Accurately predicting the future trend of traffic flow is of great significance to the planning of urban traffic. The great challenge of predicting traffic flow stems from the complexity and uncertainty of traffic flow. To address the complexity of traffic flow, this paper proposes a MAF-GCN $\text{Seq}2$ Seq model. The model uses a moving average filter to filter the time series data, extracts the spatial features between each node through a graph convolutional neural network, and forms a time series matrix for input into the encoder (GRU), and introduces a self-attention mechanism to mine the spatial features. time-domain features for multi-step traffic speed prediction. In order to verify the advanced nature of the model, this paper uses the traffic flow data set in Shenzhen to predict the traffic flow. Through the comparison experiments, it can be seen that the prediction accuracy of the MAF-GCN $\text{Seq}2$ Seq model reaches 90%, which has obvious advantages compared with other models.

In this paper, the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system as the contributor of building climate management is studied on multi-zone climate dynamics modelling and control for occupancy comfort. The first-principles model together with data-driven model as the hybrid model is proposed for comprehensive multi-zone hygro-thermal dynamics. The unmodeled climate dynamics such as unknown nonlinearity and uncertainty is modeled in a linear form based on the compact form dynamic linearization (CFDL) method. Then model free adaptive control (MFAC) scheme including controller design and parameter estimation is proposed to realize multi-zone climate control and occupancy comfort. The dynamic response performance of the hybrid model-based adaptive control and the first-principles model-based adaptive control has been tested in a multi-zone building with four different zones. The results show that the proposed hybrid model-based adaptive control scheme can achieve obvious performance improvement in minimizing steady-state error.

Binary Representation via Jointly Personalized Sparse Hashing

Unsupervised hashing has attracted much attention for binary representation learning due to the requirement of economical storage and efficiency of binary codes. It aims to encode high-dimensional features in the Hamming space with similarity preservation between instances. However, most existing methods learn hash functions in manifold-based approaches. Those methods capture the local geometric structures (i.e., pairwise relationships) of data, and lack satisfactory performance in dealing with real-world scenarios that produce similar features (e.g. color and shape) with different semantic information. To address this challenge, in this work, we propose an effective unsupervised method, namely Jointly Personalized Sparse Hashing (JPSH), for binary representation learning. To be specific, firstly, we propose a novel personalized hashing module, i.e., Personalized Sparse Hashing (PSH). Different personalized subspaces are constructed to reflect category-specific attributes for different clusters, adaptively mapping instances within the same cluster to the same Hamming space. In addition, we deploy sparse constraints for different personalized subspaces to select important features. We also collect the strengths of the other clusters to build the PSH module with avoiding over-fitting. Then, to simultaneously preserve semantic and pairwise similarities in our proposed JPSH, we incorporate the proposed PSH and manifold-based hash learning into the seamless formulation. As such, JPSH not only distinguishes the instances from different clusters, but also preserves local neighborhood structures within the cluster. Finally, an alternating optimization algorithm is adopted to iteratively capture analytical solutions of the JPSH model. We apply the proposed representation learning algorithm JPSH to the similarity search task. Automatic segmentation of bone marrow cells plays an important role in the diagnosis of many blood diseases such as anemia and leukemia. Due to the complex morphology and wide variety of bone marrow cells, their segmentation is still a challenging task. To improve the accuracy of bone marrow cell segmentation, we propose an end-to-end U-shaped network based on the pyramid residual convolution and the attention mechanism. Specifically, the standard convolution and dilated convolution are combined as its feature encoder, which designs a pyramid residual convolution block to extract multi-scale features. Then, the attention gating mechanism is introduced into each skip connection module for fusing the shallow and deep information. Finally, the proposed method combines convolution and deconvolution for feature decoding to achieve the final segmentation of bone marrow cells. Experiments with quantitative and qualitative comparisons are carried out on a self-built bone marrow smear dataset. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method over several state-of-the-art methods. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

RGBD images, which refer to the three-channel color images augmented with depth channel, have been greatly exploited to improve the performance of scene semantic segmentation. RGBD semantic segmentation task is of great significance to help the development of robot navigation and grasping. However, most existing methods addressing RGBD semantic segmentation lack effective feature fusion modules. To address the aforementioned problem, we propose a novel network with two novel modules for feature fusion, namely Channel-Attention based Complementary Feature Fusion Module (CAC-FFM) and Cross-Layer Feature Fusion Module (CL-FFM). Specifically, CAC-FFM, which is essentially based on the channel-attention mechanism, effectively utilizes the complementary information of RGB and depth to generate fusion features, and CL-FFM captures patch-wise features from low-level feature maps to assist the training of high-level features so as to further optimize the segmentation results. Experimental results on the publicly available NYUDv2 dataset validate the effectiveness and superiority of our proposed method.

