Toward Time-Continuous Data Inference in Sparse Urban CrowdSensing

Mobile Crowd Sensing (MCS) is a promising paradigm that leverages mobile users and their smart portable devices to perform various real-world tasks. However, due to budget constraints and the inaccessibility of certain areas, Sparse MCS has emerged as a more practical alternative, collecting data from a limited number of target subareas and utilizing inference algorithms to complete the full sensing map. While existing approaches typically assume a time-discrete setting with data remaining constant within each sensing cycle, this simplification can introduce significant errors, especially when dealing with long cycles, as real-world sensing data often changes continuously. In this paper, we go from fine-grained completion, i.e., the subdivision of sensing cycles into minimal time units, towards a more accurate, time-continuous completion. We first introduce Deep Matrix Factorization (DMF) as a neural network-enabled framework and enhance it with a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN-DMF) to capture temporal correlations in these finer time slices. To further deal with the continuous data, we propose TIME-DMF, which captures temporal information across unequal intervals, enabling time-continuous completion. Additionally, we present the Query-Generate (Q-G) strategy within TIME-DMF to model the infinite states of continuous data. Extensive experiments across five types of sensing tasks demonstrate the effectiveness of our models and the advantages of time-continuous completion. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. With the rapid development of various sensing devices, spatiotemporal data is becoming increasingly important nowadays. However, due to sensing costs and privacy concerns, the collected data is often incomplete and coarse-grained, limiting its application to specific tasks. To address this, we propose a new task called spatiotemporal data reconstruction, which aims to infer complete and fine-grained data from sparse and coarse-grained observations. To achieve this, we introduce a two-stage data inference framework, DiffRecon, grounded in the Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Model (DDPM). In the first stage, we present Diffusion-C, a diffusion model augmented by ST-PointFormer, a powerful encoder designed to leverage the spatial correlations between sparse data points. Following this, the second stage introduces Diffusion-F, which incorporates the proposed T-PatternNet to capture the temporal pattern within sequential data. Together, these two stages form an end-to-end framework capable of inferring complete, fine-grained data from incomplete and coarse-grained observations. An expansion of Internet of Things (IoTs) has led to significant challenges in wireless data harvesting, dissemination, and energy management due to the massive volumes of data generated by IoT devices. These challenges are exacerbated by data redundancy arising from spatial and temporal correlations. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel data-driven collaborative beamforming (CB)-based communication framework for IoT networks. Specifically, the framework integrates CB with an overlap-based multi-hop routing protocol (OMRP) to enhance data transmission efficiency while mitigating energy consumption and addressing hot spot issues in remotely deployed IoT networks. Based on the data aggregation to a specific node by OMRP, we formulate a node selection problem for the CB stage, with the objective of optimizing uplink transmission energy consumption. Given the complexity of the problem, we introduce a softmax-based proximal policy optimization with long-short-term memory (SoftPPO-LSTM) algorithm to intelligently select CB nodes for improving transmission efficiency. Simulation results show that the proposed OMRP improves network lifetime by 17% compared to benchmark routing protocols, while the SoftPPO-LSTM method for CB node selection achieves an 8.3% increase in throughput over benchmark algorithms. Automatic cell/nucleus detection is a prerequisite for various quantitative analyses on microscopy image. However, previous deep learning methods require enough annotated microscopy images for better performance, which is a great challenge for microscopy image due to limited annotation and high cost. This paper proposes an end-to-end adversarial learning model with unsupervised domain adaptation for cell/nucleus detection. Different staining microscopy images transformation and cell/nucleus detection are merged into one end-to-end model to achieve mutual restriction of accuracy. Furthermore, a cross-domain consistency loss is introduced, which can refine the results of image transformation and localize cells synchronously. The experiments conclude that proposed method achieves the best F1 scores compared with other methods on cell/nucleus detection of different staining microscopy images. Moreover, ablation study also approves the effectiveness of cross-domain consistency loss.

