Computational neuroscience is interdisciplinary and plays an essential role in facilitating the development of cognitive neuroscience and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). To explore the computational efficiency of Spiking Neural Network (SNN) on a computational hardware platform, we deploy SNN on the Xilinx Zynq7 Zedboard Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Specifically, we use multi-compartmental Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) neuron model to construct neural circuits via C++ code and adopt a biologically plausible calcium concentration-based plasticity model as the learning rule of SNN. Our experimental results show that the FPGA platform can support parallel computation of the multi-compartment HH model with synaptic plasticity. Compared to other methods, FPGA-based computing has a significant speed advantage, suggesting that FPGA can be a good choice for implementing brain-inspired computation. © 2021 IEEE.

Intuition process is a very essential in the product creative design stage. A new creative design approach is put forward based on product gene and intuition models. The product gene model and its sequential gene manipulation are established. The intuition process reflects that the thinking of human brain produces qualitative change. An approach of intuition simulation is used by Hebb learning law, Hopfield neural networks and crossover and mutation. The calculating models and the calculating formulas for the creative design are put forward. Finally, this essay offers us the applied examples for creative design of solar energy portable lamp. The better results are obtained in the creative design. ©2010 IEEE.

Palmprint recognition using phase congruency and region-based orientation code

In this paper, a novel palmprint recognition method by a combination of phase congruency model and region-based orientation code approach is proposed. Palmprint phase congruency feature images are firstly achieved by the multi-scale and multi-orientation 2D Log-Gabor wavelet filters. Then, a region orientation code approach, which is based on the orientation competition result of the sub-region images, is put forward to give more compact representation of palmprint phase congruency feature images. The proposed palmprint recognition method can provide more robust discriminant feature. The experiment results on the public PolyU palmprint database show the good recognition performance of proposed method. © Copyright 2016 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.

The three-dimensional human body feature parameters extracted by the neural network method are coupled in the high-dimensional feature space. The fully connected network processes the three-dimensional human pose and shape feature information synchronously, which cannot handle multifactor features well, which makes the model perform poorly. To solve this problem, on the basis of the benchmark network, a decoupling model is added, which processes the three-dimensional human pose and shape information separately, and finally integrates the features through the bi-linear transformation method. Through experimental verification, the algorithm effectively reduces the reconstruction error, and the improved algorithm performs better. © 2021 IEEE.

Energy time series are characterized by stochasticity, short-term periodicity, and long-term periodicity. Many traditional models such as the autoregressive model, Gaussian process regression are unable to capture the complex time relationships of energy time series. Recurrent neural networks (RNNs), which are widely used for energy time series forecasting, are prone to gradient disappearance or gradient explosion when processing a long sequence data. Thus, RNNs are failed to capture the complete information of the whole long sequence data. To extract complex irregular patterns of energy time series and selectively learn spatio-temporal features, a Temporal Attention Convolution Network (TACN) is proposed in this paper. This structure can extract spatial and temporal features of energy time series, which full filled with our demand. Firstly, to solve the problem that RNNs are prone to information loss when processing the long sequence data, a temporal convolutional network (TCN) is introduced. TCN enables the output to capture the complete information of the whole long sequence data. Then, to reinforce the TCN for extracting effective spatio-temporal features, Squeeze-and-Excitation Network (SENet), a module for computing channel attention, was introduced to this TCN structure. By applying this module, the ability of the acquisition of important channel information has been enhanced. Finally, to further improve the robustness of the model, an autoregressive linear module is constructed to capture the linear relationship among the variables. Experiments on the publicly available datasets Electricity and Solar-Energy show that compare with existing deep learning models, TACN achieves more ideal performance. © 2022 SPIE. In underground communication systems, continuous mud pulse signals are susceptible to pump noise during transmission, resulting in a high bit error rate(BER). In this paper, a Normal Inner Product Orthogonal Matching Pursuit(NIPOMP) algorithm is proposed for the transmission characteristics of continuous waves in the underground. First, a cyclic prefix(CP) is added in front of the sent data. Then the observation vector is obtained by making a difference between the CP of the latter set of data and the CP of the former set of data. Then, the columns of the sensing matrix that are most correlated with the observation vectors are selected as candidate support sets by calculating the L2 norm. The least squares method was used to solve for the previous set of pump noise estimates. Finally, the pump noise is reconstructed using the correspondence between the time and frequency domains. This paper establishes a complete underground communication system. We discuss the noise characteristics of pump noise and analyze the denoising performance of the NIPOMP algorithm in depth. Simulation results show that the algorithm significantly reduces the system BER in complex channel environments with more drastic fading, including gas-phase, liquid-phase, gas-liquid two-phase, and liquid-solid two-channel environments. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper solves the neural network (NN) tracking control problem for uncertain nonlinear servo system with time-varying parameters and uncertainties. To address the uncertain nonlinear function with unknown time-varying parameters (i.e., unknown nonlinear spatiotemporal function), the time-varying parameter extraction method is used to separate the time-varying parameters from uncertain nonlinear spatiotemporal function, which yields an unknown state-based boundary function. By the tools of NN and adaptive technology, an adaptive neural tracking controller is designed, which guarantees the uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB) performance of the resulting closed-loop system. The effectiveness of the designed method is verified by simulations. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

In this paper,we study a class of nonlinear fractional integro-differential equations,the fractional derivative is described in the Caputo *** the properties of the Caputo derivative,we convert the fractional integro-differential equations into equivalent integral-differential equations of Volterra type with singular kernel,then we propose and analyze a spectral Jacobi-collocation approximation for nonlinear integro-differential equations of Volterra *** provide a rigorous error analysis for the spectral methods,which shows that both the errors of approximate solutions and the errors of approximate fractional derivatives of the solutions decay exponentially in L^(∞)-norm and weighted L^(2)-norm.
