve the carrier *** with the decrease in lattice thermal conductivity due to the intensive phone scattering,a maximum ZT value of~0.50 at 773 K was achieved in Ag_(0.97)Nb_(0.03)Bi_(3)S_(5),which was~109.6%higher than that of pure *** work will stimulate the new exploration of high-performance thermoelectric materials in ternary metal sulfides.

Mineral dust is an important type of ice nucleating particles in the troposphere;however,the effects of heterogeneous reactions on ice nucleation(IN)activities of mineral dust remain to be elucidated.A droplet-freezing apparatus(Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry Ice Nucleation Apparatus,GIGINA)was developed in thiswork to measure IN activities of atmospheric particles in the immersion freezingmode,and its performancewas validated by a series of experimental *** apparatus was then employed to measure IN activities of feldspar and Arizona Test Dust(ATD)particles before and after heterogeneous reaction with NO_(2)(10±0.5 ppmv)at 40%relative *** surface coverage of nitrate,θ(NO_(3)^(−)),increased to 3.1±0.2 for feldspar after reaction with NO_(2) for 6 hr,and meanwhile the active site density per unit surface area(ns)at-20℃ was reduced from 92±5 to<1.0 cm^(−2) by about two orders of magnitude;however,no changes in nitrate content or IN activities were observed for further increase in reaction time(up to 24 hr).Both nitrate content and IN activities changed continuously with reaction time(up to 24 hr)for ATD particles;after reaction with NO_(2) for 24 hr,θ(NO_(3)^(−))increased to 1.4±0.1 and ns at-20℃ was reduced from 20±4 to 9.7±1.9 cm^(−2) by a factor of∼*** work suggests that heterogeneous reaction with NO_(2),an abundant reactive nitrogen species in the troposphere,may significantly reduce IN activities of mineral dust in the immersion freezing mode.

The accurate automatic recognition of cell locations is of great significance for downstream tasks in pathology. Due to the various size and distribution of different cell types, previous cell detection methods applied fixed circles as labels to localize cell position by default, which makes less precise and more difficult to adapt various cell morphology. In this paper, we integrate adaptive areas of interests based on morphology to address the limitation in detecting cells with irregular shapes in pathological images. Moreover, a EGSI module is proposed to extract global distribution of cells in slices, which enables model to acquire more rich semantic information. We exhibit favorable F1 score of our method on four public datasets. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method could detect cells more accurately in those images with different cell morphologies and dense cell distribution. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a sparse emission source microscopy (ESM) technique based on active machine learning to localize high-frequency electromagnetic interference (EMI) sources. The proposed method, which combines the query-by-committee (QBC) algorithm and a newly proposed entropy feedback (EF) technique, can significantly improve the efficiency of high-frequency EMI source location by reducing the number of scanning points. The results of simulation and measurement examples show that the proposed method is much more time-efficient compared with the full sampling method. Also, the method demonstrates a noticeable advantage over the uniform sampling and random sampling approaches, and has higher accuracy of EMI source location with the same number of sparse scanning samples. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we present a second order, linear, fully decoupled, and unconditionally energy stable scheme for solving the Erickson-Leslie model. This approach integrates the pressure correction method with a scalar auxiliary variable technique. We rigorously demonstrate the unconditional energy stability of the proposed scheme. Furthermore, we present several numerical experiments to validate its convergence order, stability, and computational efficiency. © 2025, CC BY.

Image segmentation is a crucial task in the field of computer vision. Markov random fields (MRF) based image segmentation method can effectively capture intricate relationships among pixels. However, MRF typically requires an initial labeling field, and the number of classifications needs to be manually selected. To tackle these issues, we propose a novel medical image segmentation algorithm based on density peak clustering (DPC) and Markov random fields. Firstly, we improve DPC to make it applicable to grayscale images, named GIDPC. In the GIDPC method, local gray density and gray bias are defined to enable the automatic determination of the number of classifications. Then, GIDPC and MRF are combined to achieve image segmentation. Furthermore, a segmentation fusion method is employed to enhance the accuracy of image segmentation. We conduct comparison experiments on the whole brain atlas image library. Our proposed algorithm achieves high average values in uniformity measure, accuracy, precision and sensitivity, respectively. With the development of the economy and the increasing demand for environmental protection,the efficient and selective recovery of Gd(Ⅲ)from actual wastewater is of critical *** this work,lanthanum-based metal-organic framework(LaBDC)materials were prepared by a hydrothermal method,and then polyethyleneimine(PEI)and LaBDC were combined by an impregnation method to form a novel LaBDC@xPEI *** prepared materials were characterized using Fourier transfo rm infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX),B runauer-Emmett-Teller(BET),thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).Experiments show that LaBDC@50%PEI has the highest adsorption capacity(181.77 mg/g)among lanthanum-based MOFs with different PEI loadings at pH=5.5,which is about 5.1 times that of bare *** adsorption isotherm analysis shows that LaBDC@50%PEI follows the Langmuir *** addition,the adsorption kinetics of LaBDC@50%PEI follows a pseudo-second-order kinetic model,indicating that the adsorption process is chemical *** is worth noting that LaBDC@50%PEI maintains good adsorption performance and stability after three recycling tests,and exhibits excellent selectivity in cation interference ***,the LaBDC@50%PEI composites possess good stability and hold great promises in rapid recovery of Gd(Ⅲ)from practical aqueous environments.
