DasAtom: A Divide-and-Shuttle Atom Approach to Quantum Circuit Transformation

Neutral atom (NA) quantum systems are emerging as a leading platform for quantum computation, offering superior or competitive qubit count and gate fidelity compared to superconducting circuits and ion traps. However, the unique features of NA devices, such as long-range interactions, long qubit coherence time, and the ability to physically move qubits, present distinct challenges for quantum circuit compilation. In this paper, we introduce DasAtom, a novel divide-and-shuttle atom approach designed to optimise quantum circuit transformation for NA devices by leveraging these capabilities. DasAtom partitions circuits into subcircuits, each associated with a qubit mapping that allows all gates within the subcircuit to be directly executed. The algorithm then shuttles atoms to transition seamlessly from one mapping to the next, enhancing both execution efficiency and overall fidelity. For a 30-qubit Quantum Fourier Transform (QFT), DasAtom achieves a 415.8x improvement in fidelity over the move-based algorithm Enola and a 10.6x improvement over the SWAP-based algorithm Tetris. Notably, this improvement is expected to increase exponentially with the number of qubits, positioning DasAtom as a highly promising solution for scaling quantum computation on NA platforms. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

CMD: A Cache-Assisted GPU Memory Deduplication Architecture

Massive off-chip accesses in GPUs are the main performance bottleneck. We find that many writes are duplicate, and the duplication can be inter-dup and intra-dup. While inter-dup means different memory blocks are identical, and intra-dup means all the 4B elements in a line are the same. In this work, we propose a cache-assisted GPU memory deduplication architecture named CMD to reduce the off-chip accesses via utilizing the data duplication in GPU applications. CMD includes three key design contributions which aim to reduce the three kinds of accesses: (1) A novel GPU memory deduplication architecture that removes the intra-dup and inter-dup lines. We design several techniques to manage duplicate blocks, reducing massive off-chip writes. (2) We propose a cache-assisted read scheme to reduce the reads to duplicate data. When an L2 cache miss wants to read the duplicate block, if the reference block has been fetched to L2 and it is clean, we can copy it to the L2 missed block without accessing off-chip DRAM. As for the reads to intra-dup data, CMD uses the on-chip metadata cache to get the data. (3) When a cache line is evicted, the clean sectors in the line are invalidated while the dirty sectors are written back. However, most read-only victims are re-referenced from DRAM more than twice. Therefore, we add a full-associate FIFO to accommodate the read-only (it is also clean) victims to reduce the re-reference counts. Experiments show that CMD can decrease the off-chip accesses by 31.01%, reduce the energy by 32.78% and improve performance by 42.53%. Besides, CMD can improve the performance of memory-intensive workloads by 57.56%. © 2025 IEEE.

SCSegamba: Lightweight Structure-Aware Vision Mamba for Crack Segmentation in Structures

Pixel-level segmentation of structural cracks across various scenarios remains a considerable challenge. Current methods encounter challenges in effectively modeling crack morphology and texture, facing challenges in balancing segmentation quality with low computational resource usage. To overcome these limitations, we propose a lightweight Structure-Aware Vision Mamba Network (SCSegamba), capable of generating high-quality pixel-level segmentation maps by leveraging both the morphological information and texture cues of crack pixels with minimal computational cost. Specifically, we developed a Structure-Aware Visual State Space module (SAVSS), which incorporates a lightweight Gated Bottleneck Convolution (GBC) and a Structure-Aware Scanning Strategy (SASS). The key insight of GBC lies in its effectiveness in modeling the morphological information of cracks, while the SASS enhances the perception of crack topology and texture by strengthening the continuity of semantic information between crack pixels. Experiments on crack benchmark datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms other state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods, achieving the highest performance with only 2.8M parameters. Many sophisticated cloud platforms are available to provide services such as storage and computation for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. However, with the concerns about the semi-trusted nature of cloud platforms, data security and privacy have been gaining broad attention. In this paper, we propose a blockchain-assisted verifiable data sharing scheme (BAV-DSS) for IoT. The BAV-DSS features fine-grained access control, fast encryption, and outsourced decryption with verifiability. Specifically, with the application of ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE), flexible access control is enabled. Blockchain is employed to store public keys, generate account addresses, and perform data verification. Furthermore, the selective replayable chosen ciphertext attacks (sRCCA) security of BAV-DSS is proved, and the simulation results indicate that BAV-DSS obtains high efficiency and practicality compared to other schemes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Multimodal Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (MABSA) aims to extract aspect terms from text-image pairs and identify their sentiments. Previous methods are based on the premise that the image contains the objects referred by the aspects within the text. However, this condition cannot always be met, resulting in a suboptimal performance. In this paper, we propose COnditional Relation based Sentiment Analysis framework (CORSA). Specifically, we design a conditional relation detector (CRD) to mitigate the impact of the unmet conditional image. Moreover, we design a visual object localizer (VOL) to locate the exact condition-related visual regions associated with the aspects. With CRD and VOL, our CORSA framework takes a multi-task form. In addition, to effectively learn CORSA we conduct two types of annotations. One is the conditional relation using a pretrained referring expression comprehension model;the other is the bounding boxes of visual objects by a pretrained object detection model. Experiments on our built C-MABSA dataset show that CORSA consistently outperforms existing methods. Micro-ring modulators with a small footprint and energy consumption have been explored for densely integrated high throughput optical interconnects. However, their strong dispersive response results in frequency chirp and pulse broadening, which limits their signal transmission distance. Here we explore the low chirp operation of a dual-racetrack modulator symmetrically coupled to a bus waveguide. With opposite index changes in the two resonators, the coherent couplings of two resonators' optical fields with the bus waveguide and their interference can cancel out the output phase variation due to a single resonator. This allows the push-pull operation to achieve a lower chirp compared to the single-drive operation. The advantage of lower chirp operation is experimentally verified through open eye diagram with 100 Gbps PAM-4 transmitted over 2 km single-mode fiber (SMF), with a peak-to-peak driving voltage of 1.6 V. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

