In this paper, we propose a bio-inspired Fuzzy Lévy Taxis algorithm to solve the robotic odor source localization problem in dynamic odor plumes. According to the proposed algorithm, the robot is programmed to move for a length with a turning angle at each step until reaching the odor source. The movement length and the turning angle follow two specific probability distribution, of which the parameters are adaptive through a fuzzy logic system. The proposed algorithm was compared with the Adaptive Lévy Taxis algorithm in simulated pseudo-Gaussian plumes. Our proposed algorithm shows a higher success rate and efficiency. The algorithm has also been systematically evaluated in simulated filament-based odor plumes under various environmental conditions. The results revealed that the performance of the proposed algorithm is consistently good in various environmental conditions in terms of success rate, number of steps and distance overhead to find the odor source.

In this paper, a new control system based on the improved PID neural network controller (PIDNNC) is designed to control the landslide displacement. In the control system, the fuzzy comprehensive judgement model of landslide system is established to judge whether the system needs to be controlled and give the expected displacement. To solve the problem of random initialization in PIDNNC, This paper proposed an improved PIDNNC based on fuzzy PID controller (F-PIDNNC). The fuzzy PID controller is used to obtain the proportional, integral and differential coefficients k p , k i and k d . Then the obtained parameters are taken as the initial weights of PIDNN. The effectiveness of the proposed control system is simulated on Baishuihe and Shiliushubao landslides. The results show that the proposed control system based on F-PIDNNC is much accurate and faster than the traditional one-dimensional fuzzy PID controller and PIDNNC.

—In clinical practice, electroencephalography (EEG) plays an important role in the diagnosis of epilepsy. EEG-based computer-aided diagnosis of epilepsy can greatly improve the accuracy of epilepsy detection while reducing the workload of physicians. However, there are many challenges in practical applications for personalized epileptic EEG detection (i.e., training of detection model for a specific person), including the difficulty in extracting effective features from one single view, the undesirable but common scenario of lacking sufficient training data in practice, and the no guarantee of identically distributed training and test data. To solve these problems, we propose a TSK fuzzy system-based epilepsy detection algorithm that integrates multi-view collaborative transfer learning. To address the challenge due to the limitation of single-view features, multi-view learning ensures the diversity of features by extracting them from different views. The lack of training data for building a personalized detection model is tackled by leveraging the knowledge from the source domain (reference scene) to enhance the performance of the target domain (current scene of interest), where mismatch of data distributions between the two domains is resolved with adaption technique based on maximum mean discrepancy. Notably, the transfer learning and multi-view feature extraction are performed at the same time. Furthermore, the fuzzy rules of the TSK fuzzy system equip the model with strong fuzzy logic inference capability. Hence, the proposed method has the potential to detect epileptic EEG signals effectively, which is demonstrated with the positive results from a large number of experiments on the CHB-MIT dataset. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

The complexity of coupled risks, which refer to the compounded effects of interacting uncertainties across multiple interdependent objectives, is inherent to cities functioning as dynamic, interdependent systems. A disruption in one domain ripples across various urban systems, often with unforeseen consequences. Central to this complexity are people, whose behaviors, needs, and vulnerabilities shape risk evolution and response effectiveness. Realizing cities as complex systems centered on human needs and behaviors is essential to understanding the complexities of coupled urban risks. This paper adopts a complex systems perspective to examine the intricacies of coupled urban risks, emphasizing the critical role of human decisions and behavior in shaping these dynamics. We focus on two key dimensions: cascading hazards in urban environments and cascading failures across interdependent exposed systems in cities. Existing risk assessment models often fail to capture the complexity of these processes, particularly when factoring in human decision-making. To tackle these challenges, we advocate for a standardized taxonomy of cascading hazards, urban components, and their interactions. At its core is a people-centric perspective, emphasizing the bidirectional interactions between people and the systems that serve them. Building on this foundation, we argue the need for an integrated, people-centric risk assessment framework that evaluates event impacts in relation to the hierarchical needs of people and incorporates their preparedness and response capacities. By leveraging real-time data, advanced simulations, and innovative validation methods, this framework aims to enhance the accuracy of coupled urban risk modeling. To effectively manage coupled urban risks, cities can draw from proven strategies in real complex systems. On the one hand,traditional visual SLAM does not consider dynamic objects in the scene,on the other hand,deep learning technology has been widely used in computer *** paper combines the two organically,and proposes an algorithm that uses dynamic object detection to improve the robustness of visual SLAM in a dynamic ***,we use the object detection network integrated into the attention mechanism to detect the dynamic target in the key ***,we follow the optical flow detection to further determine the dynamic feature points in the scene and eliminate ***,we use the static feature points for camera tracking to achieve highly robust monocular visual *** method described in this paper can not only eliminate dynamic feature points,but also retain as many static feature points as *** method described in this paper is compared with the original ORB-SLAM2 algorithm and DS-SLAM algorithm,and tested with public data *** results show that the method described in this paper can effectively eliminate the influence of dynamic objects on the visual SLAM algorithm.

