Modality Unified Attack for Omni-Modality Person Re-Identification

Deep learning based person re-identification (re-id) models have been widely employed in surveillance systems. Recent studies have demonstrated that black-box single-modality and cross-modality re-id models are vulnerable to adversarial examples (AEs), leaving the robustness of multi-modality re-id models unexplored. Due to the lack of knowledge about the specific type of model deployed in the target black-box surveillance system, we aim to generate modality unified AEs for omni-modality (single-, cross- and multi-modality) re-id models. Specifically, we propose a novel Modality Unified Attack method to train modality-specific adversarial generators to generate AEs that effectively attack different omni-modality models. A multi-modality model is adopted as the surrogate model, wherein the features of each modality are perturbed by metric disruption loss before fusion. To collapse the common features of omnimodality models, Cross Modality Simulated Disruption approach is introduced to mimic the cross-modality feature embeddings by intentionally feeding images to non-corresponding modality-specific subnetworks of the surrogate model. Moreover, Multi Modality Collaborative Disruption strategy is devised to facilitate the attacker to comprehensively corrupt the informative content of person images by leveraging a multi modality feature collaborative metric disruption loss. Extensive experiments show that our MUA method can effectively attack the omni-modality re-id models, achieving 55.9%, 24.4%, 49.0% and 62.7% mean mAP Drop Rate, respectively. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

Hand detection is paid more attention to in the field of augmented reality, which can enhance user experience of human–computer interaction. It is more and more popular to use deep neural networks to research hand detection. A new method of hand detection based on YOLOv3 Model is proposed in our work. Our target is to contribute to a real-time hand detection system to make it more accuracy and convenient for the experience of the user and can apply in all aspects of our life. 11 K hands dataset is used to perfrom the experiments and the result is sound. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

How to represent the temporal information corresponding to each fact in temporal knowledge graphs (TKGs) effectively is always challenging. Most existing representation learning methods usually map the timelines of knowledges into multiple points and ignore the underlying continuous time property and periodic characteristics behind those dense timestamps in finer-time granularity temporal knowledge graphs. A novel Knowledge Evolution with Time Duration (KETD) model is proposed for knowledge representation of temporal knowledge graphs with finer-time granularities. It represents the entity embedding as a time-varying nonlinear function to find the specific continuous time property from dense timestamps. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first attempt to learn embeddings of time durations and combines them into embeddings of entities and relations to predict potential periodic facts. It also uses the temporal point process to capture the impact of historical facts on the current fact. The experiments on self-built finer-time granularity TKG of Satellite-to-Earth Communication (STEC) and two public datasets have demonstrated the superiority of KETD compared to some baseline approaches.

This paper examines the event-triggered consensus of the multi-agent system on matrix-weighted networks, where the interdependencies among higher-dimensional states of neighboring agents are characterized by matrix-weighted edges in the network. Specifically, a novel distributed dynamic event-triggered coordination strategy is proposed for this category of generalized networks, in which an auxiliary system is employed for each agent to dynamically adjust the triggering threshold, which plays an essential role in guaranteeing that the triggering time sequence does not exhibit Zeno behavior. Distributed event-triggered control protocols are proposed to guarantee leaderless consensus for multi-agent systems on matrix-weighted networks, respectively. Remarkably, the spectrum of matrix-valued weights is crucial in event-triggered mechanism design for matrix-weighted networks, generalizing those results only applicable for scalar-weighted networks. The proposed approach allows each agent to broadcast and receive information only at its triggering instants. Finally, simulation examples are provided to demonstrate the theoretical results.

This paper proposes a novel method named recursive transformed component dissimilarity analysis (RTCDA) combining dissimilarity analysis algorithm and traditional sliding window technique for detecting incipient gradual faults. Firstly, orthogonal transformed components (TCs) corresponding to a new set of data in the sliding window are obtained using a recursive algorithm based on rank-one modification. Then, to quantitatively estimate the distribution difference of TCs, the dissimilarity index between TCs of the new dataset and that of referenced dataset is calculated. The distribution of TCs changes more dramatically than that of original data after a small quantitative bias in the original data. Compared with original data, TCs are more sensitive to tiny quantitative variation of dataset. Finally, case studies on a numerical example and a practical industrial fed-batch penicillin fermentation process are carried out to evaluate the performance of RTCDA method for incipient gradual fault detection.

