This paper presents a multiple-path routing protocol, called as degraded link-disjoint multipath (DLDM) routing protocol, which is based on ad-hoc on-demand distance vector(AODV) routing protocol for ad-hoc networks. The proposed protocol establishes disjoint-link paths if disjoint-link paths exist in the network and establishes multiple-path routing that have no more than one common link according to the network condition during the route discovery procedure. This saves network bandwidth and reduces route reconstruction time when a routing path fails. Our modeling effort shows while that proposed multipath routing is significantly better than AOMDV, the performance advantage is small beyond a few paths and for long path lengths. It also shows that the routing overhead and the route reconstruction time to find a new route is reduced. We perform simulation experiments which validate these findings.

Trace-driven cache simulation is the most widely used method to evaluate different cache structures. Several techniques have been proposed to reduce the simulation time of sequential trace-driven simulation. An obvious way to achieve fast parallel simulation is to simulate the individual independent sets of a cache concurrently on different compute resources. We propose improvements to current trace-driven simulation methods to make them faster and more economical. This paper considers the use of generic GPU to accelerate cache simulation which exploits set-partitioning as the main source of parallelism. We develop more efficient parallel simulation techniques by introducing more knowledge into the compute unified device architecture (CUDA) on the GPU. Our experimental result shows that the new algorithm can produce performance results for a number of set-associative caches in just a single simulation run and still produce the exact results.

Handoff scheme provides continuous and seamless transfer when the mobile node moves around the overlay area of wireless networks. It is not practical to use the traditional Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) based methods to decide when to process handoff in Collaborative virtual Environment (CVE), because the probe delay occupies most of the handoff delay time. In this paper, we propose a handoff scheme based on time interval indication (TII) in CVE over WLAN. Using the time interval between state protocol data units (PDUs) as a metric, can reduce the number of probes to decrease the probe delay in the processing of CVE. We take advantage of state forecast arithmetic to simulate object movement during processing of handoff. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed approach reduces probe delay time in the entire operation of CVE.

With the rapid advance of computer and network technology, more and more applications are deployed in the customer-side network. These applications require different quality of service (QoS), but have to share a few bandwidth limited Internet connections. Owing to the IP network's best-effort delivery mechanism, the QoS requirements are hard to be satisfied. There have been plenty of QoS solutions in research and industry areas, however, few of them are easy to understand or to deploy. Therefore, we provide a solution, based on a simple and clear model, has the ability of transparently deployed at the inner side of customer's gateway device and controlled in the application-oriented way. We also introduce a straightforward QoS policy definition language to allow user to create QoS rules for various applications. We conduct the evaluation of our prototype system running upon mid-end industrial personal computer under both the lab test-bed and the practical network. In the lab test, our system achieves 200Mbps throughput, in the practical field test, our system successfully manages a 100Mbps Internet link for over 3000 active users.

GIS data source stored in file is difficult to establish a fast indexing, inefficient to access the data between different files and to migrate from one source to another. In order to achieve GIS data stored in file synchronizing and sharing, using object cloning to realize data access and migration between different sources is discussed based on the GIS platform of AutoCAD Map. And the method of object cloning in three aspects, i.e. feasibility, code complexity, integrity, is compared with the traditional ones (the methods of redrawing and object copying) on object migration. Experimental result shows that the method of object cloning is better than the traditional ones. © 2009 IEEE.

Caches play a major role in the performance of high speed computer systems. Trace driven simulator is the most widely used method to evaluate cache architectures. However, as the cache design moves to more complicated architectures, along with the size of the trace is becoming larger and larger. Traditional simulation methods are no longer practical due to their long simulation cycles. Several techniques have been proposed to reduce the simulation time of sequential trace driven simulation. This paper considers the use of generic GPU to accelerate cache simulation which exploits set partitioning as the main source of parallelism. We develop more efficient parallel simulation techniques by introducing more knowledge into the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) on the GPU. Our experimental result shows that the new algorithm gains 2.76 times performance improvement compared to traditional CPU based sequential algorithm.

Motivated by recently raised image semantic labeling problem, this paper studies a fast Geodesic Propagation (GP) algorithm that integrates recognition proposal and image compatibility into a graphical representation. Given the recognition proposal map of the image, the initial seeds are selected as confident pixels standing on local proposal peaks by Mean-shift algorithm. The geodesic distance is then defined on a hybrid manifold, combining the color and boundary features with the recognition proposal map. Based on the geodesic distance, the semantic labeling is simultaneously propagated from the initial seeds of all classes to the rest of image pixels. This inference algorithm is capable of multi-labeling an image of 2-mega pixels in one second (with a common PC). In the experiment, we test on 21 generic semantic categories (sky, road, grass ...) on MSRC dataset, and 17 categories on LHI dataset to evaluate the performance.

The synchronized collaborative design within heterogeneous CAD systems becomes a significant challenge because of the great difference between the modeling operations and underground data structures of different systems. In order to enable it, this paper researches an approach to constructing the neutral modeling command set, an important part of synchronized collaborative design systems, to build the mapping of operations among different CAD systems. A prototype is developed based on the neutral modeling command set to verify the feasibility of the proposed approach.

In Distributed virtual Environment, it is an important issue that how to manage the distribution of 3D geometry. Instead of downloading the whole virtual world objects into the clients' machines, on-demand method is to copy only objects that the user needs-partial replication of a virtual world rather than full replication. Therefore, a key aspect is how to efficiently replicate the required data in real-time. To solve this problem, a QoS transmission control method and a QoS Management Model, which are based on the degree of object attributes attention, are given in this paper. This method extends the traditional geometry-based model transmission control method. Non-geometric attributes and geometric attributes are integrated together and regarded as QoS parameters. Because real-time property is the most important requirements in distributed virtual environment and it can be affected by network bandwidth during the run time, a dynamic negotiation algorithm, which combines the idea of dynamic QoS management, is given in this paper. Experimental results show that the method is able to reflect user's level of concern a-bout virtual objects in virtual environment comprehensively, and it can gain better transmission results while ensuring the prerequisite of real-time with the changing of the network bandwidth.
