Job shop scheduling has become the basis and core of advanced manufacturing technology. Various differences exist between academic research and practical production. The majority of previous researches on job shop scheduling problem (JSSP)describe the basic production environment, which have a single objective and limited constraints. However,a practical process of production is characterized by having multiple objectives,no-wait constraint,and limited storage. Thus this research focused on multiobjective,no-wait JSSP. To analyze the problem,it was further divided into two sub-problems, namely, sequencing and timetabling. Hybrid non-order strategy and modified complete local search with memory were used to solve each problem individually. A Pareto-based strategy for performing fitness assessment was presented in this study. Various experiments on benchmark problems proved the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

The variable-speed, variable-pitch speed wind turbines are widely used in the wind-energy system. However, the fluctuation of power generation is serious because of the erratic speed of wind and the nonlinearity of the energy conversion systems (ECS). How to keep the ECS work well during the whole operating region is a challenge issue. In this paper, a multiple model predictive control (MMPC) using the state estimation is present to solve this issue. The whole operating region is divided into several sub-regions according to the wind's speed, in which several linear models and corresponding MPCs are constructed. The state variables of each local model are estimated by using the Kalman filter. A new switching criterion without perturbation is present to keep the MMPC works well at the different operating region switching. Considering the operating constraints, a quadratic programming procedure is used to calculate the optimal value of MMPC. Comparing the conventional PI controller, the proposed control achieves a good performance and reduces the fluctuation of power generation. Simulation results show the excellent performance of the present method.

Many networks constructed and investigated in network science are based on quantized weights of edges due to limitation on measurement or for research convenience. In this work, quantization effects on networks properties are investigated based on the eigenvalues of the corresponding Laplacian. Non-integer weights are rounded off to nd that higher rounding-off precision leads to a better approximation of the original networks distribution of eigenvalues, whereas shows no in uence on the quantization results. In contrast to the intuition that larger quantization level always implies a better approximation of the quantized network to the original one, periodic jumping phenomena at the critical quantization level with peak-value decreasing in a power-law relationship are observed in all the real-world networks we investigated. Furthermore, random exchange of weights among edges could in uence the critical quantization level but doesn’t affect the jumping phenomena.