In this paper, a novel pinning controller, which is applied to the selected partial neurons with partial errors needed, is designed for global ultimate Mittag-Leffler lag quasi-synchronization(GUMLQS) of delayed fractional-order memristive neural networks(FMNNs) with switching jumps mismatch. Since the right-hand sides of the equations of FMNNs are discontinuous,FMNNs have no solution in the ordinary sense, and Filippov solutions are adopted for FMNNs. With the assistance of fractional Halanay inequality, a Lyapunov function in quadratic form and the theory of fractional derivative, an LMI-based GUMLQS criterion is derived. For a prescribed GUMLQS error bound, the control gain matrices can be calculated out via a group of ***, the sufficient condition for the feasibility of the LMIs is obtained, which is an important basis for the selection of controlled neurons. Finally, a numerical example shows that the designed pinning controller can achieve GUMLQS between master-slave FMNNs with the prescribed ultimate error bound.

Active magnetic bearing (AMB) rotor system is widely applied in the industry for its remarkable advantages. However, it is a typical open-loop unstable mechatronics system suffering from nonlinear and couple characteristic. In this paper, the feedforward decoupling method is used to deal with the couple relationship of different axes. And the model reference adaptive control (MRAC) method is applied to improve the control performance and robustness and overcome the uncertainties. This control method makes the system output reach to the reference model by the designed adaptive law. Simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 2019 IEEE.

As a popular evolutionary algorithm, artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm has been successfully applied into the threshold-based image segmentation problem. Based on our analysis, we find that the Otsu segmentation function is separable which means each variable is independent. Due to its one-dimensional search strategy and relative power global but poorer local search abilities, ABC could find an acceptable but not precise segmentation results. For making more precise search and further enhancing the achievements on image segmentation, we propose an Otsu segmentation method based on a new ABC algorithm with an improved scout bee strategy. Different from the traditional scout bee strategy, we use a local search strategy when a bee stagnates for a defined value. The experimental results on Berkeley segmentation database demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm. © 2020, Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH. All rights reserved.

As deep learning technology increasingly permeates various fields, the significance of optimization algorithms in neural network training has become more prominent. Typically, the training of deep learning networks relies on gradient descent optimizers based on calculus computations. Traditional integer-order calculus optimizers often fall short when dealing with complex and subtle data. To overcome these limitations, we innovatively utilized the Grünwald-Letnikov and Caputo definitions of fractional calculus to develop two new optimization algorithms: Fractional Order Adagrad (FAdagrad) and Fractional Order Adam (FAdam). These algorithms have been proven to converge to extremal points.A key advantage of our methods is their capability in handling complex, high-dimensional tasks, such as artistic painting image classification, where they exhibit exceptional performance in recognizing and processing subtle differences. The robustness and adaptability of these algorithms were further validated through experiments on the CIFAR-100 dataset. The results demonstrate the efficacy of fractional order optimizers in enhancing training efficiency and accuracy. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The electric vehicle (EV) and electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) have been widely deployed with the development of large-scale transportation electrifications. However, since charging behaviors of EVs show large uncertainties, the forecasting of EVCS charging power is non-trivial. This paper tackles this issue by proposing a reinforcement learning assisted deep learning framework for the probabilistic EVCS charging power forecasting to capture its uncertainties. Since the EVCS charging power data are not standard time-series data like electricity load, they are first converted to the time-series format. On this basis, one of the most popular deep learning models, the long short-term memory (LSTM) is used and trained to obtain the point forecast of EVCS charging power. To further capture the forecast uncertainty, a Markov decision process (MDP) is employed to model the change of LSTM cell states, which is solved by our proposed adaptive exploration proximal policy optimization (AePPO) algorithm based on reinforcement learning. Finally, experiments are carried out on the real EVCSs charging data from Caltech, and Jet Propulsion laboratory, USA, respectively.
