We investigate the basin of attraction properties and its boundaries for chimera states in a circulant network of Hénon maps. It is known that coexisting basins of attraction lead to a hysteretic behaviour in the diagrams of the density of states as a function of a varying parameter. Chimera states, for which coherent and incoherent domains occur simultaneously, emerge as a consequence of the coexistence of basin of attractions for each state. Consequently, the distribution of chimera states can remain invariant by a parameter change, as well as it can suffer subtle changes when one of the basins ceases to exist. A similar phenomenon is observed when perturbations are applied in the initial conditions. By means of the uncertainty exponent, we characterise the basin boundaries between the coherent and chimera states, and between the incoherent and chimera states, respectively. This way, we show that the density of chimera states can be not only moderately sensitive but also highly sensitive to initial conditions. This chimera's dilemma is a consequence of the fractal and riddled nature of the basins boundaries. Coupled dynamical systems have been used to describe the behaviour of real complexsystems, such as power grids, neuronal networks, economics, and chemical reactions. Furthermore, these systems can exhibit various kinds of interesting nonlinear dynamics, e.g. synchronisation, chaotic oscillations, and chimera states. The chimera state is a spatio-temporal pattern characterised by the coexistence of coherent and incoherent dynamics. It has been observed in a great variety of systems, ranging from theoretical and experimental arrays of oscillators, to in phenomena such as the unihemispheric sleep of cetaceans. Inspired by the hunting and foraging behaviors of group predators, this paper addresses a class of multi-player pursuit–evasion games with one superior evader, who moves faster than the pursuers. We are concerned with the conditions under which the pursuers can capture the evader, involving the minimum number and initial spatial distribution required as well as the cooperative strategies of the pursuers. We present some necessary or sufficient conditions to regularize the encirclement formed by the pursuers to the evader. Then we provide a cooperative scheme for the pursuers to maintain and shrink the encirclement until the evader is captured. Finally, we give some examples to illustrate the theoretical results.

In this article, I would like to share my daughter's experience on self-STEAM education. In our daily life, she can always find problems and then dream them with her imagination, finally narrows down her solutions to solve problems in her own way. During these problem-solving processes, I noticed that she went through sciences, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics in a very natural way. So I would like to say, STEAM is the way we learn and grow ever since we were born. But later at school, we are trained in a way that subjects are completely disconnected. It might take time to change this situation at school, but at home, as parents, we need to realize that children can discover new things by themselves even from young ages, and provide rich learning environment for them and let them "STEAM " themselves in their own way.

With the battlefield environment becomes more complicated nowadays, it's difficult to achieve high precision target tracking only using single platform of target tracking system. Especially for maneuvering targets, the application of interactive multiple model(IMM) algorithm based on a variety model becomes necessary and feasible. At the same time, the best linear unbiased estimate(BLUE) filter is much more appropriate and useful than Kalman filter when it comes to deal with nonlinear system. Most of the time, we are blind to the correlation degree of our target during the merge process of tracking. We can track our target with multi-platform with introduction of Cross-Correlation(CI) fusion algorithm which is based on distributed data and proves its effectiveness by simulation.

Fast single image dehazing has been a challenging problem in many fields, such as computer vision and real-time applications. Recently, many dehazing algorithms have been proposed based on the dark channel prior(DCP). However, these algorithms aim to improve the refinement of the raw transmission map, while ignore the computational complexity of DCP ***, this paper proposes a new technique for fast single image haze removal, which achieves a good tradeoff between the dehazing performance and the computational complexity. We first decompose the observed haze image into a coarse image and a detail image using Gaussian-Laplacian pyramid. Then, the coarse image is dehazed by Dark Channel Prior and Guided filter(GDCP). For the size of the coarse image is 1/4 of the original image, the computational complexity is reduced ***, the recomposed image is blurred, since the detail image is still haze. So, we employ an unsharp filter to sharpen the blurred recomposed image. Experimental results show that the proposed dehazing technique effectively removes haze, and significantly reduces the computational complexity by 69.59% on average, compared with traditional GDCP algorithm.
