Self-adaptive iterative hybrid modeling and its application in acetylene hydrogenation process

The reaction mechanism of chemical process is complex. There is a modeling error between the mechanism model and the actual reaction system. At the same time, there are complex slow time-varying features, such as catalyst deactivation, fuel coking, etc. Thus there will be a mismatch between the process model and the actual process system. A self-adaptive iterative hybrid model (SAIHM) is established to reflect the dynamic characteristics of the process accurately over a long period. The mechanism model and the data-driven model are effectively combined to improve the prediction accuracy of the model;the data-driven model uses the deep recurrent neural network (DRNN) to fully exploit the timing relationship between adjacent conditions;the data-driven model is automatically updated based on the evaluation indicators to resolve the contradiction between accuracy and efficiency. The simulation and comparison results of the self-adaptive iterative hybrid model and the existing mechanism model established based on the historical operation data of an acetylene hydrogenation adiabatic reactor show that the self-adaptive iterative hybrid model can more effectively track the actual system. © All Right Reserved.

Learning over massive data stored in different locations is essential in many real-world applications. However, sharing data is full of challenges due to the increasing demands of privacy and security with the growing use of smart mobile devices and IoT devices. Federated learning provides a potential solution to privacy-preserving and secure machine learning, by means of jointly training a global model without uploading data distributed on multiple devices to a central server. However, most existing work on federated learning adopts machine learning models with full-precision weights, and almost all these models contain a large number of redundant parameters that do not need to be transmitted to the server, consuming an excessive amount of communication costs. To address this issue, we propose a federated trained ternary quantization (FTTQ) algorithm, which optimizes the quantized networks on the clients through a self-learning quantization factor. Theoretical proofs of the convergence of quantization factors, unbiasedness of FTTQ, as well as a reduced weight divergence are given. On the basis of FTTQ, we propose a ternary federated averaging protocol (T-FedAvg) to reduce the upstream and downstream communication of federated learning systems. Empirical experiments are conducted to train widely used deep learning models on publicly available datasets, and our results demonstrate that the proposed T-FedAvg is effective in reducing communication costs and can even achieve slightly better performance on non-IID data in contrast to the canonical federated learning algorithms. This paper is concerned with the problem of robust control for uncertain impulsive systems with input constraints. The parametric uncertainties are assumed to be time-varying and norm-bounded. The input constraints under consideration are novel reverse polytopic constraints avoiding a set of specified input values. Via the designed state feedback switching control law, the input constraints can be satisfied. Moreover, by applying the Lyapunov function theory, sufficient conditions for robust stabilization and control are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

This paper is concerned with synchronization in a network with two different types of interactions, formulated by multilayer networks. A switching law between the two layers is proposed, which follows a Bernoulli distribution. An appropriate mathematical model is constructed firstly to describe multilayer networks with stochastic switching layers. Then a mean square synchronization criterion is derived, which is followed by an alternative sufficient condition. Comparisons with the existing work are also included. Finally, an example is given to verify the theoretical results. © 2017 IEEE.

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cells(PSCs), due to their high power conversion efficiency(PCE) and low cost, have been considered as one of the most promising photovoltaic devices. Welldistributed large-grain perovskite crystals play an important role for light adsorption and charge ***, high quality perovskite crystals closely relate to the preparation method. Generally, the preparation of perovskite films requires a nitrogen atmosphere and toxic anti-solvents, which hinder their practical applications. Here, we reported a novel and simple solution evaporation process followed with a methylammonium iodide(MAI) solution immersion to prepare high quality perovskite films. Porous lead iodide(PbI_2) films were firstly formed by evaporation of PbI_2 precursor solution. The obtained porous PbI_2 films were completely transformed into well-distributed large-grain perovskite films after a quick MAI solution immersion. As a result, the corresponding PCE was enhanced by 30% compared to that prepared with a regular sequential deposition. This solution evaporation method provides a convenient and practical way for preparing high-quality perovskite films.

Sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) is a competitive solid sorbent for CO2 capture from humid flue gas because of its high abundance, low energy consumption and no by-products. However, slow kinetics of sorption process limit this technology to be a practical option for large-scale power plants. The very first step to improve its kinetics is to understand the rate-limiting steps of the carbonation reaction in this gas-solid system. Two possible scenarios that could result in diffusion control of the reaction rate have been investigated, including counter diffusion of ion defects between NaHCO3/Na2CO3 layers (Scenario 1) and one-way diffusion of molecule in NaHCO3 layer (Scenario 2). The bicarbonate groups and proton formation on NaHCO3 surface was observed on picosecond time scales. We calculated the formation energies of H+ vacancy (VH+)/interstitial Na+ (INa+) in bulk NaHCO3 (0.03 eV) and interstitial H+ (IH+)/Na+ vacancy (VNa+) in bulk Na2CO3 (0.89 eV). The diffusion barriers of VH+ and INa+ in bulk NaHCO3 were 0.27 eV and 0.77 eV, respectively. We have also identified that CO2 diffusion in bulk NaHCO3 is much more energetically unfavorable. Our results indicate that Na2CO3 bulk carbonation reaction is followed by Scenario 1 and INa+ diffusion in bulk NaHCO3 is the rate-limiting step. © Asia-Pacific Conference on Combustion, ASPACC *** right reserved.

In this paper, the problem of event-triggered mixed H ∞ and passive control for a class of time delay stochastic Markov jump systems subject to input constraint is addressed. In order to reduce network burden, a useful event-triggered scheme is proposed. Then, due to network-induced delays, a time-delay model analysis approach is used to reconstruct the system. Analysis and design methods of the state feedback event-triggered controller are derived to ensure that the resulting system is stochastically stable and satisfies mixed H ∞ and passive performance index. Sufficient conditions are obtained in terms of liner matrix inequalities. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper proposes a framework for solving high-dimensional robust multi-objective optimization problems. A decision variable classification-based framework is developed to search for robust Pareto-optimal solutions. The decision variables are classified as highly and weakly robustness-related variables based on their contributions to the robustness of candidate solutions. In the case study, an order scheduling problem in the apparel industry is investigated via the proposed framework. The experimental results reveal that the performance of robust evolutionary optimization can be greatly improved via analyzing the properties of decision variables and then decomposing the high-dimensional robust multiobjective optimization problem. © 2018 Association for Computing Machinery.

A series of（SiO2/MgO/ID/MgCl2）·TiClx Ziegler-Natta catalysts for propylene polymerization has been prepared with a new method. These catalysts were synthesized using soluble Mg-compounds as the Mg-source and the preparation progress was relatively simple. The catalyst could copy the spherical shape of the carrier very well. The propylene polymerization results showed that the catalyst revealed the best activity with 9,9-di（methoxymethyl）fluorene（BMMF） as internal donor at 50 °C with the optimal molar ratio Al/Ti = 5, which was much lower than what the industrial polypropylene catalyst used（at least molar ratio Al/Ti = 100）, resulting in great cost saving. Additionally, the polymerization kinetics of the catalyst exhibited very stable property after achieving a relatively high value. These catalysts possessed rather high activity and good hydrogen response. The isotactic index（Ⅱ.） value of the PP products could be higher than 98% in the presence of both internal and external electron donors. Moreover, temperature rising elution fractionation method was used to understand the influence of donors and H2 on the properties of the PP products.
