The rapid accumulation of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) has transformed healthcare by providing valuable data that enhance clinical predictions and diagnoses. While conventional machine learning models have proven effective, they often lack robust representation learning and depend heavily on expert-crafted features. Although deep learning offers powerful solutions, it is often criticized for its lack of interpretability. To address these challenges, we propose DeepSelective, a novel end to end deep learning framework for predicting patient prognosis using EHR data, with a strong emphasis on enhancing model interpretability. DeepSelective combines data compression techniques with an innovative feature selection approach, integrating custom-designed modules that work together to improve both accuracy and interpretability. Our experiments demonstrate that DeepSelective not only enhances predictive accuracy but also significantly improves interpretability, making it a valuable tool for clinical decision-making. Sfmfold: A Multi-Modal Contrast Learning Model for Rna Secondary Structure Prediction

The secondary structure of RNA can regulate the interaction between RNA and protein and perform various biological tasks through specific folding shapes, which plays an important role in revealing biomolecular mechanisms and developing new vaccines and therapeutic drugs. However, existing RNA secondary structure prediction methods based on thermodynamics and traditional neural network models usually lack the ability to model long-distance dependencies of RNA molecules and cannot handle complex non-nested structures in RNA molecules. In this paper, we propose a multi-modal contrastive learning method SFMFold based on state space model, which captures long-distance interactions in RNA sequences through RNA sequence representation learning part, and models the structure of RNA molecules through RNA structure representation learning part. Finally, the features of the two modalities are aligned and deeply fused to obtain the final RNA molecule prediction map. We test SFMFold on several datasets, and the experiments show that our proposed model shows excellent performance in cross-family prediction and long sequence prediction tasks. In addition, SFMFold can also effectively predict non-nested structures such as pseudoknot with better accuracy than the SOTA methods. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites can be used to assist maritime wireless communications for data transmission across wide-ranging areas. However, extensive coverage of LEO satellites, combined with openness of channels, can cause the communication process to suffer from security risks. This paper presents a low-altitude friendly-jamming LEO satellite-maritime communication system enabled by a unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to ensure data security at the physical layer. Since such a system requires trade-off policies that balance the secrecy rate and energy consumption of the UAV to meet evolving scenario demands, we formulate a secure satellite-maritime communication multi-objective optimization problem (SSMCMOP). In order to solve the dynamic and long-term optimization problem, we reformulate it into a Markov decision process. We then propose a transformer-enhanced soft actor critic (TransSAC) algorithm, which is a generative artificial intelligence-enable deep reinforcement learning approach to solve the reformulated problem, so that capturing global dependencies and diversely exploring weights. Simulation results demonstrate that the TransSAC outperforms various baselines, and achieves an optimal secrecy rate while effectively minimizing the energy consumption of the UAV. Causal-Inspired Multitask Learning for Video-Based Human Pose Estimation

Video-based human pose estimation has long been a fundamental yet challenging problem in computer vision. Previous studies focus on spatio-temporal modeling through the enhancement of architecture design and optimization strategies. However, they overlook the causal relationships in the joints, leading to models that may be overly tailored and thus estimate poorly to challenging scenes. Therefore, adequate causal reasoning capability, coupled with good interpretability of model, are both indispensable and prerequisite for achieving reliable results. In this paper, we pioneer a causal perspective on pose estimation and introduce a causal-inspired multitask learning framework, consisting of two stages. In the first stage, we try to endow the model with causal spatio-temporal modeling ability by introducing two self-supervision auxiliary tasks. Specifically, these auxiliary tasks enable the network to infer challenging keypoints based on observed keypoint information, thereby imbuing causal reasoning capabilities into the model and making it robust to challenging scenes. In the second stage, we argue that not all feature tokens contribute equally to pose estimation. Prioritizing causal (keypoint-relevant) tokens is crucial to achieve reliable results, which could improve the interpretability of the model. To this end, we propose a Token Causal Importance Selection module to identify the causal tokens and non-causal tokens (e.g., background and objects). Additionally, non-causal tokens could provide potentially beneficial cues but may be redundant. We further introduce a non-causal tokens clustering module to merge the similar non-causal tokens. Extensive experiments show that our method outperforms state-of-the-art methods on three large-scale benchmark datasets. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A Two-Dimensional Improvement for Farr-Gao Algorithm

Farr-Gao algorithm is a state-of-the-art algorithm for reduced Gr?bner bases of vanishing ideals of finite points, which has been implemented in Maple as a build-in command. This paper presents a two-dimensional improvement for it that employs a preprocessing strategy for computing reduced Gr?bner bases associated with tower subsets of given point sets. Experimental results show that the preprocessed Farr-Gao algorithm is more efficient than the classical one.

CMRM: Collaborative Multi-agent Reinforcement Learning for Multi-objective Traffic Signal Control

Efficient traffic signal control is a cost-effective way to ease urban traffic congestion. Multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) has become a widely adopted method for optimizing traffic signal control (TSC). However, existing MARL-based methods often focus on a single optimization objective, lacking a comprehensive consideration of traffic efficiency, environmental pollution, and traffic safety. Simultaneously, these methods often fail to effectively capture the dynamic and complex interactions among agents in multi-intersection scenarios, which negatively impacts traffic efficiency. In this article, we propose a collaborative MARL-based method for multi-objective TSC, called CMRM. First, we introduce a multi-objective reward mechanism that integrates traffic efficiency, environmental impact, and safety to guide agents toward more comprehensive optimization. Second, we design a cooperation enhancement module (CEM) based on the graph attention mechanism to dynamically capture neighboring agents’ state information. This mitigates the partial observability problem in independent proximal policy optimization (IPPO) and enhances the model’s ability to capture dynamic and complex interactions among agents. Finally, we assess the performance of the proposed CMRM method using SUMO on two real traffic networks. Experimental results demonstrate that our method significantly improves traffic efficiency while reducing environmental pollution and enhancing traffic safety, compared to the best performing baseline, our method reduces CO2 emission by approximately 17.53% and 9.57%, and lowers vehicle collision risks by 44.39% and 42.85% in two different traffic networks. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Unknown Task Selection and Worker Recruitment Using Two-Stage Multi-Armed Bandit in Crowdsensing

Mobile Crowdsensing (MCS) faces significant challenges in selecting tasks with expected high revenue and recruiting workers with expected high qualities to maximize overall utility. Existing approaches often assume the revenue of posting tasks or the quality of workers is determined, which limits their practical applicability. This paper tackles these challenges by modeling the long-term multi-task, multi-worker selection problem as a Two-Stage Multi-Armed Bandit (TS-MAB) problem under uncertainty. In each round, the MCS platform selects a long-term task from a pool and recruits the necessary workers, determining payments accordingly. We model the task selection phase as a MAB problem, and the worker recruitment phase, influenced by the task selection, as a Combinatorial MAB (CMAB) problem. We propose an extended Upper Confidence Bound (UCB)-based strategy and develop an incentive mechanism based on Auction theory, combined with TS-MAB (i.e., ATS-MAB), for unknown task selection and worker recruitment. Our mechanism theoretically guarantees truthfulness and individual rationality, with a theoretical analysis of its regret bounds. Furthermore, we introduce an adaptive incentive mechanism called AATS-MAB, which improves worker recruitment and quality updates, achieving higher total sensing quality and lower regret. Extensive simulations demonstrate the effectiveness and scalability of the proposed methods. © 2014 IEEE.
