Accurately assessing air traffic complexity is crucial for ensuring flight safety and efficiency. In this paper, we propose an air traffic complexity assessment method based on multi-scale spatio-temporal images. We first convert numerical air traffic data collected by surveillance radar into image data, and then interpolate the spatial and temporal scales of the images to generate multiple sets of images with different spatial and temporal scales. We found the best image set based on the Circle metric learning model by evaluating the performance of 20 image sets combined from different spatiotemporal scales. On this image set, we applied multiple deep metric learning methods to assess air traffic complexity. The results show that the new dataset performs better on several assessment metrics, confirming the validity of the approach to improve air traffic complexity assessment by adjusting the data scale. This demonstrates that the accuracy of air traffic complexity assessment can be effectively improved by adjusting the data scale. It also demonstrates the importance of choosing the right scale of dataset to improve the performance of machine learning algorithms. © 2025 SPIE.

Domain adaptation techniques help models generalize to target domains by addressing domain discrepancies between the source and target domain data distributions. These techniques are particularly valuable for cross-domain hashing retrieval, as they reduce training costs while maintaining high retrieval efficiency. However, existing unsupervised domain adaptative hashing methods often require access to both source and target domain data, which may raise privacy concerns regarding source domain data. To address these concerns, restricting access to source domain data is crucial, but this restriction also makes the alignment process between domains more challenging. In this paper, we propose a Source-free Domain Adaptive Hashing with Multiple Alignment (SFDAH-MA) approach for image retrieval. SFDAH-MA integrates model structure alignment, class moment alignment, and semantic relationship alignment to maximize inter-domain knowledge transfer. This comprehensive alignment strategy not only enhances retrieval performance across domains but also minimizes reliance on source domain data, thereby supporting data privacy protection. Extensive experiments show that SFDAH-MA achieves state-of-the-art performance in source-free settings and achieves comparable results to existing unsupervised domain adaptive hashing methods under conventional settings. The air traffic demand surpasses the capacity of most of the busiest airports worldwide. The mismatch between airport capacity and air traffic demand leads to serious congestion and delay problems. Since airport capacity is difficult to expand in a short time, in order to reduce flight delays, we need to adjust and optimize flight slots for flight applications, and allocate flight time resources scientifically and efficiently under the premise of meeting airspace resource constraints such as airport capacity. In this paper, we proposed an airport flight slots allocation method based on the Q-Learning algorithm in reinforcement learning. Firstly, we preprocess the original data set. Data cleaning processes data with missing attribute values and removes irrelevant attributes. Through data transformation, the data of string attribute is transformed into discrete numbers, and the time attribute is processed. After that, we construct a mathematical model of single-airport flight time allocation, which is a combinatorial optimization problem and determines the optimization objectives and constraints. Then we apply the reinforcement learning algorithm Q-Learning to solve this optimization problem, and the algorithm updates the strategy through interaction with the environment to get a better solution. Finally, we take Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport as a study case to train and verify the proposed single-airport flight time allocation model. The experimental results show that, the optimized flight slots satisfy the airport capacity constraints while minimizing the adjustment of flight schedules as much as possible, and adjust the flights at some times to alleviate the congestion. © 2025 SPIE ·

Curvilinear Structure segmentation has numerous applications in various fields, including providing a better understanding of defects such as cracks on roads or walls, thereby assessing the structural safety of buildings. Numerous curve segmentation methods based on Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN) have been developed in recent years. However, preserving feature integrity remains a challenge. To address this issue, this paper introduces a double dynamic network, called DD-Net, which consists of a dynamic structure for training and dynamic masking for inference. Firstly, to enhance the nonlinearity of the model, a paradigm to auto-adjust the CNN structure via a trainable module is formed for better fine-grained feature extraction. This dynamic structure (DS) paradigm enables a trade-off to extract or discard the feature data in the model training. Due to the data heterogeneity between the training and inference data, models may contain some useless nodes that are less effective during inference. The dynamic masking (DM) is proposed to omit the useless nodes based on the score difference between the train and inference feature statistics, thereby reducing redundant computations. To further improve the model’s performance on thin-curve segmentation and to preserve feature integrity, we introduce a non-curve suppression (NCS) module. This module focuses on background information while considering foreground prediction to address noisy conditions. The experimental results show that our DD-Net achieves promising results on three benchmark datasets and outperforms state-of-the-art curve segmentation models. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Compare to traditional Scene Completion (SC), Semantic Scene Completion (SSC) is a challenging task that aims to generate complete and semantically consistent 3D scene from partial and sparse input data, which is fundamental to fully understanding the scene and being able to interact with it. Consequently, the SSC task has received much attention in recent years. Most of the methods are voxel-based approaches, but they have high computational and memory requirements. A few works based on point cloud do not sufficiently exploit the correlation between semantic segmentation and geometric completion subtasks, while focusing too much on point cloud shape features and ignoring the rich texture information that RGB images can provide. In this paper, we present SSCCPC-Net (Semantic Scene Completion with CLIP on Point Cloud-Net), a novel network architecture for point cloud semantic scene completion using a combination of 2D and 3D features. Inspired by recent works of large pretrained vision-language models in semantic segmentation, we explore to accomplish SSC task with the help of Contrastive Language-Image Pre-Training (CLIP) model. Specifically, we use the CLIP features for guidance to fuse the 2D features extracted from the RGB image and the 3D features extracted from the point cloud. The fused features are then fed into our designed Semantic-Completion Decoder for per-point semantic prediction and semantic labeling-assisted point cloud completion. Finally, we obtain the complete semantically point cloud. Numerous experiments have demonstrated that our method has higher effectiveness and generalizability compared to state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

