Multimode process Monitoring Based on the Density-Based Support Vector Data Description

Complex industry processes often need multiple operation modes to meet the change of production conditions. In the same mode,there are discrete samples belonging to this mode. Therefore,it is important to consider the samples which are sparse in the *** solve this issue,a new approach called density-based support vector data description( DBSVDD) is proposed. In this article,an algorithm using Gaussian mixture model( GMM) with the DBSVDD technique is proposed for process monitoring. The GMM method is used to obtain the center of each mode and determine the number of the modes. Considering the complexity of the data distribution and discrete samples in monitoring process,the DBSVDD is utilized for process monitoring. Finally,the validity and effectiveness of the DBSVDD method are illustrated through the Tennessee Eastman( TE) process.

The model reduction problem is studied in this work for the switched genetic regulatory networks（GRNs） with timevarying delays. The attention is focused on constructing a reduced-order model to approximate the considered high-order GRNs under that the switching signal is subject to some certain constraints, such that the error system between the original system and the reduced-order one is exponentially stable with a weighted H∞ performance. By utilizing the bounding technique as well as the dwell time method, the stability conditions and the weighted H performance are established for the error system. Then, the solvability conditions for the reduced-order models for the GRNs are also established by using the projection method. Finally,numerical simulation is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Robust semi-global leader-following practical consensus of a group of linear systems with imperfect actuators

This paper considers the problem of semi-global leader-following consensus of a multi-agent system whose agent dynamics are represented by linear systems. The input output characteristics of the follower agent actuators, such as those of saturation and dead-zone, are imperfect, not precisely known, and subject to the effect of disturbances. Two consensus control algorithms, of the low-and-high gain feedback type and the low gain based variable structure control type, are proposed for solving the consensus problem. It is shown that both of these control algorithms achieve semi-global leader-following practical consensus in the presence of the imperfectness of the actuators when the communication topology among the follower agents is represented by a strongly connected and detailed balanced directed graph and the leader agent is a neighbor of at least one follower agent. The theoretical results are illustrated by numerical simulation.

Gaussian mixture model (GMM) monitoring method is commonly used for non-Gaussian process monitoring. In GMM monitoring method, the final number of Gaussian components and the statistical distribution parameters are estimated through the improved Figueiredo-Jain (F-J) algorithm in the modeling phase. However, the data dimensionality of modern industry is high, the number of initial Gaussian components is large for the accuracy of the algorithm. Under this condition, the relative small number of samplings makes the denominator in the weight estimation formula of the improved F-J algorithm become zero and the algorithm suspends. To make the algorithm work well in an acceptable modeling time, we deduce the Initial-Parameter-Criterion among initial Gaussian components, data dimension, sampling number and propose the Initial-Parameter-Criterion based GMM (IPC-GMM) monitoring method. The proposed monitoring method is used for TE process monitoring, simulation results reveal the effectiveness and necessity of IPC-GMM monitoring method.

The disturbance in chemical process is complex and has the multiple characteristics,and the control performance assessment of multivariable system with multiple disturbances is one of the hot *** this paper,the control performance assessment method of multivariable systems,based on multi-time-variant-disturbances mixing generalized minimum variance(MMGMV),is ***,the generalized minimum variance control is introduced into the multivariable system performance assessment,and the weight matrix is designed according to the time-varying control ***,the multivariable MMGMV controller is designed combining with the idea of multi-model weights mixing for all multi-time-varying ***,the output variance of each controlled variable is obtained using MMGMV *** average variance of controlled variable in the MMGMV controller acts as the criterion of performance assessment,and combining with the output variance of actual controller for the controller performance *** with the minimum variance benchmark,the developed method is more reasonable and practical for the control performance assessment of multivariable *** developed approach is demonstrated by a numerical simulation and a heavy oil fractionation of process control system.

Scatter Search Based Particle Swarm optimization Algorithm for Earliness/Tardiness Flowshop Scheduling with Uncertainty

Considering the imprecise nature of the data in real-world problems, the earliness/tardiness （E/T） fiowshop scheduling problem with uncertain processing time and distinct due windows is concerned in this paper. A fuzzy scheduling model is established and then transformed into a deterministic one by employing the method of maximizing the membership function of middle value. Moreover, an effective scatter search based particle swarm optimization （SSPSO） algorithm is proposed to minimize the sum of total earliness and tardiness penalties. The proposed SSPSO algorithm incorporates the scatter search （SS） algorithm into the frame of particle swarm optimization （PSO） algorithm and gives full play to their characteristics of fast convergence and high diversity. Besides, a differential evolution （DE） scheme is used to generate solutions in the SS. In addition, the dynamic update strategy and critical conditions are adopted to improve the performance of SSPSO. The simulation results indicate the superiority of SSPSO in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.

The use of bio-based resources for the production of added value products has become a key element of sustainable development. In this regard, biorefinery is a recognized approach to transforming renewable feedstocks into fuels, chemicals, and materials. However, the integration of chemicals production into current biorefineries is challenging. This route is the least developed and most complex of all biorefinery operations and bio-based chemicals suffer from direct competition with oil-based counterparts. Additionally, the overabundance of targets makes difficulty the decision making for companies. As such, there is a need to identify a core group of primary chemicals and secondary intermediates analogous to those in the petrochemical industry, including products with well-established value chains. To address some of these challenges, this work intends to contribute with ideas for the use of glycerol as a feedstock for polymers production. These polymers may be produced directly from glycerol or from some organic acid derived from glycerol. Such organic acids are in general flexible building blocks which may result in polymers for several applications, such as packaging materials and textile fibers, insulation foam, electronics and car parts. Among organic acids, succinic acid and lactic acid has a great potential to be used in the production of specialty polymers for medical implants because these materials can combine biodegradability with biocompatibility. Bearing this in mind, potential conversion routes of glycerol to lactic acid-derived specialty polymers are discussed in this work. Copyright © 2018, AIDIC Servizi S.r.l.
