This paper investigates secure consensus problems of nonlinear dynamical networks (NDNs) with node delay under denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, which can cause a break in communication links. It will lead to packet loss. To ensure the secure consensus in this scenario, we propose an effective impulsive control which only based on sampled information from neighbor nodes. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory and the impulsive comparison principle, an upper bound of the average impulse interval is derived to ensure the exponential consensus of NDNs under DoS attacks, and the convergence rate can be estimated. Finally, a numerical example is provided to check the theory results. © 2021 Chinese Automatic control Society and John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.

Protein-Protein Interaction (PPI) provides important insights into the metabolic mechanisms of different biological processes. Although PPIs in some organisms have been investigated systematically, PPIs in the ocean archaea remain largely unexplored. But such species have special investigation value since their adaptation to extreme living conditions may generate unique PPIs. In this paper, we aim to characterize and predict PPIs in ocean archaea to advance understanding of their metabolic networks. First, we collect all ocean archaea PPIs with high confidence from STRING database and analyze the PPI network features, including centrality and enrichment analysis. The functional enrichment results of the largest connecting subgraph in the PPI network show most PPIs in our constructed dataset is related to the translation and transcription processes. Then, we generate an equal number of negative PPI pairs, whose members have either different subcellular locations or GO terms. We also use the generated dataset to test the performance of three pretraining methods and their ensemble methods in the binary PPI prediction task. Our results suggest the ensemble methods could be applied to further improve models’ performance. Fine-tuned models trained on the ocean archaea dataset are expected to predict the other ocean archaea PPIs that are not included in the STRING database and get more understanding about the ocean archaea PPI universe.

Defocus to focus: photo-realistic bokeh rendering by fusing defocus and radiance priors

We consider the problem of realistic bokeh rendering from a single all-in-focus image. Bokeh rendering mimics aesthetic shallow depth-of-field (DoF) in professional photography, but these visual effects generated by existing methods suffer from simple flat background blur and blurred in-focus regions, giving rise to unrealistic rendered results. In this work, we argue that realistic bokeh rendering should i) model depth relations and distinguish in-focus regions, ii) sustain sharp in-focus regions, and iii) render physically accurate Circle of Confusion (CoC). To this end, we present a Defocus to Focus (D2F) framework to learn realistic bokeh rendering by fusing defocus priors with the all-in-focus image and by implementing radiance priors in layered fusion. Since no depth map is provided, we introduce defocus hallucination to integrate depth by learning to focus. The predicted defocus map implies the blur amount of bokeh and is used to guide weighted layered rendering. In layered rendering, we fuse images blurred by different kernels based on the defocus map. To increase the reality of the bokeh, we adopt radiance virtualization to simulate scene radiance. The scene radiance used in weighted layered rendering reassigns weights in the soft disk kernel to produce the CoC. To ensure the sharpness of in-focus regions, we propose to fuse upsampled bokeh images and original images. We predict the initial fusion mask from our defocus map and refine the mask with a deep network. We evaluate our model on a large-scale bokeh dataset. Extensive experiments show that our approach is capable of rendering visually pleasing bokeh effects in complex scenes. Reversible solid oxide cells (rSOC) can operate in both electrolysis mode and in fuel cell mode with high efficiency and reduced cost using the same device for both functions. When used in dynamic operation with intermittent electrical power sources, rSOC system switches from the fuel cell (SOFC) to electrolyzer (SOEC) and vice versa depending on load and grid peculiarities. This can lead to temperature profiles within the stack that can potentially lead to the failure of the stack and eventually the system. In the present work, a system-level dynamic model of rSOC is established and validated against experimental data. Subsequently, detailed dynamic thermal behavior of stack during the switching between the two modes is analyzed, and a temperature management controller based on Model Predict control method (MPC) is proposed. Gas flow and temperature at the stack inlet are controlled by air flow and bypass valves, avoiding problems associated with temperature overshoot during transient operation. The simulation results show that the temperature controller has the ability to follow fast thermal changes while maintaining thermal safety, which indicates the competitiveness of the controller.

This paper investigates the area coverage problem for multiple Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) in dynamic environments. Multiple USVs are employed to execute the coverage task using the Voronoi Partition method for task allocation. Parameter adaptive laws are employed to estimate the parameters of the sensing function and the Voronoi cell centroids for updating the target positions in dynamic environments. Additionally, considering the influence of water surface disturbances, a nonholonomic underactuated model analysis is conducted for the USV under non-full constraints, resulting in a motion strategy for USVs. This enables the multiple USVs to effectively cover the task area. Finally, simulation results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the coverage scheme designed in this paper and the ability of USVs to effectively cover dynamic environments.

