The gaze-independent brain-computer interface (BCI) based on rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) is an extension of the oddball paradigm, and can facilitate communication for people with severe neuromuscular disorders. Recently, some researches showed that the gaze-independent BCIs based on RSVP used dummy face pictures as stimuli obtained high performance. However, the user' fatigue wasn't be fully considered. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce users' fatigue and to further improve the performance of them. Some studies suggested that face elicited high event related potential (ERP) were mediated by the eye region. That is, face with only eyes region could evoke as high ERPs as completed face. In this paper, an improved paradigm was presented which used dummy face with only eyes region as stimulus. Ten healthy subjects participated in our experiment. Compared with the complete dummy face stimulus, the results showed that the dummy face with only eyes region stimulus could evoke higher N200 and VPP amplitudes. Results from users' feedback also showed the dummy face with only eyes region pattern made them more relaxed.

A Facile Self-assembly Synthesis of Hexagonal ZnO Nanosheet Films and Their Photoelectrochemical Properties

Here, large-scale and uniform hexagonal zinc oxide(ZnO) nanosheet films were deposited onto indium tin oxide(ITO)-coated transparent conducting glass substrates via a facile galvanic displacement deposition process. Compared with other commonly used solution methods, this process avoids high temperature and electric power as well as supporting agents to make it simple and cost-effective. The as-fabricated ZnO nanosheet films have uniform hexagonal wurtzite structure. The photoelectrochemical(PEC) cell based on ZnO nanosheet film/ITO photoelectrode was also fabricated and its performance was improved by optimizing the solution concentration. A higher photocurrent density of*500 l A cm^(-2)under AM 1.5 G simulated illumination of 100 m W cm^(-2)with zero bias potential(vs. Ag/AgCl electrode) was obtained, which may ascribe to the increased surface-to-volume ratio of disordered Zn O nanosheet arrays. Our developed method may be used to deposit other oxide semiconductors, and the Zn O nanosheet film/ITO PEC cell can be used to design low-cost optoelectronic and photoelectrochemical devices.

Continuous use of ERP-based BCIs with different visual angles in ALS patients

Objective: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rare disease, but is also one of the most common motor neuron diseases, and people of all races and ethnic backgrounds are affected. There is currently no cure. Brain computer interfaces (BCIs) can establish a communication channel directly between the brain and an external device by recognizing brain activities that reflect user intent. Therefore, this technology could help ALS patients in promoting functional independence through BCI-based speller systems and motor assistive devices. Methods: In this paper, two kinds of ERP-based speller systems were tested on 18 ALS patients to: (1) assess performance when they spelled 42 characters online continuously, without a break;and (2) to compare performance between a matrix-based speller paradigm (MS-P, mean visual angle 6◦) and a new speller paradigm that used a larger visual angle called the large visual angle speller paradigm (LS-P, mean visual angle 8◦). Results: Although results showed that there were no significant differences between the two paradigms in accuracy trend over continuous use (p>0.05), the fatigue during the LS-P condition was significantly lower than that of MS-P (p Copyright © 2017, The Authors. This paper is concerned with the distributed L 2 - L ∞ state estimation for discrete-time delayed neural networks with missing measurements and sensor failures. The model of neural networks is constructed by the combination with nonlinear functions and state space expressions. Time-varying delays are assumed to have the lower bounds and the upper bounds, and the missing measurements and the sensor failures are described by a stochastic Bernoulli distributed variable and uncertainties, respectively. By using a distributed network, Kronecker product, linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) technology and the solving optimization problems, a sufficient condition is derived to ensure that the filtering error system is stochastically asymptotically stable and achieves the optimal L 2 - L ∞ performance. Finally, a simulation example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper is concerned with robust H∞ self-triggered control of networked systems. The system considered here includes parameter uncertainties and packet dropouts. In order to compensate for the existence of deterministic packet dropouts, a new self-triggered control scheme is proposed. The main feature of the proposed self-triggered control strategy is that the next control task is predicted based on the self-triggered technique, in which the predicted event interval is divided equally for the sake of packet dropouts. The triggered condition is developed to ensure the stability of the uncertain sampled system by utilizing an uncertain algebraic Riccati equation and the comparison principle. Finally, an example of the inverted pendulum of a cart is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

This paper studies the input-output finite-time stabilization problem of a class of fuzzy stochastic systems with randomly occurring uncertainties and (x, u)-dependent noises. By considering the randomly occurring gain fluctuations in controller gains, a fuzzy controller is designed to render the closed-loop system input-output finite-time stochastic stability with respect to some specified parameters. Through intensive stochastic analysis, a sufficient condition is established for the controller design via a convex optimization approach. A numerical example is exploited to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

Study on Food Information Online Monitoring System Utilized Wireless Sensor Network

The farmland information monitoring generally has the characteristics of complex environment, more monitoring point and wide coverage. Wireless sensor networks technical is the main means to realize variables information collection of agricultural environment network. In order to solve the problem of reliable real-time transmission, a farmland information online monitoring based on wireless sensor network has been designed, which the ZigBee wireless communication technology was used. Monitoring data of different farmland regions are transmitted through the GPRS network to the monitoring center securely and reliably. The use of data monitoring center is aimed at collecting data for processing. The results show that the online monitoring system of field information can automatically complete the data acquisition and transmission throw GPRS network, the data can be sent to the data server with high stability, high reliability, punctuality, meeting the basic requirements of on-line monitoring of farmland information.

The robust exponential stability and L-gain analysis of the uncertain switched nonlinear cascade systems with time varying delay are considered in this ***,a sufficient condition for robustly exponential stability is studied by using the average dwell-time method,piecewise Lyapunov function and free weighting matrix approach,and then the L-gain of the uncertain switched nonlinear cascaded systems with the external disturbance is ***,the switching law and the average dwell-time are ***,a numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

An ethylene plant's main purpose is to convert hydrocarbon feedstock,usually natural gas liquids or naphtha,into a "cracked gas" that contains ethylene and other higher value products,by breaking carbon-carbon bonds in the *** process also results in the slow deposition of coke,a form of carbon,on the reactor *** coke layer on the internal tube skin reduces the cross section of the reactor tube,increases the pressure drop and also degrades the efficiency of the *** characteristic that continuous operational performance of cracking furnaces gradually decays within time brings challenge to the operational scheduling for the entire furnace *** it's normally time-consuming to develop a new process model for multiple feeds and different cracking furnaces in the new process *** this paper,a transfer learning method based on time series is proposed for fast modeling ethylene yields from the view of common characteristics that ethylene yield decays over *** to previous studies,the new model allows to take advantage of a small amount of newly labeled data to construct a high-quality prediction model for the new ***,it obtains satisfied short-term forecast *** studies demonstrate the efficacy of the developed methodology.
