The reliability of circuit breakers is of great importance for the safe operation of the power grid. Most failures of the circuit breakers were caused by their operating mechanism, which often contains a lot of components. What is more, the secondary connections of the circuit breakers are also complicated. The lack of modular design of domestic circuit breakers now limits the development of reconditioning. To improve the reliability and reduce the maintenance time of the circuit breaker, research on the modular design of a 110 kV circuit breaker has been carried out and the verification was also conducted. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Balancing efficiency and meat quality during the thawing of frozen meat remains a big challenge for meat industry. In this study, the effects of three thawing methods, including ultrasound-assisted thawing (UT), solid-state microwave thawing (SMT) and air thawing (CT) on the quality and protein physicochemical properties of beef in a pilot scale, were investigated. COMSOL Multiphysics simulation was employed to predict the thawing process, identifying an optimal endpoint of no more than -2 ºC. Results showed that optimized SMT efficiently avoided overheating and greatly balanced the thawing efficiency, meat quality and physicochemical properties of myofibrillar proteins, resulting in better water-holding capacity, lower levels of TBARS value and protein oxidation, while though UT kept better color and reduced protein denaturation, serious mechanical damage and aggravated protein oxidation limited its application. Thus, SMT could be a promising solution for industrial applications to thaw frozen meat. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Imidazole ionic liquids (ILs) have broad application prospects in batteries and other fields. Researching the thermal decomposition features of ILs holds paramount importance for the application in battery electrolyte. 1-allyl-3-methylimidazole nitrate ionic liquid (IL) as a new functional IL, and its related thermal decomposition properties are unknown. In this paper, the thermal decomposition peculiarities of 1-allyl-3-methylimidazole nitrate IL were systematically analyzed by thermogravimetric analyzer, differential scanning calorimetry, and accelerating rate calorimeter techniques, and the relevant thermodynamic parameters and thermal decomposition models were derived. In addition, 1-allyl-3-methylimidazole nitrate IL possesses strong thermal runaway characteristics and the risk of thermal runaway is also evaluated. The main gaseous products formed by the pyrolysis of 1-allyl-3-methylimidazole nitrate IL was detected and analyzed by thermogravimetry-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric-photoionization mass spectrometry techniques. The results showed that flammable gas, toxic gas, and asphyxiating gas are formed during the pyrolysis of 1-allyl-3-methylimidazole nitrate IL. This study lays a theoretical foundation for the safe application and the formulation of corresponding safety protection measures of 1-allyl-3-methylimidazole nitrate IL. © 2024 Author(s).

A fractional order chaos system is first designed. It is a linear-nonlinear hybrid using fractional order logistic map. The fractional order chaos system is closer to the real nature phenomena and has better cryptography features than the integer order chaotic systems in dynamics, such as larger range of key space and almost no periodic windows in bifurcation diagrams. Then, we propose an image encryption scheme employing the superior chaotic features of the fractional order chaos system. Which chaotic sequences generated are used for permutation and addition/subtraction operation of encryption depends on the plaintext image. Security analysis and test results indicate that our encryption scheme has a high efficiency and superior security.

Modular multilevel converter (MMC) is currently the most concerned voltage source converter topology in the field of flexible direct current transmission (VSC-HVDC). Due to its non-linear characteristics, harmonic components will inevitably be generated in AC and DC systems, which may affect the operation of equipment and system, cause protection equipment to malfunction, and cause interference to neighboring communications. The MMC converter is a non-linear device, which can be considered as an amplifying modulator with voltage and current conversion functions. The AC and DC networks are coupled to each other through the MMC converter to generate dynamic harmonic interaction. In recent years, harmonic instability problems have appeared in many VSC-HVDC projects. Compared with other converter topologies, the transfer relationship of harmonics on the AC and DC sides of MMC converters has not been studied in depth. In this paper, by studying the AC/DC harmonic conversion characteristics of MMC converters, it reveals the conversion law of MMC converters between AC/DC harmonics;through theoretical derivation, the quantitative calculation method of MMC harmonic transmission process is given. PSCAD simulation results prove the correctness of the above results. © 2021 IEEE.

