Edge collapse mesh simplification algorithm based on detail features preserving

The existing model simplification algorithm in simplified speed and quality can't reach a better compromise, so we present an improved quadric error metrics edge collapse mesh simplification algorithm. This algorithm makes the local region unevenness of vertex, the local region average area of vertex and edge length as constraint factors add to the edge collapse cost, by changing the order of the edge collapse to retain the important detail features of the original model. New vertex position is calculated on the different types of edge, keeping the boundary characteristics of the mesh model. Experimental results show that the improved algorithm not only runs faster, but also maintains a higher degree on the model feature region. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

Redundant filter-based efficient Minkwoski sum computation of polyhedra

On the basis of the introduction to basic theory of Minkowski sum, we analyze the procedure of constructing the boundary of Minkowski sum and present a new method that can compute Minkowski sum of the polyhedra based on redundant information filtering. The method can filter the edges and facets that can be processed in the next computational stage, and reduce the number of the edges and facets that must be computed to improve the computing performance. The experiments show that the presented method has better performance including computing efficiency, accuracy and degeneration problems and fits for application domains that require high efficient and accurate computation. © 2014 ICIC International.

Research on load balancing strategy based on middleware

According to the former research achievements about load balancing strategy, considering the load distribution, the load condition of service node and the number of user connections, we propose a load balancing strategy based on middleware. According to the cluster service load and the number of user connections, the requests from user will be reasonably allocated to each service node by using middleware technology, then service node and requested user establish a temporary connection, after all the requests of this user are processed by this node. Experiments show that, this strategy reduces the number of requests for allocation, improves the resource utilization rate of cluster system and load balancing degree, and effectively suppresses the load jitter of system. © 2014 ISSN 1881-803X.

Model for Software Behaviour Detection Based on Process Algebra and system Call

Behaviour detection models based on automata have been studied widely. By add- ing edge ε, the local automata are combined into global automata to describe and detect soft- ware behaviour. However, these methods in- troduce nondeterminacy, leading to models that are imprecise or inefficient. We present a model of software Behaviour Detection based on Process Algebra and system call （BDPA）. In this model, a system call is mapped into an action, and a function is mapped into a process We construct a process expression for each function to describe its behaviour. Without con- strutting automata or introducing nondeter- minacy, we use algebraic properties and algo- rithms to obtain a global process expression by combining the process expressions derived from each function. Behaviour detection rules and methods based on BDPA are determined by equivalence theory. Experiments demon- strate that the BDPA model has better preci- sion and efficiency than traditional methods.

Effects of nicotine stimulation on spikes, theta frequency oscillations, and spike-theta oscillation relationship in rat medial septum diagonal band Broca slices

Aim: Spiking activities and neuronal network oscillations in the theta frequency range have been found in many cortical areas during information processing. The aim of this study is to determine whether nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) mediate neuronal network activity in rat medial septum diagonal band Broca (MSDB) slices. Methods: Extracellular field potentials were recorded in the slices using an Axoprobe 1A amplifier. Data analysis was performed off- line. Spike sorting and local field potential (LFP) analyses were performed using Spike2 software. The role of spiking activity in the generation of LFP oscillations in the slices was determined by analyzing the phase-time relationship between the spikes and LFP oscil- lations. Circular statistic analysis based on the Rayleigh test was used to determine the significance of phase relationships between the spikes and LFP oscillations. The timing relationship was examined by quantifying the spike-field coherence (SFC), Results: Application of nicotine (250 nmol/L) induced prominent LFP oscillations in the theta frequency band and both small- and large-amplitude population spiking activity in the slices. These spikes were phase-locked to theta oscillations at specific phases. The Rayleigh test showed a statistically significant relationship in phase-locking between the spikes and theta oscillations. Larger changes in the SFC were observed for large-amplitude spikes, indicating an accurate timing relationship between this type of spike and LFP oscillations, The nicotine-induced spiking activity (large-amplitude population spikes) was suppressed by the nAChR antagonist dihydro-~-erythroidine (0.3 pmol/L). Conclusion: The results demonstrate that large-amplitude spikes are phase-locked to theta oscillations and have a high spike-timing accuracy, which are likely a main contributor to the theta oscillations generated in MSDB during nicotine receptor activation.

