Image fusion technology is the basis of computer vision task,but information is easily affected by noise during *** this paper,an Improved Pigeon-Inspired Optimization(IPIO)is proposed,and used for multi-focus noisy image fusion by combining with the boundary handling of the convolutional sparse *** two-scale image decomposition,the input image is decomposed into base layer and detail *** the base layer,IPIO algorithm is used to obtain the optimized weights for fusion,whose value range is gained by fusing the edge ***,the global information entropy is used as the fitness index of the IPIO,which has high efficiency especially for discrete optimization *** the detail layer,the fusion of its coefficients is completed by performing boundary processing when solving the convolution sparse representation in the frequency *** sum of the above base and detail layers is as the final fused *** results show that the proposed algorithm has a better fusion effect compared with the recent algorithms.

In this paper, we investigate a transmission eigenvalue problem that couples the principles of acoustics and elasticity. This problem naturally arises when studying fluid-solid interactions and constructing bubbly-elastic structures to create metamaterials. We uncover intriguing local geometric structures of the transmission eigenfunctions near the corners of the domains, under typical regularity conditions. As applications, we present novel unique identifiability and visibility results for an inverse problem associated with an acoustoelastic system, which hold practical significance. © 2024, CC BY.

Positive and Unlabeled (PU) learning refers to a special case of binary classification, and technically, it aims to induce a binary classifier from a few labeled positive training instances and loads of unlabeled instances. In this paper, we derive a theorem indicating that the probability boundary of the asymmetric disambiguation-free expected risk of PU learning is controlled by its asymmetric penalty, and we further empirically evaluated this theorem. Inspired by the theorem and its empirical evaluations, we propose an easy-to-implement two-stage PU learning method, namely Positive and Unlabeled Learning with Controlled Probability Boundary Fence (PUL-CPBF). In the first stage, we train a set of weak binary classifiers concerning different probability boundaries by minimizing the asymmetric disambiguation-free empirical risks with specific asymmetric penalty values. We can interpret these induced weak binary classifiers as a probability boundary fence. For each unlabeled instance, we can use the predictions to locate its class posterior probability and generate a stochastic label. In the second stage, we train a strong binary classifier over labeled positive training instances and all unlabeled instances with stochastic labels in a self-training manner. Extensive empirical results demonstrate that PUL-CPBF can achieve competitive performance compared with the existing PU learning baselines.

The aim is to construct a country-dimension knowledge graph of COVID-19 vaccines from the information of COVID-19 vaccines and to analyze the leading countries of vaccine R&D by combining the advantages of easy operation and intuitive feeling of knowledge graph visualization,to provide a reference for Chinese vaccine R&D departments and international *** this paper,through data collection,based on entity extraction and relationship construction,a knowledge graph of country dimensions was established by specifying the central vaccine R&D countries and vaccine distribution,and multidimensional microdata such as word frequency and betweenness centrality were combined to analyze the national characteristics of the COVID-19 *** analysis of the knowledge graph of the country dimension of the COVID-19 vaccine shows that countries with robust technology and economies,such as the US and China,choose to develop vaccine distribution independently,countries with advanced economies,such as Saudi Arabia,decide to purchase vaccine distribution,and less developed countries,such as South Africa and Latin America,need international aid for vaccines or purchase low-cost *** paper constructs the correlation between nodes and nodes of the COVID-19 vaccine with the help of a knowledge graph,systematically and comprehensively reveals the research mainstay and distribution model of the COVID-19 vaccine from the national level,and provides rationalized suggestions for international cooperation in vaccine R&D in China.

Consistency label-activated region generating network for weakly supervised medical image segmentation

The current methods of auto-segmenting medical images are limited due to insufficient and ambiguous pathonmorphological labeling. In clinical practice, rough classification labels (such as disease or normal) are more commonly used than precise segmentation masks. However, there is still much to be explored regarding utilizing these weak clinical labels to accurately determine the lesion mask and guide medical image segmentation. In this paper, we proposed a weakly supervised medical image segmentation model to directly generate the lesion mask through a class activation map (CAM) guided cycle-consistency label-activated region transferring network. Cycle-consistency enforces that the mappings between the two domains should be reversible, which ensures that the original image can be reconstructed from the translated image. We developed a complementary branches fusion module to address the issue of blurry boundaries in CAM-guided segmentation. The complementary branch preserves the original semantic information of the non-lesion region and perfectly fuses the transferred feature of the lesion region with a complementary mask-constrained fake image generation process to clear the boundary of the lesion and non-lesion regions. This module allows the class transformation to focus solely on the label-activated region, resulting in more explicit segmentation. This model can accurately identify different region of medical images at the pixel-level while preserving the overall semantic structure semantion. It organizes disease labels and corresponding regions during image synthesis. Our method utilizes a joint discrimination strategy that significantly enhances the precision of the produced lesion mask. Extensive experiments of the proposed method on BraTs, ISIC and COVID-19 datasets demonstrate superior performance over existing state-of-the-art methods. Left ventricle (LV) segmentation in echocardiography is of paramount significance in cardiac function analysis. Recently, semi-supervised segmentation has garnered considerable attention due to its potential mitigation of labeling costs. Despite this, most semi-supervised methodologies tend to overlook the specialized anatomical priors specific to echocardiography, often yielding suboptimal outcomes. Simultaneously, atlas priors have been validated on other organs and imaging modalities. However, their direct application in echocardiography is fraught with challenges, primarily attributed to the indistinct boundaries of the LV and the presence of fan-shaped image edges, which impede atlas image registration. This paper presents a new method of semi-supervised segmentation using multi-atlas fusion, named SS- MAF, which is designed to incorporate atlas priors tailored for echocardiography while circumventing the intricate image registration process in traditional atlas-based methods. The SS-MAF comprises two components: a Multi-Task Learning (MTL) module and a Multi-Atlas Fusion (MAF) module. The MTL module serves precise landmark localization and segmentation estimation. The MAF module is primarily focused on the generation of probabilistic atlases, utilizing annotated atlas data with the guidance of key landmarks to facilitate the automatic annotation of unlabeled data, avoiding the traditional image-level registration, thus enhancing the performance of the MTL module. Our SS- MAF is rigorously evaluated on the publicly available CAMUS dataset, with results demonstrating its superiority over other state-of-the-art semi-supervised segmentation techniques in echocardiography.