Video-based person re-identification (ReID) has become increasingly important due to its applications in video surveillance applications. By employing events in video-based person ReID, more motion information can be provided between continuous frames to improve recognition accuracy. Previous approaches have assisted by introducing event data into the video person ReID task, but they still cannot avoid the privacy leakage problem caused by RGB images. In order to avoid privacy attacks and to take advantage of the benefits of event data, we consider using only event data. To make full use of the information in the event stream, we propose a Cross-Modality and Temporal Collaboration (CMTC) network for event-based video person ReID. First, we design an event transform network to obtain corresponding auxiliary information from the input of raw events. Additionally, we propose a differential modality collaboration module to balance the roles of events and auxiliaries to achieve complementary effects. Furthermore, we introduce a temporal collaboration module to exploit motion information and appearance cues. Experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms others in the task of event-based video person ReID.

Orbital angular momentum(OAM) modes provide an additional orthogonal physical dimension, offering transformative potential for enhancing optical communication capacity. Despite significant progress in mode multiplexing, the development of robust communication networks faces persistent challenges, particularly in effectively routing and controlling these multiplexed channels among network nodes. To tackle these dilemmas, we propose a rotatable diffractive neural network(R-DNN) strategy and demonstrate its capability for port-controllable OAM mode routing. By leveraging the correlation between the orthogonal evolution of OAM modes in free space and phase modulations during propagation, the R-DNN precisely shapes the spatial evolution of mode fields through multiple rotatable phase layers, enabling efficient routing to specific output ports. This approach exploits the interaction of secondary wavelets with the relative states of the rotatable layers, allowing on-demand control of mode evolution paths and enhancing routing flexibility. As a proof of concept, we developed a tri-functional router that successfully directs three OAM modes to individually controllable output ports. This router achieves an average intermode crosstalk of less than-16.4 dB across three functional states, one-dimensional, two-dimensional, and cross-connected switching, while supporting the routing of 5.85 Tbit/s quadrature phase-shift keying signals. These results highlight the R-DNN's effectiveness in achieving precise and controllable OAM mode manipulation, paving the way for advanced applications in mode-multiplexed communication networks and beyond.

With the rapid development of the aviation industry, flight delays have become a global issue, resulting in significant economic losses and passenger dissatisfaction. Accurately determining the causes of flight delays is crucial for airlines, air traffic management, and passengers. This study proposes an Adversarial Defense of the Transductive Support Vector Machine (ad-TSVM) algorithm to address the problem of flight delay causing determination. The ad-TSVM algorithm generates adversarial samples through adversarial training techniques and incorporates these samples into the Transductive Support Vector Machine (TSVM) to improve the model's classification accuracy and robustness. Compared to traditional methods, ad-TSVM can more precisely attribute the responsibility for flight delays to various stakeholders, such as airlines, air traffic control, weather, and air traffic flow, while resisting adversarial attacks. Experimental results demonstrate that the ad-TSVM algorithm significantly outperforms traditional TSVM and other standard machine-learning algorithms regarding classification accuracy on multiple real-world datasets. Additionally, the algorithm exhibits excellent performance in resisting adversarial attacks, effectively enhancing the model's robustness and reliability. This study addresses flight delay cause determination challenges, offering theoretical support for further research and practical applications in related fields. © 2025 SPIE ·