When Epipolar Constraint Meets Non-local Operators in Multi-View Stereo

Learning-based multi-view stereo (MVS) method heavily relies on feature matching, which requires distinctive and descriptive representations. An effective solution is to apply non-local feature aggregation, e.g., Transformer. Albeit useful, these techniques introduce heavy computation overheads for MVS. Each pixel densely attends to the whole image. In contrast, we propose to constrain non-local feature augmentation within a pair of lines: each point only attends the corresponding pair of epipolar lines. Our idea takes inspiration from the classic epipolar geometry, which shows that one point with different depth hypotheses will be projected to the epipolar line on the other view. This constraint reduces the 2D search space into the epipolar line in stereo matching. Similarly, this suggests that the matching of MVS is to distinguish a series of points lying on the same line. Inspired by this point-to-line search, we devise a line-to-point non-local augmentation strategy. We first devise an optimized searching algorithm to split the 2D feature maps into epipolar line pairs. Then, an Epipolar Transformer (ET) performs non-local feature augmentation among epipolar line pairs. We incorporate the ET into a learning-based MVS baseline, named ET-MVSNet. ET-MVSNet achieves state-of-the-art reconstruction performance on both the DTU and Tanks-and-Temples benchmark with high efficiency. Code is available at https://***/TQTQliu/ET-MVSNet. This paper mainly solves the containment control issue for a network of infinite-dimensional agents described by wave equations. To eliminate influences caused by external disturbances, observers based on partial differential equations are proposed. A novel interaction protocol is then designed to reach containment control under a fixed directed communication topology. Different from the existing works, disturbances with unbounded derivatives are allowed in this paper. A proper Lyapunov function is constructed and the sufficient condition assuring containment control is obtained. Finally, the theoretical results are verified via numerical examples.

Due to the constraints of manufacturing and materials,high-power plants cannot rely on only one solid oxide fuel cell stack.A multi-stack system is a solution for a highpower system,which consists of multiple fuel cell stacks.A short lifetime is one of the main challenges for the fuel cell before largescale commercial applications,and prognostic is an important method to improve the reliability of fuel *** from the traditional prognostic approaches applied to single-stack fuel cell systems,the key problem in multi-stack prediction is how to solve the correlation of multi-stack degradation,which can directly affect the accuracy of *** response to this difficulty,a standard Brownian motion is added to the traditional Wiener process to model the degradation of each stack,and then the probability density function of the remaining useful life(RUL)of each stack is ***,a Copula function is adopted to reflect the dependence between life distributions,so as to obtain the remaining useful life for the whole multi-stack system.1 The simulation results show that compared with the traditional prediction model,the proposed approach has a higher prediction accuracy for multi-stack fuel cell systems.

ProtDAT: A Unified Framework for Protein Sequence Design from Any Protein Text Description

Protein design has become a critical method in advancing significant potential for various applications such as drug development and enzyme engineering. However, protein design methods utilizing large language models with solely pretraining and fine-tuning struggle to capture relationships in multi-modal protein data. To address this, we propose ProtDAT, a de novo fine-grained framework capable of designing proteins from any descriptive protein text input. ProtDAT builds upon the inherent characteristics of protein data to unify sequences and text as a cohesive whole rather than separate entities. It leverages an innovative multi-modal cross-attention, integrating protein sequences and textual information for a foundational level and seamless integration. Experimental results demonstrate that ProtDAT achieves the state-of-the-art performance in protein sequence generation, excelling in rationality, functionality, structural similarity, and validity. On 20,000 text-sequence pairs from Swiss-Prot, it improves pLDDT by 6%, TM-score by 0.26, and reduces RMSD by 1.2 Å, highlighting its potential to advance protein design. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

To improve the safety of the solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC)systems and avoid the generation of large amounts of pollutants during power switching,this paper designs a power switching strategy based on trajectory planning and sliding mode control(TP-SMC).The design elements of the power switching strategy are proposed through simulation analysis at ***,based on the gas transmission delay time and the change of gas flow obtained from testing,trajectory planning(TP)is *** with other power switching strategies,it has been proven that the power switching strategy based on TP has significantly better control ***-thermore,considering the shortcomings and problems of TP in practical application,this paper introduces sliding mode control(SMC)on the basis of TP to improve the power switching *** final simulation results also prove that the TP-SMC can effectively suppress the impact of uncertainty in gas flow and gas transmission delay *** with TP,TP-SMC can ensure that under uncertain conditions,the SOFC system does not experience fuel starvation and temperature exceeding limit during power ***,the NOx emissions are also within the normal and acceptable *** paper can guide the power switching process of the actual SOFC sys-tems to avoid safety issues and excessive generation of NOx,which is very helpful for improving the performance and ser-vice lifeof the SOFCsystems.
