Misuse of antibiotics drives the spread of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). Although reducing residual antibiotic concentrations can help curb ARG proliferation, the biodegradation and transformation of antibiotic stereoisomers may exacerbate resistance development. However, the impact of antibiotic enantiomers on ARG proliferation remains poorly understood. This study employed metagenomic analysis to investigate the enantiomer-specific selection and resistance risks of chiral antibiotic ofloxacin (OFL) and its ( S )-enantiomer, levofloxacin (LEV), in activated sludge. Results showed that LEV primarily promoted the enrichment of ARGs related to aminoglycoside and mupirocin resistance by selecting for pathogenic bacteria carrying virulence factors under high toxicity stress. OFL-driven ARG proliferation involved more diverse mechanisms, including increased gene mobility, co-selection with heavy metals, broader host range, and elevated pathogenicity. The antibiotic resistome risk index (ARRI) further demonstrated a higher environmental risk under OFL treatment than LEV. These findings offer critical insights into the enantioselective resistance risks posed by chiral antibiotics.

This study provides insights into the distillation sequence optimization of refinery system in a methanol to propylene plant with extractive distillation under multiple conditions. The simulated annealing algorithm(SA) with relative cost function was used to solve a meaningful optimization problem. It was observed that different conditions had differed on the flowsheet. Case study shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Equipment selection for industrial process usually requires the extensive participation of industrial experts and technologists, which causes a serious waste of resources. This work presents an equipment selection knowledge base system for industrial styrene process(S-ESKBS) based on the ontology technology. This structure includes a low-level knowledge base and a top-level interactive application. As the core part of the S-ESKBS, the low-level knowledge base consists of the equipment selection ontology library, equipment selection rule set and Pellet inference engine. The top-level interactive application is implemented using S-ESKBS, including the parsing storage layer, inference query layer and client application layer. Case studies for the industrial styrene process equipment selection of an analytical column and an alkylation reactor are demonstrated to show the characteristics and implementability of the S-ESKBS.

This paper studies the sliding mode control for T-S fuzzy systems in the framework of finite-time boundedness. It is assumed that the control signals are transmitted via vulnerable channels, where injection attacks might happen. A fuzzy sliding mode controller is firstly synthesized to guarantee the finite-time reachability of the prescribed sliding surface and attenuate the effect of the injection attacks. By introducing a partitioning strategy, the finite-time boundedness over both the reaching phase and the sliding motion phase are analyzed. Furthermore, sufficient criteria are derived such that the closed-loop system is finite-time bounded over the whole specified finite-time interval despite of the injection attacks. An optimal algorithm is further provided for searching ideal control gains with fewer energy demands. Finally, a simulation example verifies the proposed sliding mode control approach.
