As a new version of particle swarm optimization (PSO), PID-controlled PSO introduces the concept of controller into the algorithm structure. However, with the introduction of PID controller, three additional parameters are incorporated into the algorithm. Thus, how to provide a proper selection of these parameters is an important problem to affect the algorithm efficiency. In this paper, the relationships among these parameters are conducted by the stability theory. Further, a self-adaptive parameter selection strategy is proposed. simulation results show the proposed strategy is effective.

This paper presents a fast method to construct the simplified terrain model with the multi-resolution. In this method, we adopt the normal quad-tree hierarchy to subdivide the original terrain surface into the multi- resolution levels. For the sake of implementing the compressive storage and the efficient index for the elevation data, a connotative hierarchy is proposed and its corresponding index strategies are deduced. On the basis of the connotative hierarchy, we focus on resolving the crack problem of the simplified model. We firstly create the space filling curve during the simplification process to accelerate the search for the potential cracks. Afterwards, the different approaches are utilized to process the cracks in terms of the dissimilar terrain features. For this reason, we put forward an evaluation function that can selfadaptively identify the terrain feature according to the normal vector angle of the adjacent nodes in the connotative hierarchy. Consequently, there are not redundant triangles in our seamless multi-resolution terrain model. The proposed approaches are experimented on the real data and the results show that our method is relatively efficient and robust. Besides, the seamless simplified model has less number of triangles than the other common algorithm.

For RoHS compliance, a method coupled inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and UV-visible spectrophotometry with microwave technology was developed to determine trace Cd, Hg, Pb, Cr 6+ , PBBs/PBDEs in electronic and electrical products (EEP). Elements were screened by Energy dispersion X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (EDXRF). In order to achieve good performance, other methods such as colorific test, inter-element correction (IEC) and standard addition techniques etc. were performed. By this study, it showed that analyses of Hg, Cd, Pb by ICP-OES and Cr 6+ by UV-visible spectrophotometry had a RSD <5%, and a RSD <1% for PBBs/PBDEs by GC-MS analyzer. UV-visible spectrophotometry offered a good alternative for Cr 6+ determination with alkali digestion, the inferences from Fe 3+ , Pb 2+ etc. were eliminated by K 2 HPO 4 buffer. The ramifications from monoBB/BDE to DecaBB/BDE were distinctly separated and successfully determined in the optimized condition. Furthermore, microwave system did an excellent job of consistently putting solid samples into solutions and had a moderate compatibility with spectrometric analyzer due to good recoveries. Though RSD of XRF screening was larger than 10%, it proved to be an easier, cheaper, faster technique. Because of the combination of multiple methodologies, the restricted substances can be determined with good precision and high reliability. It provides a prominent project for EE industries to comply with RoHS compliance.

To overcome the shortcomings of traditional search engines, advocates a prototype of semantic-based search engine, called CRAB. By combining technologies of semantic Web, information extraction (IE), natural language processing (NLP) and a novel theme-based method, this framework can extract factual knowledge from Chinese natural language documents automatically. Instead of list of document links, results of user's query request returned from CRAB are semantically coherent reports generated intelligently, which can satisfy users greatly.

The improvement of text categorization by statistical methods can be performed from two main directions, namely the feature selection and the evaluation of characteristic weights. In this paper, we propose an enhanced text categorization method based on a modified mutual information algorithm and evaluation algorithm of characteristic weights which improves both aspects. The proposed method is applied to the benchmark test set Reuters-21578 Top10 to examine its effectiveness. Numerical results show that the precision, the recall and the value of F1 of the proposed method are all superior to those of existing conventional methods.

Four primal discontinuous Galerkin methods are applied to solve reactive transport problems, namely, Oden-BabuSka-Baumann DG (OBB-DG), non-symmetric interior penalty Galerkin (NIPG), symmetric interior penalty Galerkin (SIPG), and incomplete interior penalty Galerkin (IIPG). A unified a posteriori residual-type error estimation is derived explicitly for these methods. From the computed solution and given data, explicit estimators can be computed efficiently and directly, which can be used as error indicators for adaptation. Unlike in the reference [10], we obtain the error estimators in L^2 (L^2) norm by using duality techniques instead of in L^2(H^1) norm.

In this paper, we provide a theoretical method(PUFEM), which belongs to the analysis of the partition of unity finite element family of meshfree methods. The usual error analysis only shows the order of error estimate to the same as the local approximations[12]. Using standard linear finite element base functions as partition of unity and polynomials as local approximation space, in l-d case, we derive optimal order error estimates for PUFEM interpolants. Our analysis show that the error estimate is of one order higher than the local approximations. The interpolation error estimates yield optimal error estimates for PUFEM solutions of elliptic boundary value problems.

We present and analyze a robust preconditioned conjugate gradient method for the higher order Lagrangian finite element systems of a class of elliptic problems. An auxiliary linear element stiffness matrix is chosen to be the preconditioner for higher order finite elements. Then an algebraic multigrid method of linear finite element is applied for solving the preconditioner. The optimal condition number which is independent of the mesh size is obtained. Numerical experiments confirm the efficiency of the algorithm.

With the development of activated sludge model, the simulation software for the design and operation of wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) was produced and has been widely used. The dynamic change of the quality and flow of influent are major factors causing the unstable operation of wastewater treatment process. As a basic model, ASMI model was used for the simulation of activated sludge process, and double exponential model was selected for the simulation of secondary sedimentation tank. The influences of influent change to the aeration tank and secondary sedimentation tank were investigated, and the relationship among influent change, the quality of effluent and the level of sludge blanket in secondary sedimentation tank was established. On the basis of the simulation results, the operation of the WWTP could be adjusted under the dynamic change of the influent. Furthermore, the controlling strategy combined the feed-forward on the influent flow and the feedback on the level of sludge blanket in the secondary sedimentation tank was studied.