To accurately extract Brillouin frequency shift of BOTDA with large sweeping step sizes, a novel structure of GAFCNN is proposed, combining time series coding with convolutional neural networks. The experimental data validation results demonstrate that the GAFCNN is capable of obtaining more accurate results under large sweep steps and low signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) than other current methods. © 2025 SPIE.

Medical video segmentation plays a crucial role in clinical diagnosis and therapeutic procedures by enabling dynamic tracking of breast lesions across frames in ultrasound videos, thereby improving segmentation accuracy. However, the existing methods struggle to strike a balance between segmentation accuracy and inference speed, which impedes their real-time deployment in resource-limited medical environments. To overcome these challenges, we introduce a rapid breast lesion segmentation framework named RbS. RbS employs the Stem module and RbSBlock to enhance representations through intra-frame analysis of ultrasound videos. Moreover, we have developed two versions of RbS: RbS-S boasts enhanced segmentation accuracy, while RbS-L ensures faster inference speeds. Experimental evidence indicates that RbS surpasses current leading models in both segmentation efficiency and prediction accuracy, particularly on resource-limited devices. Our contribution significantly propels the progress of developing efficient medical video segmentation frameworks suitable for various medical platforms. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This work presents an adaptive tracking guidance method for robotic fishes. The scheme enables robots to suppress external interference and eliminate motion jitter. An adaptive integral surge line-of-sight guidance rule is designed to eliminate dynamics interference and sideslip issues. Limited-time yaw and surge speed observers are reported to fit disturbance variables in the model. The approximation values can compensate for the system's control input and improve the robots' tracking ***, this work develops a terminal sliding mode controller and third-order differential processor to determine the rotational torque and reduce the robots' run jitter. Then, Lyapunov's theory proves the uniform ultimate boundedness of the proposed method. Simulation and physical experiments confirm that the technology improves the tracking error convergence speed and stability of robotic fishes.

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) have gained significant attention as a key enabler for intelligent transportation systems, facilitating vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications. Despite their potential, VANETs face critical challenges in maintaining reliable end-to-end connectivity due to their highly dynamic topology and sparse node distribution, particularly in areas with limited infrastructure coverage. Addressing these limitations is crucial for advancing the reliability and scalability of VANETs. To bridge these gaps, this work introduces a heterogeneous UAV-aided VANET framework that leverages uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as autonomous aerial vehicles, to enhance data transmission. The key contributions of this paper include: 1) the design of a novel adaptive dual-model routing (ADMR) protocol that operates in two modes: direct vehicle clustering for intra-cluster communication and UAV/RSU-assisted routing for inter-cluster communication;2) the development of a modified density-based clustering algorithm (MDBSCAN) for dynamic vehicle node clustering;and 3) an improved UAV trajectory planning method based on a multi-agent soft actor-critic (MASAC) deep reinforcement learning algorithm, which optimizes network reachability. Simulation results reveal that the UAV trajectory optimization method achieves higher network reachability ratios compared to existing approaches. Also, the proposed ADMR protocol improves the packet delivery ratio (PDR) while maintaining low end-to-end latency. These findings demonstrate the potential to enhance VANET performance, while also providing valuable insights for the development of intelligent transportation systems and related fields. © 2025 The Authors.

Learning to see speckle in the weak laser field through multimode fiber

Multimode fibers (MMFs) have great potential for endoscopic imaging due to the high number of modes and a small core diameter. Deep learning based on neural networks has received increasing attention in the field of scattering image reconstruction. However， most studies focus on designing complex network architectures to improve reconstruction， but these network models struggle to reconstruct images in a weak laser field. In the paper， a lightweight generative adversarial network model combined with a histogram specification algorithm is designed to reconstruct speckles in the weak laser field through MMF. Experimental results show that the reconstruction results of our algorithm have better metrics. Moreover， the model demonstrates excellent cross-domain generalization ability with regards to the Fashion-MNIST dataset. It is worth mentioning that we found that the speckles after inactivation still retain the ability to be reconstructed， which enhances the robustness of the model
