Learning over massive data stored in different locations is essential in many real-world applications. However, sharing data is full of challenges due to the increasing demands of privacy and security with the growing use of smart mobile devices and IoT devices. Federated learning provides a potential solution to privacy-preserving and secure machine learning, by means of jointly training a global model without uploading data distributed on multiple devices to a central server. However, most existing work on federated learning adopts machine learning models with full-precision weights, and almost all these models contain a large number of redundant parameters that do not need to be transmitted to the server, consuming an excessive amount of communication costs. To address this issue, we propose a federated trained ternary quantization (FTTQ) algorithm, which optimizes the quantized networks on the clients through a self-learning quantization factor. Theoretical proofs of the convergence of quantization factors, unbiasedness of FTTQ, as well as a reduced weight divergence are given. On the basis of FTTQ, we propose a ternary federated averaging protocol (T-FedAvg) to reduce the upstream and downstream communication of federated learning systems. Empirical experiments are conducted to train widely used deep learning models on publicly available datasets, and our results demonstrate that the proposed T-FedAvg is effective in reducing communication costs and can even achieve slightly better performance on non-IID data in contrast to the canonical federated learning algorithms. Nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) has been widely applied in the chemical industry for its performance of dealing with the multiple input multiple output problem (MIMO) and handling constraints. However, the performance of NMPC would be affected by the accuracy of the model. The NMPC controller has to be robust to uncertainties in the model. In this paper, the scenario-tree based on multi-stage NMPC approach has been applied to the semi-batch polymerization reactor. In this approach, in order to ensure the reasonableness of the uncertain variables and scenario tree number, a Monte Carlo-based second-order nonlinear model and K-means cluster algorithm have been proposed. The weights of each scenario branches are also considered into variable. The simulation results show that the performance of the improved method is better and the variable weights has a good ability of improving the performance of controller.

For the upcoming China Ⅵ gasoline standard with much more strictly controlled properties, and high requirements for blending efficiency, a blending process and coordinated optimization algorithm for blending multiple brands of gasoline at the same time were developed. Octane number model, vapor pressure model, density model, distillation range model and content attribute model were established. The calculation process of octane number model and distillation range model have been improved, and 12 quality indicators of gasoline can be precisely monitored during the blending process. Considering the actual accumulative blending process, the properties of gasoline in the tank during the blending process should be converted into instantaneous properties zone at the blending head. The optimized properties of the blending head are used to compensate the properties deviation of the amount of blending and the tank bottom oil. Meanwhile, a reasonable and efficient coordination optimization algorithm is used to coordinate the upper limit of the common component oil, which solves the problem of scramble for the common component oil flow in the double blending head in the blending process. The simulation results show that the design method can be applied to the gasoline blending of double head in the field, and can also provide technical support for the upgrading of gasoline blending process under the China Ⅵ gasoline standard. © 2019, Editorial Office of Acta Petrolei Sinica(Petroleum processing Section). Exploring Si/Mg Composite Supported Ziegler-Natta Ti-based Catalysts for Propylene Polymerization

A series of（SiO2/MgO/ID/MgCl2）·TiClx Ziegler-Natta catalysts for propylene polymerization has been prepared with a new method. These catalysts were synthesized using soluble Mg-compounds as the Mg-source and the preparation progress was relatively simple. The catalyst could copy the spherical shape of the carrier very well. The propylene polymerization results showed that the catalyst revealed the best activity with 9,9-di（methoxymethyl）fluorene（BMMF） as internal donor at 50 °C with the optimal molar ratio Al/Ti = 5, which was much lower than what the industrial polypropylene catalyst used（at least molar ratio Al/Ti = 100）, resulting in great cost saving. Additionally, the polymerization kinetics of the catalyst exhibited very stable property after achieving a relatively high value. These catalysts possessed rather high activity and good hydrogen response. The isotactic index（Ⅱ.） value of the PP products could be higher than 98% in the presence of both internal and external electron donors. Moreover, temperature rising elution fractionation method was used to understand the influence of donors and H2 on the properties of the PP products.