Out-of-distribution (OOD) detection aims to identify the test examples that do not belong to the distribution of training data. The distance-based methods, which identify OOD examples based on their distances from the centroids of in-distribution (ID) examples, have demonstrated promising OOD detection performance. However, the objectives utilized in prior approaches are typically designed for classification and thus might not yield sufficient discriminative power to distinguish between ID and OOD examples. Therefore, this paper proposes a prototype-based contrastive learning framework for OOD detection, which is termed provable Discriminative Hyperspherical Embedding (DHE). The proposed framework provides a theoretical analysis of inter-class dispersion, which is proved to be fundamental in reducing the false positive rate (FPR) on OOD examples. Based on this, we devise an angular spread loss to achieve the maximal dispersion of the prototypes of different classes prior to training. Subsequently, a prototype-enhanced contrastive loss is introduced to align embeddings of ID examples closely with their corresponding prototypes. In our proposed DHE, the maximal prototype dispersion is theoretically proved, thereby avoiding the pitfalls of local optima commonly encountered by most existing methods. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed DHE, which showcases a remarkable reduction in FPR95 (i.e., 5.37% on CIFAR-100) and more than doubling the computational efficiency when compared with the state-of-the-art methods. Most recent intelligent systems study the perception or policy modules independently but ignore the inter-connection between them, which results in low information efficiency and high network redundancy, in the end, leads to the incomplete utilization of network potential and poor system-level end-to-end intelligence. This paper proposes an integrated end-to-end network that adapts to multi-domain inputs and multi-function outputs. 'Integration' is defined in this paper in mainly three aspects: network structure level, optimization level, and functional level. The integrated network architecture is capable of fusing multiple raw sensory inputs and outputting multiple perceptions and decisions simultaneously. We first implement the integrated system in a virtual simulation environ-ment and investigate the domain transformation methods to real world. Comprehensive experiment results in both virtual and real environments show that our proposed system can behave normally under exploration, target-driven navigation and target shooting tasks. © 2022 IEEE.

Since the cumbersome collection process and high cost, the collected degradation of the product is basically small samples, which will affect the accuracy of reliability evaluation. It is necessary to expand the degradation to improve the accuracy of later reliability assessment. Therefore, a degradation generation and prediction method is proposed combining the time series generator adversarial network (TimeGAN) and stochastic process. Firstly, the input degradation is expanded by the sliding window to improve the later training accuracy; Then, the construction of the generator in TimeGAN is linked with the stochastic process to make the generation data more realistic. Finally, the results of degradation prediction by the Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) can be obtained. Two datasets and different generation methods are adopted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results shows that the Kullback-Leibler(KL) divergence is the smallest, and the prediction error is the smallest compared with the other methods. So, the proposed method is proved that it is valid in the degradation generation and prediction, and can be used for the further reliability assessment of the product in the industrial system.

Isoforms refer to different mRNA molecules transcribed from the same gene, which can be translated into proteins with varying structures and functions. Predicting the functions of isoforms is an essential topic in bioinformatics as it can provide valuable insights into the intricate mechanisms of gene regulation and biological processes. Conventionally, gene function labels are standardized in Gene Ontology (GO) terms. However, traditional methods for predicting isoform function are largely limited by the absence of isoform-specific labels, sparse annotations, and the vast number of GO terms. To address these issues, we propose HANIso, a deep learning-based method for isoform function prediction. HANIso leverages a pretrained protein language model to extract features from protein sequences. It also integrates heterogeneous information, such as isoform sequence features, GO annotations, and isoform interaction data, using a Heterogeneous Graph Attention Network (HAN). This allows the model to learn the importance of different sources of information and their semantic relationships through the attention mechanism. Our method can predict function labels at both the gene level and isoform level. We conduct experiments on two species datasets, and the results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods on both AUROC and AUPRC. HANIso has the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional methods and provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of isoform function.

University computer rooms generally prefer batch purchasing strategy to simplify the management process such as system deployment and software update. However, with the growth of the life of the equipment, the failure of electronic products is inevitable, especially once the motherboard problem occurs, it is often difficult to find a replacement that exactly matches the original motherboard. Even if the replacement is found, its price is far beyond the market average level. After several years of operation, even the motherboard purchased in the same batch may also lead to the coexistence of a variety of models due to various reasons. In this situation, it becomes impractical to carry out unified network cloning. To solve this problem, we propose an innovative solution: deploying a local backup system combined with a server-controlled startup mode. The core of this solution is that through the local backup system, we can effectively deal with the challenge of different motherboard models, and ensure that each machine can have its own system snapshot. At the same time, the server-controlled boot mode further enhances the flexibility and efficiency of management, so that even in the hardware diversity of the environment, it can also achieve batch system recovery. The introduction of local backup system not only solves the problem of differentiated computer room management, but also significantly improves the convenience and stability of computer room operation and maintenance.
