Algorithm of Detecting and Filling Small Holes in Triangular Mesh Surface

In some scattered point cloud triangular mesh restoration algorithm, small triangular mesh holes problem will often affect the quality of the model. For small holes at the details, this paper propose a method for identifying and extracting hollow edge,and use a triangle growth way based on boundary edge angle to fill the empty void. First, according the relationship of the point, side and face of the triangle mesh model to identify the hole, then extracting the holes boundary edge and classifying it. Finally, using a triangle growth method based on holes boundary edge angle to fill each small holes separated from the boundary. Compared with other algorithm of filling holes, this method is high efficiency for small holes of smooth surface,and itimprovesthe quality of the triangular mesh model.

Background: Total talar replacement (TTR) using a personalized customized total talar prosthesis (TTP) is an emerging and promising surgical option for the treatment of ankle problems. However, how to solve ankle instability after total talar replacement, and the influence of related solutions on foot biomechanics has not been investigated. Methods: Our preliminary studies have found that enlarging a personalized total talar prosthesis (TTP0) by 1.5 % along the coronal axis (TTP-FP1.5) and reconstructing the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) significantly can enhance ankle stability. However, there is a lack of insight into the effect of the two options on biomechanics. Consequently, this work constructed anatomically detailed finite element models of the foot, including an intact model and four surgical models, including replacement of TTP0, replacement of TTP-FP1.5, and two models of TTP-coupled ATFL reconstruction. Biomechanical differences were evaluated by numerical simulation of a balanced-standing and three characteristic instants of the stand phase. Results: Changes in plantar pressure distribution, joint contact pressure and force transmission, von Mises stress on bone, and prosthesis stress were predicted and analyzed. It was found that significant changes in foot biomechanics occurred after TTP-FP1.5 replacement compared to TTP0 replacement. In contrast, no ligament reconstruction versus ATFL reconstruction exerts a minor effect on biomechanics. Conclusion: The findings indicate that the shape of the prosthesis is the primary factor affecting foot biomechanics after total talar replacement. In contrast, reconstruction of the ATFL has only a minimal effect on the biomechanics of the foot. The above findings will provide a solid basis for the improvement of TTR surgical plans in clinical. © 2025 European Foot and Ankle Society

An Improved Virtual Spherical Lights Approach for Glossy Illumination

Based on a virtual spherical light source method, this paper presents an improved virtual spherical lights approach for glossy illumination by modifying a reflection render equation. First, in order to keep primitive spherical lights, it uses non-zero solid angle integration instead of a geometric item of traditional Instant Radiosity arithmetic. Second, the formula mode for the light energy allocation of VSLs is improved by the energy distribution, in which the radius of sphere is replaced by the radius of inscribed circle generated by the tangent to the non-zero solid angle of cone. Third, the similar function of judging two point visibility takes place of a cosine term in the approximate equations of the VSLs. Experiments show that blurring or disappearing phenomenon that appear in part of right-angle surface scene is avoided.

Fast assignment reduction in inconsistent incomplete decision systems

This paper focuses on fast algorithm for computing the assignment reduct in inconsistent incomplete decision systems. It is quite inconvenient to judge the assignment reduct directly ac-cording to its definition. We propose the judgment theorem for the assignment reduct in the inconsistent incomplete decision system, which greatly simplifies judging this type reduct. On such basis, we derive a novel attribute significance measure and construct the fast assignment reduction algorithm （F-ARA）, intended for com-puting the assignment reduct in inconsistent incomplete decision systems. Final y, we make a comparison between F-ARA and the discernibility matrix-based method by experiments on 13 Univer-sity of California at Irvine （UCI） datasets, and the experimental results prove that F-ARA is efficient and feasible.

A broadband transmissive linear-to-circular polarization conversion metamaterial composed of 5-layer '-shaped units was designed, and it was placed directly above the ordinary linear polarization antenna so that the antenna can radiate circular polarization waves. The 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 11.5GHz-14.5GHz, and the relative axial ratio bandwidth reaches 23%, which proves that the polarization conversion surface has good polarization conversion characteristics. © 2021 Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES).

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder globally. The eye’s retina is an extension of the brain and has great potential in PD screening. Recent studies have suggested that texture features extracted from retinal layers can be adopted as biomarkers for PD diagnosis under optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. Frequency domain learning techniques can enhance the feature representations of deep neural networks (DNNs) by decomposing frequency components involving rich texture features. Additionally, previous works have not exploited texture features for automated PD screening in OCT. Motivated by the above analysis, we propose a novel Adaptive Wavelet Filter (AWF) that serves as the Practical Texture Feature Amplifier to fully leverage the merits of texture features to boost the PD screening performance of DNNs with the aid of frequency domain learning. Specifically, AWF first enhances texture feature representation diversities via channel mixer, then emphasizes informative texture feature representations with the well-designed adaptive wavelet filtering token mixer. By combining the AWFs with the DNN stem, AWFNet is constructed for automated PD screening. Additionally, we introduce a novel Balanced Confidence (BC) Loss by mining the potential of sample-wise predicted probabilities of all classes and class frequency prior, to further boost the PD screening performance and trustworthiness of AWFNet. The extensive experiments manifest the superiority of our AWFNet and BC over state-of-the-art methods in terms of PD screening performance and trustworthiness. © 2025, CC BY-NC-SA.

By building a model of an air conditioning system with a solar-coupled ground-source heat pump, the simulation shows that the pump has been running at its maximum load, especially in terms of energy consumption. In order to solve this problem, the variable frequency drive (VFD) pump is adopted. Only the variable frequency of the water pump at the load side and the water pump at the source side has been considered, and the flow rate of the pump is determined according to the load value. The solar side water pump does not adopt frequency conversion to operate at the maximum flow to ensure the maximum utilization of solar energy. When the load side water pump and the source side water pump adopt frequency conversion, this will not only cause a change in flow but also a change in the power consumption of the unit, which will further affect the unit's operating performance. On the other hand, based on the simulation results of the load, the cooling capacity is greater than the heating capacity, which will cause the soil temperature to rise, that is, the soil temperature will be out of balance. Therefore, it is necessary to add a cooling tower to dissipate the temperature of the buried pipe in summer. The total energy consumption of the system is 22,411,541 kW, which is 27% less than the conventional energy consumption. In summer, the COP of the unit is about 6.9, which is 42% higher than the conventional situation. And in winter, the COP is about 4.8, which is 27% higher than the conventional model. © 2020 Geothermal Resources Council. All rights reserved.

With the fast development of Internet technology and information processing technology, the image is commonly transmitted via the Internet. People enjoy the convenience and shortcut, but people have to face to the obsession that the important image information in transmission is easily intercepted by unknown persons or hackers. In order to enhance the image information security, image encryption becomes an important research direction. An image encryption algorithm based on DNA sequences for the big image is presented in this paper. The main purpose of this algorithm is to reduce the big image encryption time. This algorithm is implemented by using the natural DNA sequences as main keys. The first part is the process of pixel scrambling. The original image is confused in the light of the scrambling sequence is generated by the DNA sequence. The second part is the process of pixel replacement. The pixel gray values of the new image and the one of the three encryption templates are generated by the other DNA sequence are XORed bit-by-bit in turn. The experimental result demonstrates that the image encryption algorithm is feasible and simple. Through performance analysis, this algorithm is robust against all kinds of attacks and owns higher security. © 2010 IEEE.
