Infrared image super-resolution reconstruction based on residual fast fourier transform

Infrared images have been widely used in military, civilian, and industrial fields. Due to the inherent limitations of sensors, infrared images usually have some disadvantages such as low resolution and blurred texture details. How to improve the resolution of infrared images without changing hardware devices has become a current research hotspot. Aiming at the problem that the existing infrared image super-resolution reconstruction methods do not utilize the image details sufficiently, this paper proposes an infrared image super-resolution reconstruction algorithm based on residual fast fourier transform(ISRRFT). The image features are extracted in both spatial domain and frequency domain, so as to fully extract the high-frequency and low-frequency information components of infrared images and improve the quality of reconstructed infrared images In addition, the learnable fast fourier transform loss function has been introduced, which is used in conjunction with the L1 loss function to calculate the loss from both the spatial and frequency domains, thus better optimizing the model parameters. The test results on three test sets, SR1280, IRData and Infrared20, show that the proposed algorithm has an optimal performance in terms of both objective and subjective evaluation metrics compared to current representative algorithms. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

There is an urgent need for new concept underwater observation and detection equipment in marine exploration, becoming a key development direction for marine resource detection, marine scientific research, underwater rescue, and underwater defense. With the advancement of new SPAD array technology, its application in terrestrial/underwater Lidar has gained attention. This paper addresses the issues of insufficient photoelectric imaging sensitivity and high noise under strong underwater scattering conditions by investigating an underwater micro-scanning laser single-photon imaging system based on a 32×32 avalanche photodiode (SPAD) array. The system uses a SPAD array with time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC) functionality combined with a high-power, high-repetition-rate blue-green laser and micro-scanning imaging methods to detect weak photon echo signals underwater. It employs 2×2 low-resolution micro-scanning imaging to achieve 64×64 micro-scanning high-resolution single-photon imaging and recognition for both terrestrial and underwater targets. Additionally, the design of the optical system, optomechanical structure, and underwater pressure-sealed tank is carried out. An underwater micro-scanning single-photon laser imaging experimental system based on the SPAD array is developed. Through imaging experiments on land and underwater, the feasibility and effectiveness of the system's technical approach are demonstrated, providing effective technical and methodological support for further detection systems in actual marine environments. © 2025 SPIE.

Thickness Measurement of Single-Mode Fiber Coating Layer Based on Forward Brillouin Scattering

The coating layer is essential for protecting and applying optical fibers. Nowadays, the thickness measurement of the coating layer relies on point measurement schemes, such as the side-looking light distribution method and mechanical method. However, there are some problems with the above methods, such as the tradeoff between resolution and field of view (FOV), the cutting of the measurement position, and the long measurement time. To overcome these problems, we propose a new method based on forward Brillouin scattering (FBS), which measures the coating layer thickness of single mode fibers (SMFs). The physical properties of the transverse acoustic field involved in FBS make it possible to measure the thickness of the fiber coating. The corresponding relationship between the transverse acoustic mode frequency and the diameter of the coating layer can be calculated. The coating layer thickness can be measured with high precision by measuring the frequency spectrum of FBS corresponding to multiple transverse acoustic modes at a given temperature. In the verification experiment, three types of SMF coated with polyimide are used as the sensing fiber to measure the thickness of the coating layer at multiple temperatures. The experimental results show that the error in the coating layer thickness obtained is less than 0.05 μm. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of nondestructive, high-precision monitoring of fiber coating thickness. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper proposes the design of a wireless video transmission system based on the retina-like distributed CMOS imaging device, BIT-Retina52, aimed at addressing the issue of cable entanglement caused by wired transmission during dynamic image rotation-elimination experiments. The overall design takes the heterogeneous multi-core chip ZYNQ SoC as the main control unit to conduct co-design of hardware and software: the Programmable Logic (PL) side implements the acquisition, format conversion, and transmission of image data, while the Processing system (PS) manages data flow control, data buffering, and packetized transmission. Additionally, a Linux system was built to port the USB Wi-Fi module driver. The upper computer system was developed using the Qt framework for image reception and display. Through timing simulations and experimental validation, this design successfully achieved the stable acquisition and transmission of visible light images from the BIT-Retina52 under wireless conditions. © 2025 SPIE.