In view of how to effectively detect a complete pulse period and the echo signal without triggering information and the fixed pulse cycle, this paper proposed a real-time detection algorithm of echo signal and developed a detection software of echo signal on the platform of Visual C++. First of all, the relative frequency domain energy detection algorithm was adopted to detect a pulse cycle through the adaptive threshold. Then, the echo signal was detected by the copy correlation algorithm. At last, the results were visualized in real time for the users. The experiment of the algorithm showed that the software can detect the complete pulse cycle and echo signal, and the performance of the system is quite stable. © 2019 IEEE.

Acquisition distance information of the underwater target is very important to evaluate the target noise level, so it is necessary to do some research on the passive localization method for the underwater target. In this paper, the multi-hydrophone units model is used to passively achieve target localization information in the underwater environment;the accurate DOA estimation and ranging calculation method are presented. The localization blind area problem with different units models is discussed. The blind area problem caused by traditional passive localization model (three units) is solved by the method with four random units, which can locate the underwater unpredictable target in arbitrary direction. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Urinary metabolites and handwipe phthalate levels among adults and children in southern China: Implication for dermal exposure

Paired handwipe and urine samples were collected from adult (n = 130) and child (n = 82) residents of a typical urban community in southern China to examine relationships between external and internal exposure as well as the contribution of dermal absorption to the exposure of phthalates. The concentrations and composition profiles of phthalates were similar in handwipes from both adults and children, and contained mainly di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), di-n-butyl phthalate (DnBP) and di-iso-butyl phthalate (DiBP), consistent with profiles of phthalates in air and dust. The major metabolites of these phthalates, i.e., mono-n-butyl phthalate (mnBP) from DnBP, mono-iso-butyl phthalate (miBP) from DiBP and three metabolites of DEHP (namely mEHP, mEHHP and mEOHP) were widely detected in paired urine samples. Positive correlations were found between contamination levels of DiBP and DnBP in handwipes and their corresponding urinary metabolites, whereas no significant correlation was observed for DEHP. This suggests that dermal absorption might be an important exposure pathway particularly for low molecular weight phthalates. Our study shows that dermal absorption is a non-negligible exposure pathway for phthalates, to which children are particularly sensitive since the contribution of dermal uptake to the internal exposure of phthalates was higher in children than adults. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.

The capacitive ring vibrating gyroscope is a new type of solid-state inertial sensor, which is manufactured by micromachining and microelectronic process technology. According to the environmental adaptability of MEMS gyroscope, a capacitive micromachined ring vibrating gyroscope with high-overload is designed based on the vibration characteristics and working principle of degenerate gyroscope. In this paper, the dynamic theory and angle sensitivity mechanism is studied, and the anti-overload characteristics are analyzed base on material theory. The design parameters of the sensitive structure are optimized and determined by analyzing the maximum stress and displacement in a certain rage of load. The simulation results have proven that the resonant frequency of the vibrating gyroscope studied in this paper is 8.7620 kHz, and it can work safely on the transient impact of 10 000g, which provides an analytical basis for the further development of high-overload micromachined gyroscope. © 2020 IEEE.

Research on the real-time positioning method of vector buoys in deep sea

Buoys are generally difficult to anchor in Deep-sea environment, at the same, due to the influence of long-term in the ocean environment, the location relationship between each other buoys will change, which may cause the traditional predicted method of buoy system trapped in losing efficacy. This paper researched on the problem of the buoy baseline length vary positioning method applicability, on the basis of this study, focused on the theoretical analysis and simulation of applicability to different positioning method. Following this, a realtime positioning method based on vector buoys system in deep sea is presented. Covered the applicability shortage of traditional underwater acoustic passive positioning, used multiple vector buoys to locate the target jointly, and provide a theory basis for real-time positioning function of vector buoys in engineering. The simulation results show that this method is feasible and effective.
