Automatic EEG spike detection provide valuable information for diagnosis of epilepsy. In the past 30 years, a number of algorithms were proposed. However, the basic idea of most algorithms is to identify spike activities. We have developed an algorithm based on identify non-spike activities for off-line analysis. In this paper, we improved the algorithm for online application using real-time template. Template method is a typical spike detection method. It was not widely employed because of the difficulty of making template. Our results suggested that multi-channel template is meaningful and effective for real-time detection. Spike activities can be detected with a delay of about 2 s. We also designed an simple user-friendly monitor interface for monitor and review spike events in real-time. © 2011 IEEE.

The day time nap sleep has the significant prophylactic function to our health and working efficiency. In this study, the prediction of sleep level for day time short nap was investigated. The ultimate purpose was to develop the automatic analysis technique for nap sleep interpretation. Firstly, the conditional probabilities of sleep stage awake, stage 1 and stage 2 were calculated for the consecutive data segments based on a set of parameters. Secondly, the sleep level of next data segment was predicted according to the obtained conditional probabilities. The prediction of sleep level reflected the future sleep tendency and was helpful for automatic nap sleep interpretation. © 2011 IEEE.

Set stabilization for Boolean networks which is a kind of genetic regulatory networks is considered in this paper. An algorithm is provided to achieve the set stability for Boolean networks by changing the columns of the transition matrices of Boolean networks. Then, pinning nodes can be selected. Furthermore, pinning control design algorithm is given. Finally, the model for infection of the bacterium is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

In this study, automatic method of sleep stage classification for daytime nap is investigated. The ultimate objective is to identify the changing of sleep level during one's nap. The sleep data is recorded according to the polysomnographic (PSG) measurement. The Electroencephalograph (EEG) is analyzed for sleep stage classification. Totally, 4 parameters are selected and calculated for each 20-second segment of EEG data. The main method is based on Hopfield Neural Network (HNN). The neural network is trained by using standard mode. The sleep stages are classified based on HNN for each consecutive segment. The obtained result showed about 80.6% consistence comparing with the visual inspection. The automatic classification results indicated the changing of sleep level during nap, which can be useful for daytime nap sleep evaluation.

Identifying potential sources of pharmaceuticals and personal care products(PPCPs)in the environment is critical for the effective control of PPCP *** leachate is an important source of PPCPs in water;however,it has barely been involved in source apportionment due to the lack of indicator-PPCPs(i-PPCPs)in landfill *** study provides the first systematic framework for identifying i-PPCPs for landfill leachates based on the wide-scope target monitoring of *** number of target PPCPs increased from<20 in previous studies to 68 in the present ***-nine PPCPs were detected,with median concentrations in leachate samples ranging from below the method quantification limit(MQL)to 41μg/L,and 19 of them were rarely reported previously.A total of 29 target compounds were determined to be PPCPs of high concern by principal component analysis according to multiple criteria,including occurrence,exposure potential,and ecological *** with source-specificity and representativeness analysis,erythromycin,gemfibrozil,and albendazole showed a significant difference in their occurrence in leachate compared to other potential sources(untreated and treated municipal wastewater and livestock wastewater)and correlated with total PPCP concentrations;these were recommended as i-PPCPs for *** screening procedure can be used to develop a sophisticated source apportionment method to identify sources of PPCPs from adjacent landfills.

Dynamic RED: a modified random early detection

Random early detection (RED) is an effective active queue management (AQM) algorithm controlling network congestion by average queue length. However, RED is over-sensitive to congestion degrees and its parameters. To overcome RED's shortcomings, this paper proposes a dynamic RED algorithm named DRED for enhanced performance. Two improvements are made: (1) DRED replaces the linear packet dropping function with a nonlinear function, which gives differential reactions to different network conditions. (2) Adaptation rule is introduced for the maximum packet dropping probability to stabilize the average queue length. By simulation comparisons, the results verify that DRED outperforms the original RED algorithm in terms of stability and robustness. DRED achieves stable average queue length and predictable queuing delay independent of number of TCP connections. Moreover, DRED solves RED's problems without introducing additional variable or much extra overhead. © 2011 Binary Information Press December, 2011.

Coverage optimization is a critical issue in 802.11 Wireless LANs planning problems. In this paper an immune network algorithm named opt-aiNet is studied in order to automatize the planning process by optimizing the BS's (Base Station) sites. Compared the results of opt-aiNet and genetic algorithms(GA) which have been used in radio coverage optimization before, we found that opt-aiNet could find the optimal solution all times while GA falling into local optimum solution sometimes, and opt-aiNet converged more quickly than GA in most cases. Experimental results show that optaiNet is an effective way to optimize the 802.11 Wireless LANs planning problems. © 2010 IEEE.

It is well known that feedback failure increases operating errors in control systems. The objective here is to develop controllers that reduce such operating errors in minimal time, once feedback has been restored. It is shown that there are robust optimal feedback controllers that attain this objective, and that the performance of these controllers can be approximated as closely as desired by bang-bang controllers that are easy to derive and implement. © 2016

Feed property identification of ethylene cracking based on improved fuzzy C-mean clustering algorithm

In ethylene cracking process, the changes of feed have many kinds, and due to its expensive feed analyzer, little industrial site equips with it, so online recognition of oil property is important to achieve cracking online optimization. As the traditional fuzzy C-means algorithm is based on the membership of the strike Euclidean distance, the algorithm contains only the mean center, bringing the unity of clustering results. To take full advantage of effective information of cracking feed, this paper proposes a fuzzy membership set method based on hybrid probabilistic model, namely through the establishment of Gaussian mixture model to achieve describing the probability distribution of clustering sample's affiliation, and use EM algorithm to estimate the model parameter's pole maximum likelihood. The algorithm can not only consider mean center of the sample, but also effectively use sample covariance and the weight coefficient information for mode discrimination. Finally, the simulation is based on classic IRIS data clustering and ethylene cracking feedstock identification, verifying the method described in this paper in the index of dunn and Xiebieni is better than fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm, showing that the method is effective. © All Rights Reserved.