As a safe and economical method the pipeline is widely used to transport the oil and gas. At present, most of serious pipeline accidents are the artificial damages. The traditional leakage detection methods only infer the leakages by analyzing the parameters. The sensitivities are low and the leakage warning exclusively arrives after the leakage. The urgent problem is to detect the intrusions and locate the threat position. For this reason, we studied and developed a novel pipeline security monitoring and pre-warning system based on multi-seismic sensors. The system consists of many seismic geophones and data acquisition modules which are laid along the pipeline. The events such as footstep, car moving and the digging generate the seismic waves. These sensors and modules acquire the seismic signals. The empirical mode decomposition is used to acquire the IMFs (intrinsic mode functions). Then the IMF kurtosis features are normalized and used to recognize the different targets. In order to improve the individual target recognition accuracy, it proposes to fuse the identification results by using the Dempster-Shafer evidence theory and obtain the final judgment. If the target belongs to threat, the location will be finished. The time-frequency analysis method is used to process the seismic signals. The EMD outcomes are transformed by Hilbert-Huang Transform and then it can acquire the signal's instantaneous properties such as instantaneous frequency, phase and amplitude. In this paper we also discuss the localization procedures and put forward to a new passive localization method based on HHT and TDOA. The filed trails show the proposed methods work well. © 2013 American Society of Civil Engineers.

The synthesis of dynamic junction over-constrained parallel-parallel mechanism based on the weighted directed graph theory

Several dynamic junction over-constrained parallel-parallel mechanisms are proposed in this paper with a new method based on graph theory synthesis. This kind of mechanism is the pivotal part of the equivalent mechanism in helicopter automatic tilting device. The purpose of synthesis is that the synthesis result is helpful to optimize the structure and optimal design for helicopter automatic tilting device, and the reason why a graph method is chosen is that it can be programmed easily. The characteristic of "Dynamic Junction" is proposed relative to fixed junction. Because the joint of connecting two parallel mechanisms is dynamic, these two mechanisms can motion relatively. A mount of permutation and combination calculating processes are needed because of dynamic characteristic. In this view, choosing a synthesis method which can program easily in computer is appropriate. The graph method is the best choice. However, classic graph method is difficult to discriminate the graph isomorphism and limited to apply in spatial mechanism. Therefore, this paper proposed a new graph way. First, mechanism is modeled in weighted directed graph, then based on equal freedom of degree, many other graph models are got which have the same motion characteristic. Finally many target mechanisms can be derived by those models. The new method avoids the problem of classic graph method and is easy to program and run in computer, it is proved effectively because several dynamic junction over-constrained parallel-parallel mechanisms are successfully synthesized by it. © 2013 ISSN 1881-803X.

A metadata extraction approach from papers based on meta-learning

To improve the accuracy of paper metadata extraction, a paper metadata extraction approach based on meta-learning is presented. Firstly, we propose a construction method of base-classifiers, which combines the Support Vector Machine (SVM) with the created diverse base-level training sets to construct some base-classifiers with larger diversity. The training sets are created according to the Open Access (OA) journal categories. Secondly, we present a paper metadata extraction algorithm based on meta-learning, which uses the meta-classifier to integrate the classification results of the base-classifiers and generates the final extraction results. The proposed approach guarantees extraction accuracy and independence of the base-classifiers, increases the diversities of them, and improves the classification performance of the meta-classifier, as well as reduces the degree of correlation of misclassifications. The experimental results show that our approach is superior to other single machine learning algorithm and the accuracy of paper metadata extraction is improved. © 2013 by Binary Information Press.

A novel algorithm for outlier mining in the internet of things

Most of the traditional outlier mining algorithms are not suitable for high dimensional datasets. However, the dimensionality of the dataset in the field of the Internet of Things is high. Therefore, Hypergraph-based Outlier Mining (HOM) algorithm is proposed to solve the problem. Two different hypergraph models are constructed in the HOM algorithm. One is itemset hypergraph. One-itemset in transaction database is itemset hypergraph's vertices, and the transactions are itemset hypergraph's hyperedges. The other one is transaction hypergraph. The transactions are its vertices, and frequent itemsets are the hyperedges. The outliers are found by hypergraph partitioning. Experiments show that HOM algorithm can effectively find the outliers in high dimensional space. ©2013 ICIC International.

Performance analysis of the centralized channel allocation strategy in cognitive radio networks

Based on the centralized channel allocation strategy in the Cognitive Radio Networks, considering the opportunistic channel access for Secondary Users, a discretetime queueing model with a general transmission time and possible transmission interruption is established. By using the method of an embedded Markov chain, the system model is analyzed in steady state, and the performance metrics in terms of the average latency, the throughput for the Secondary User, the channel switching ratio and the channel utilization are given accordingly. Analysis results and simulation experiments are provided to investigate the influence of the traffic load for the Secondary User and the arrival rate for the Primary User packets on the system performance. © 2013 ICIC International.