Unrolling Reweighted Total Variation-Based Split Bregman Iterative Framework for Electrical Impedance Tomography Image Reconstruction

Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is one of the typical ill-posed inverse problems, where serious ill-posedness and the linear approximation of the forward operator lead to obvious distortions and artifacts in the degraded reconstructions, further limiting its practical application. The learning-based strategies with image enhancement have been introduced into EIT reconstruction and also achieved improvements. Nevertheless, this idea ignores the priori knowledge of physical information, while not fully exploiting data consistency, resulting in poor generalization and interpretability. In this work, a reweighted Split Bregman (SB) iterative algorithm is proposed regularized by total variation firstly, referred to as RwTVSB. Moreover, the RwTVSB iteration is unrolled into a neural network-based learning framework, dubbed as RwTVSB-Net. The reweighted matrix is introduced to the SB iteration, which could overcome the loss of information of the forward operator due to the linear approximation and also enhance the constraints of the physical priori. Specifically, (1) a network based on residual connection and SE-attention is designed to update the reweighted matrix. (2) Further, a U-shaped architecture with deformable large kernel convolution, dilated convolution, and cross-attention is embedded into this unrolling framework to learn the soft threshold operator. This not only maintains consistency with the RwTVSB iterative algorithm but also uses multi-scale features to fusion information at multiple levels. Both simulated and real-world measured data are employed to validate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed RwTVSB-Net. The visual reconstructions and quantitative metrics show that RwTVSB-Net outperforms other state-of-the-art methods. In addition, the robustness of the method is tested and validated on multiple imaging tasks. © 2015 IEEE.

In this paper, we present a novel surface reconstruction algorithm leveraging curvatures and lengths between discrete points. By integrating this algorithm with a shape sensing system, we achieve high-speed measurement of wing shapes. The simulation and experimental results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm in restoring preset curves. The average relative error is found to be at a remarkable level of 10-2, while the average running time remains at an impressive level of 10-2 s. Additionally, through static and dynamic shape perception performed by the shape sensing system, we observe a relative error of 4.85% when subjecting the simulated wing to uniform tension, and a relative error of 3.1% under twisted tension conditions. These findings confirm the capability of our experimental device to accomplish rapid morphological monitoring at an impressive frequency of 505 kHz. © 2023 IEEE.

Color formulation prediction aims to get different target colors based on a specified color range. It was difficult for existing color matching methods to achieve accurate nonlinear mapping from target colors to formulations due to the overlook of the global and local features of color information. Global featuress represent the long-range variation trends of the input information, while local features represent the numerical characteristics of the input data. To address this issue, a novel feature extraction block based on Transformer and parallel convolutional neural network was proposed for the first time. By integrating this block with a color feature extractor after the fusion of color features, a multimodal color feature fusion network framework was constructed to comprehensively learn the nonlinear mapping between multi-modal inputs and formulations, formulation reflectance curves. This network framework achieved a total loss of 0.0421 and a formulation loss of 0.0391 on test set, indicating more accurate color formula predictions. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Mid-infrared wavelength switchable and dual-wavelength random laser output has many potential applications.A polarization-maintaining random fiber Bragg grating(PMRFBG)array based on the photonic localization effect of longitudinal invariant transverse disorder in fiber structure is proposed,which can be used as random feedback of dual-wavelength and wavelength switchable output of random fiber laser(RFL).The random fiber Bragg grating(RFBG)array was designed on the panda-type polarization-maintaining fiber(PMF),and the two center wavelengths were 2151.60 nm and 2152.22 nm,*** RFBG array was designed on the bow tie-type PMF,and the two center wavelengths were obtained,which were 2153.08 nm and 2153.96 nm,*** RFBG array with a center wavelength of 2139.27 nm was designed on single-mode fiber(SMF).The length of individual fiber Bragg grating(FBG)and PMRFBG,the refractive index modulation depth,the number of cascaded gratings,and the distance between gratings have different effects on the full width at half maximum(FWHM)and reflectance of the RFBG and PMRFBG array,but not on the central wavelength,as obtained by simulation using the transmission matrix *** designed PMRFBG array provides theoretical support for the design of the feedback mechanism of RFL.

By combining a silicon-based lithium niobate modulator and a silicon-based Si3N4resonator with silicon-based photonics technology,a highly systematic design of a hybrid integrated optical gyroscope with enhanced reciprocity sensitivity and a dual micro-ring structure is proposed for the first time in this *** relationship between the device's structural parameters and optical performance is also analyzed by constructing a complete simulation link,which provides a theoretical design reference to improve the system's *** the wavelength is 1550 nm,the conversion frequency of the dual-ring optical path is 50 MHz,the coupling coefficient is 0.2,and the radius R is 1000μm,the quality factor of the silicon-based Si_(3)N_(4)resonator is 2.58×10^(5),which is 1.58 times that of the silicon-on-insulator ***,the effective number of times the light travels around the ring before leaving the micro-ring is 5.93,which is 1.62 times that of the silicon-on-insulator *** work fits the gyro dynamic output diagram,and solves the problem of low sensitivity at low speed by setting the phase *** results provide a basis for the further optimization of design and chip processing of the integrated optical gyroscope.