Automatic Detection of Lumbar Spondylolisthesis and Instability Using Supine Magnetic Resonance Images

Background and Objective: Lumbar spondylolisthesis is a condition in which one vertebra is displaced relative to the vertebra below it. Lumbar instability can be divided into static and dynamic spondylolisthesis depending on whether the degree of slippage changes significantly in images taken in different postures. Usually, the degree of slippage of lumbar instability is not obvious on magnetic resonance (MR) images taken in the supine position;therefore, it is easy to miss the detection of spondylolisthesis with lumbar instability based on slippage. This feature of lumbar instability also poses a challenge for the automatic detection of dynamic spondylolisthesis, particularly in supine MR images. This study aimed to develop a two-stage model for the automatic detection of spondylolisthesis and lumbar instability using supine MR ***: Specifically, we used You Only Look Once (YOLO) to detect and crop consecutive images near the intervertebral discs (IVDs) on both sagittal and transverse axis magnetic resonance images, and then classified the cropped images using weight-sharing convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Consistency regularization and a new contrast loss function ware also developed to improve the robustness. The MR data we used includes 108 mixed samples of lumbar instability and spondylolisthesis (39 cases of lumbar instability and 69 cases of spondylolisthesis) and 182 normal ***: We found that YOLO could detect the complete image sequence between L1 and S1 with 97.24% accuracy (ACC). Compared with the ground truth labels, the mean of intersection over union (mIOU) is 84.58%. In addition, the ACC and mIoU for transverse axis image are 98.62% and 85.71% respectively. Troublemaker Learning for Low-Light Image Enhancement

Low-light image enhancement (LLIE) restores the color and brightness of underexposed images. Supervised methods suffer from high costs in collecting low/normal-light image pairs. Unsupervised methods invest substantial effort in crafting complex loss functions. We address these two challenges through the proposed TroubleMaker Learning (TML) strategy, which employs normal-light images as inputs for training. TML is simple: we first dim the input and then increase its brightness. TML is based on two core components. First, the troublemaker model (TM) constructs pseudo low-light images from normal images to relieve the cost of pairwise data. Second, the predicting model (PM) enhances the brightness of pseudo low-light images. Additionally, we incorporate an enhancing model (EM) to further improve the visual performance of PM outputs. Moreover, in LLIE tasks, characterizing global element correlations is important because more information on the same object can be captured. CNN cannot achieve this well, and self-attention has high time complexity. Accordingly, we propose Global Dynamic Convolution (GDC) with O(n) time complexity, which essentially imitates the partial calculation process of self-attention to formulate elementwise correlations. Based on the GDC module, we build the UGDC model. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments demonstrate that UGDC trained with TML can achieve competitive performance against state-of-the-art approaches on public datasets. Federated learning (FL) enables collaborative model training across multiple medical institutions to ensure data security. However, due to the variations in medical imaging equipment and regions at different medical institutions, FL methods usually suffer from insufficient data annotations and irrelevant noise within private datasets. To address these issues, a robust federated semi-supervised learning method via pseudo-label filtering (PFRFed) is introduced to utilize unlabeled data while mitigating the impact of noise data. Compared with existing federated semi-supervised learning methods, we propose a pseudo-label filtering mechanism with double dynamic thresholds, which allows the model to adopt more unlabeled data by adjusting the confidence and entropy thresholds at each stage of model training. Moreover, to reduce the degradation caused by noise data in private datasets from different clients, a noise-tolerant loss function and a grouping aggregation method based on the local model similarity are employed. The comparative experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of PFRFed, which has achieved the best classification accuracy of 95.20% and 88.72% on two public medical datasets. Also, PFRFed exhibits heightened resilience to variations in noisy data ratio and labeled data ratio, reaffirming its versatility and robustness.

Uncertainty-Aware Global-View Reconstruction for Multi-View Multi-Label Feature Selection

In recent years, multi-view multi-label learning (MVML) has gained popularity due to its close resemblance to real-world scenarios. However, the challenge of selecting informative features to ensure both performance and efficiency remains a significant question in MVML. Existing methods often extract information separately from the consistency part and the complementary part, which may result in noise due to unclear segmentation. In this paper, we propose a unified model constructed from the perspective of global-view reconstruction. Additionally, while feature selection methods can discern the importance of features, they typically overlook the uncertainty of samples, which is prevalent in realistic scenarios. To address this, we incorporate the perception of sample uncertainty during the reconstruction process to enhance trustworthiness. Thus, the global-view is reconstructed through the graph structure between samples, sample confidence, and the view relationship. The accurate mapping is established between the reconstructed view and the label matrix. Experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of our method on multi-view datasets.
