Terahertz (THz) technology has become a new trend in various fields due to its high penetration and harmlessness towards human body and objects. The object detection of concealed and hidden objects based on THz images is of great significance for ensuring public safety. However, the poor quality of original THz images leads to insufficient accuracy in target detection. Therefore, it is necessary to preprocess the images before performing object detection. In this work, in order to investigate the impact of different pre-processing methods on object detection using images, we adopt two methods, namely non-local mean (NLM) filtering and histogram equalization (HE). After pre-processing, YOLOv7 algorithm is used to perform object detection based on the preprocessed THz images. The experimental results show that YOLOv7 achieves highest recognition accuracy on NLM filtered THz images. The experimental results presented in this work provide a reference to select image processing method for performing concealed object detection based on THz images. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Real-time tracking of fast-moving object in occlusion scene

Tracking the fast-moving object in occlusion situations is an important research topic in computer vision. Despite numerous notable contributions have been made in this field,few of them simultaneously incorporate both object's extrinsic features and intrinsic motion patterns into their methodologies,thereby restricting the potential for tracking accuracy improvement. In this paper, on the basis of efficient convolution operators(ECO) model, a speed-accuracy-balanced model is put forward. This model uses the simple correlation filter to track the object in real-time, and adopts the sophisticated deep-learning neural network to extract high-level features to train a more complex filter correcting the tracking mistakes, when the tracking state is judged to be poor. Furthermore, in the context of scenarios involving regular fast-moving, a motion model based on Kalman filter is designed which greatly promotes the tracking stability, because this motion model could predict the object's future location from its previous movement pattern. Additionally,instead of periodically updating our tracking model and training samples, a constrained condition for updating is proposed,which effectively mitigates contamination to the tracker from the background and undesirable samples avoiding model degradation when occlusion happens. From comprehensive experiments, our tracking model obtains better performance than ECO on object tracking benchmark 2015(OTB100), and improves the area under curve(AUC) by about 8% and 32% compared with ECO, in the scenarios of fast-moving and occlusion on our own collected dataset.

The levels of inter-user interference (IUI) usually vary due to the different geographical locations of users, but, most existing beam selection methods apply the same beam selection criteria for all users, which is detrimental to maintain an attractive trade-off between complexity and system performance. Considering the discrepancy of IUI comprehensively, a low complexity beam selection method for millimeter-wave massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems is proposed. Firstly, a candidate beam set (CBS) is constructed in light of the sparsity and power distribution of the beamspace channel, thereby all users are classified into non-interfering users (NIUs), low-interference users (LIUs) and high-interference users (HIUs). For NIUs, the beams with large power are selected from CBS under the magnitude maximization (MM) criterion;for LIUs, a novel MM criterion with a tabu list is designed, which can effectively tackle the drawback of assigning shared beams in traditional MM;for HIUs, the incremental algorithm based on the sum-rate maximization criterion is developed to find the optimal beams from CBS. Simulation results validate that the proposed method can achieve almost the same sum-rate performance as the existing methods with the lower computational complexity. © 2023 IEEE.

Kalman filter (KF) is increasingly attracted for sensorless control of surface permanent magnet synchronous motors due to its strong robustness against measurement and system noise. However, the conventional method suffers from poor position and speed estimation accuracy under dynamic conditions and high computational cost. In order to solve these problems, an enhanced sensorless control strategy based on reduced-order linear Kalman filter (RLKF) cooperating with prediction error rolling compensation is introduced in this article. Differing from conventional methods, a reduced-order linear state equation encompassing rotor position, speed, and torque disturbance is constructed. Then, by obtaining the prediction error of system output using the motor current equation in the predictive reference frame, the optimal estimation of rotor position and speed in the KF algorithm is achieved based on the reduced-order model. This not only simplifies the calculation process but also enhances the position and speed estimation accuracy under dynamic conditions. Meanwhile, a prediction error rolling compensation algorithm is developed to minimize the estimation deviations caused by motor parameter variations. In addition, the system's dynamic performance is further improved with an adopted speed controller based on torque disturbance feedforward and acceleration feedback. Finally, experimental results verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed strategy. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Radio Frequency (RF) perception of humidity is the current research hotspot of grain condition monitoring for "three temperature and three humidity". In order to analyze the optimal detection parameters on humidity of storage environment, the Wireless Insite test platform is built to analyze the effects of antenna height, carrier frequency and grain and with different moisture content on Channel State information (CSI) such as received power, path loss and time delay. The mathematical relations between the humidity and path loss, the humidity and time delay are deduced respectively. In simulation experiments, the frequency bands of 2.4GHz, 5GHz, 28GHz, 45GHz, 60GHz are selected. Study the changes of path loss and delay spread with humidity in the storage environment at different frequencies and antenna height. When the height of the transceiver antenna is set to 1m, the 28GHz, 45GHz and 60GHz millimeter wave signals are more sensitive to humidity changes, thereby which can provide more higher perception resolution of detecting humidity in the storage environment, compared with the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands. Besides, when space humidity is constant and the moisture content of wheat is changed, the arrival time of each ray in the channel at 45GHz is longer than that at 60GHz. The above work can provide reference for the application of RF sensing technology in the humidity detection scenario. © 2023 SPIE.