Large language models(LLMs) excellent performance across a variety of tasks, but they come with significant computational and storage costs. Quantizing these models is an effective way to alleviate this issue. However, existing methods struggle to strike a balance between model accuracy and hardware efficiency. This is where we introduce AWEQ, a post-training method that requires no additional training overhead. AWEQ excels in both ultra-low-bit quantization and 8-bit weight and activation (W8A8) quantization. There is an observation that weight quantization is less challenging than activation quantization. AWEQ transfers the difficulty of activation quantization to weights using channel equalization, achieving a balance between the quantization difficulties of both, and thereby maximizing performance. We have further refined the equalization method to mitigate quantization bias error, ensuring the robustness of the model. Extensive experiments on popular models such as LLaMA and OPT demonstrate that AWEQ outperforms all existing post-training quantization methods for large models. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. In this paper, we propose a multi-task learning (MTL) network based on the label-level fusion of metadata and hand-crafted features by unsupervised clustering to generate new clustering labels as an optimization goal. We propose a MTL module (MTLM) that incorporates an attention mechanism to enable the model to learn more integrated, variable information. We propose a dynamic strategy to adjust the loss weights of different tasks, and trade off the contributions of multiple branches. Instead of feature-level fusion, we propose label-level fusion and combine the results of our proposed MTLM with the results of the image classification network to achieve better lesion prediction on multiple dermatological datasets. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed model by quantitative and qualitative measures. The MTL network using multi-modal clues and label-level fusion can yield the significant performance improvement for skin lesion classification. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Graph few-shot learning has garnered significant attention for its ability to rapidly adapt to downstream tasks with limited labeled data, sparking considerable interest among researchers. Recent advancements in graph few-shot learning models have exhibited superior performance across diverse applications. Despite their successes, several limitations still exist. First, existing models in the meta-training phase predominantly focus on instance-level features within tasks, neglecting crucial set-level features essential for distinguishing between different categories. Second, these models often utilize query sets directly on classifiers trained with support sets containing only a few labeled examples, overlooking potential distribution shifts between these sets and leading to suboptimal performance. Finally, previous models typically require necessitate abundant labeled data from base classes to extract transferable knowledge, which is typically infeasible in real-world scenarios. To address these issues, we propose a novel model named STAR, which leverages Set funcTions and optimAl tRansport for enhancing unsupervised graph few-shot learning. Specifically, STAR utilizes expressive set functions to obtain set-level features in an unsupervised manner and employs optimal transport principles to align the distributions of support and query sets, thereby mitigating distribution shift effects. Theoretical analysis demonstrates that STAR can capture more task-relevant information and enhance generalization capabilities. Human pose estimation in videos has long been a compelling yet challenging task within the realm of computer vision. Nevertheless, this task remains difficult because of the complex video scenes, such as video defocus and self-occlusion. Recent methods strive to integrate multi-frame visual features generated by a backbone network for pose estimation. However, they often ignore the useful joint information encoded in the initial heatmap, which is a by-product of the backbone generation. Comparatively, methods that attempt to refine the initial heatmap fail to consider any spatio-temporal motion features. As a result, the performance of existing methods for pose estimation falls short due to the lack of ability to leverage both local joint (heatmap) information and global motion (feature) dynamics. To address this problem, we propose a novel joint-motion mutual learning framework for pose estimation, which effectively concentrates on both local joint dependency and global pixel-level motion dynamics. Specifically, we introduce a context-aware joint learner that adaptively leverages initial heatmaps and motion flow to retrieve robust local joint feature. Given that local joint feature and global motion flow are complementary, we further propose a progressive joint-motion mutual learning that synergistically exchanges information and interactively learns between joint feature and motion flow to improve the capability of the model. More importantly, to capture more diverse joint and motion cues, we theoretically analyze and propose an information orthogonality objective to avoid learning redundant information from multi-cues. Empirical experiments show our method outperforms prior arts on three challenging benchmarks. © 2024 ACM.

Diagnosability is an important property in the field of fault diagnosis. In this paper, a novel approach based on logical formula is proposed to verify diagnosability of Discrete event systems(DESs). CNFFSM is defined to represent a new model for DES. Each transition in DES can be described as a clause. According to CNF-FSM, we construct a CNF-diagnoser. Based on the resolution principle and CNF-diagnoser, an algorithm is presented to test whether the failure events can be detected or not in a finite number of observable *** algorithm can be applied in both off-line diagnosis and on-line diagnosis. Experimental results show that our algorithm can solve the diagnosability problem efficiently.