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cells(PSCs), due to their high power conversion efficiency(PCE) and low cost, have been considered as one of the most promising photovoltaic devices. Welldistributed large-grain perovskite crystals play an important role for light adsorption and charge ***, high quality perovskite crystals closely relate to the preparation method. Generally, the preparation of perovskite films requires a nitrogen atmosphere and toxic anti-solvents, which hinder their practical applications. Here, we reported a novel and simple solution evaporation process followed with a methylammonium iodide(MAI) solution immersion to prepare high quality perovskite films. Porous lead iodide(PbI_2) films were firstly formed by evaporation of PbI_2 precursor solution. The obtained porous PbI_2 films were completely transformed into well-distributed large-grain perovskite films after a quick MAI solution immersion. As a result, the corresponding PCE was enhanced by 30% compared to that prepared with a regular sequential deposition. This solution evaporation method provides a convenient and practical way for preparing high-quality perovskite films.

The Ethylene cracking is highly nonlinear, complex process with many constraints because of the complex running state of cracking furnace groups. For the solutions to multi-objective problems of yield, cost and benefits, this paper puts forward a biogeography-based multi-objective optimization algorithm with hybrid migration（BBMOHM）. The hybrid migration strategy combines the self-adaptive migration with the simplex operator and the replication migration, which strengthens the convergence and the search ability, to avoid falling into local optimum. For the goal of utilizing the dominance information between individuals, this algorithm adopts the migration model of dominance degree to assist migration strategies improving the performance of the algorithm. Finally, experiments about the ZDT test function and the multi-objective optimization problem of the ethylene cracking process is verified the BBMOHM achieves good performance on convergence and distribution.

This paper presents a robust control scheme for the tracking control of singularly perturbed uncertain systems. The design problem is divided into two parts: tracking the reference trajectory and enhancing the robustness of the dynamic *** using the time-scale techniques, dynamic inversion approach and linear parameter-varying methods, a set of singularly perturbed state feedback controllers are employed to enhance the tracking performance and robustness of a dynamic system against parameter uncertainties, actuator and sensor unmodelled dynamics, and external disturbances. The longitudinal control of an F16 aircraft model is included to show the merits and and effectiveness of the proposed design scheme.

In this paper, a distributed event-triggered algorithm has considered for formation problem in second-order multi-agent system with fixed independent position and velocity interaction topologies. For each agent, the involved controller is designed to be updated by time instant that is determined by the local and current sampling data. Based on the Lyapunov control approach, a sufficient criterion has been derived that the desired formation shape can be ensured. Moreover, it is shown that the Zeno phenomenon can be excluded, and an extra control input has been utilized to implement obstacle avoidance. Finally, a numerical simulation is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

This paper concerns the input-output model identification and zone model predictive control of an agro-hydrological system modeled by a partial differential equation. The primary control objective is to maintain the soil moisture within a desired range which is suitable for grass grow. There is also a secondary control objective which is to reduce the total irrigation amount. First, a linear parameter varying (LPV) model is identified for controller design purpose using a maximum likelihood gradient-based iterative estimation method. Then, based on the LPV model, a zone model predictive control (MPC) is designed which uses an output disturbance and state observer to reduce model-plant mismatch and an asymmetric target zone to reduce irrigation amount under weather uncertainties while maintaining the soil moisture within the target range. Simulation studies show that the LPV model is a good approximation of the original nonlinear model and effectively reduces the online computational load of the MPC, and that the proposed zone MPC can lead to significant water conservation. © 2018

This paper is concerned with synchronization in a network with two different types of interactions, formulated by multilayer networks. A switching law between the two layers is proposed, which follows a Bernoulli distribution. An appropriate mathematical model is constructed firstly to describe multilayer networks with stochastic switching layers. Then a mean square synchronization criterion is derived, which is followed by an alternative sufficient condition. Comparisons with the existing work are also included. Finally, an example is given to verify the theoretical results. © 2017 IEEE.