DNA-based data storage has been attracting significant attention due to its extremely high data storage density, low power consumption, and long duration compared to conventional data storage media. Despite the recent advancements in DNA data storage technology, significant challenges remain. In particular, various types of errors can occur during the processes of DNA synthesis, storage, and sequencing, including substitution errors, insertion errors, and deletion errors. Furthermore, the entire oligo may be lost. In this work, we report a DNA-based data storage architecture that incorporates efficient channel coding schemes, including different types of error-correcting codes (ECCs) and constrained codes, for both the inner coding and outer coding for the DNA data storage channel. We also carried out large scale experiments to validate our proposed DNA-based data storage architecture. Specifically, 1.61 and 1.69 MB data were encoded into 30,000 oligos each, with information densities of 1.731 and 1.815, respectively. It has been found that the stored information can be fully recovered without any error at average coverages of 4.5 and 6.0, respectively. This experiment achieved the highest net information density and lowest coverage among existing DNA-based data storage experiments (with standard DNA), with data recovery rates and coverage approaching theoretical optima. This paper presents an improved deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm, namely Advanced Actor Critic (AAC), which is based on Actor Critic (AC) algorithm, to the video game Artificial intelligence (AI) training. The advantage distribution estimator, Normal Constraint (NC) function and exploration based on confidence are introduced to improve the AC algorithm, in order to achieve accurate value estimate, select continuous spatial action correctly, and explorate effectively. The aim is to improve the performance of conventional AC algorithm in a complex environment. A case study of video game StarCraft II mini-game AI training is employed. The results verify that the improved algorithm effectively improves the performance in terms of the convergence rate, maximum reward, average reward in every 100 episode, and time to reach a specific reward, etc. The analysis on how these modifications improve the performance is also given through interpretation of the feature layers in the mini-games. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

Simple molecular graphs or molecular line notations are insufficient for molecular representation learning models that automatically learn molecule representations to acquire deep semantic features about chemistry. Therefore, we proposed the Morgan Fingerprint Graph, a novel molecular graph model constructed with the nodes of the Morgan Fingerprint Identifier, whose nodes incorporate various properties of the atom neighborhood. Based on our Morgan Fingerprint Graph, we trained a BERT-based molecular representation model MFGB which employs a local rather than global attention module to adapt the model to the Morgan Fingerprint Graph. The attention module of MFGB regulates the exchange of information in the attention layer based on the connection information of the atoms in the molecules. To verify the effectiveness of MFGB, we selected several mainstream datasets for evaluation. The results demonstrated that our method improve the performance of molecular properties prediction. In addition, we analyzed MFGB from both the over-smoothing and the attention perspectives. The analysis indicates that the node vector representations learned from the Morgan Fingerprint Graph are generally less smoothing, and the attention distributions of MFGB match the partial charge density distribution of the molecules.

Currently, screen content video applications are increasingly widespread in our daily lives. The latest Screen Content Coding (SCC) standard, known as Versatile Video Coding (VVC) SCC, employs screen content Coding Modes (CMs) selection. While VVC SCC achieves high coding efficiency, its coding complexity poses a significant obstacle to the further widespread adoption of screen content video. Hence, it is crucial to enhance the coding speed of VVC SCC. In this paper, we propose a fast mode and splitting decision for Intra prediction in VVC SCC. Specifically, we initially exploit deep learning techniques to predict content types for all CUs. Subsequently, we examine CM distributions of different content types to predict candidate CMs for CUs. We then introduce early skip and early terminate CM decisions for different content types of CUs to further eliminate unlikely CMs. Finally, we develop Block-based Differential Pulse-Code Modulation (BDPCM) early termination to improve coding speed. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can improve coding speed by $34.95 \%$ on average while maintaining almost the same coding efficiency.

In recent years, significant advancements have been made in the field of anomaly detection. Expanding anomaly detection tasks to new scenarios has become a development avenue. Anomaly detection for the outer packaging of supermarket goods is a challenging task due to the diversity of goods’ appearances, which results in some detection methods suffering from limited sensitivity to anomalies and inadequate target mining. To address these issues, we propose a novel unsupervised anomaly detection method based on multi-branch feature extraction and foreground cosine structure mining strategy. Firstly, we use anomaly synthesis technique to enhance the model’s perception of anomalies and construct more precise decision boundaries in the feature space. Secondly, a multi-branch feature extractor extracts and integrates multi-level and multi-scale features, providing rich texture and semantic information to improve the model’s adaptability in real-world scenarios. Finally, the foreground cosine loss focuses on target mining while supplementing local structural information, further enhancing the model’s ability to detect subtle anomalies. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, extensive experiments were conducted on the GoodsAD dataset, sampled from supermarket scenarios. Experimental results show that this method achieves significant performance in image-level detection and pixel-level localization.
