LARGE-EDDY SIMULATION OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL VORTICAL STRUCTURES FOR AN IMPINGING TRANSVERSE JET IN THE NEAR REGION

The three-dimensional vortical structures for an impinging transverse jet in the near region were numerically investigated by means of Large-Eddy Simulation （LES）. The LES results reproduced the skewed jet shear layer vortices close to the jet nozzle and the scarf vortex in the near-wall zone in good agreement with the experimental observations. Different vortical modes in the skewed jet shear layer close to the jet nozzle were identified depending upon the velocity ratio between jet and crossflow, namely changing from an approximately axisymmetric mode to a helical one with the velocity ratios varying from 20 to 8. Moreover, the scarf vortex wrapped around the impinging jet in the near-wall zone showed distinct asymmetry with regard to its bilateral spiral legs within the near region. And the entrainment of the ambient crossflow fluids by the scarf vortex in the near-wall zone was appreciably influenced by its asymmetry and in a large part occurred on the surface of the spiral roller structures in the course of spreading downstream.

Quantum-confined CsPbBr_(3) perovskites are promising blue emitters for ultra-high-definition displays,but their soft lattice caused by highly ionic nature has a limited ***,we endow CsPbBr_(3) nanoplatelets(NPLs)with atomic crystal-like structural rigidity through proper surface engineering,by using strongly bound N-dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid(DBSA).A stable,rigid crystal structure,as well as uniform,orderly-arranged surface of these NPLs is achieved by optimizing intermediate reaction stage,by switching from molecular clusters to mono-octahedra,while interaction with DBSA resulted in formation of a Cs_(x)O monolayer shell capping the NPL *** a result,both structural and optical stability of the CsPbBr3 NPLs is enhanced by strong covalent bonding of DBSA,which inhibits undesired phase transitions and decomposition of the perovskite phase potentially caused by ligand ***,rather small amount of DBSA ligands at the NPL surface results in a short inter-NPL spacing in their closely-packed films,which facilitates efficient charge injection and *** photoluminescence of the produced CsPbBr_(3) NPLs is bright(nearly unity emission quantum yield)and peaks at 457 nm with an extremely narrow bandwidth of 3.7 nm at 80 K,while the bandwidth of the electroluminescence(peaked at 460 nm)also reaches a record-narrow value of 15 nm at room *** value corresponds to the CIE coordinates of(0.141,0.062),which meets Rec.2020 standards for ultra-high-definition displays.

In order to provide silicon microdisplay drivers a wide tuning range clock and solve the problem that the tuning range of VCO is not wide enough, a wide tuning range multi-band feedforward differential delay cell based on CMOS inverter is proposed in this paper. The cell achieves the wide-tuned multi-band effect by adjusting the control voltage (VCTRL) and the control voltage sequence bits. In the HLMC 55LP process, the differential VCO can be adjusted from 3.92GHz to 8.63GHz to achieve a wide tuning range of multi-band output with a FOM of −157.02dBc/Hz.

Rate control plays a very important role in video streaming applications. The currently adopted rate control scheme in the latest video coding standard H.264/AVC still results in a relatively large quality fluctuation especially for frames with higher motion activities. In this paper, we consider the characteristics of human visual system and incorporate a motion attention model to direct the rate control process. From the motion vector (MV) field at 4times4 block level, motion saliency maps are calculated on multi-scale MV fields and integrated to a whole motion saliency map highlighting the attention regions. In the frame and MB layer of rate control, the number of bits allocated to each frame and each MB is adjusted based on its motion saliency. More bits are allocated those frames and MBs with higher motion saliency to improve their qualities, and thus reduce the quality variation. Experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm can increase the average PSNR by 0.068 dB, and decreases the PSNR variation by 15.65%, with a negligible increase of computation less than 3%.

Laser-assisted glass frit bonding encapsulation (hereafter referred to as Laser bonding) is proposed for encapsulating air sensitive device that need a hermetic package with long-term stability. Laser bonding technology is a typical local non-contact heating technology, which allows temperature-sensitive devices to be used inside cell. With the excellent barrier performance, glass frit play an important role in encapsulation. Many factors such as the particles size, paste viscosity during process and unfairness of the surface morphology caused in screen printing process can cause the formation of defects in glass frit, weakening the barrier properties for blocking moisture and oxygen. We found that high saddle height difference comes out due to improper viscosity and improper printing process. In order to further verify the reliability of the glass laser encapsulation in the temperature output mode, the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of the encapsulated structure was tested using the active metal calcium electrical test method. Finally, we found that the lower saddle height difference is contributes to the smooth surface appearance. Furthermore the lower saddle height difference conducts to lower WVTR.

This paper presents a design of pulse-width modulated (PWM) controller module in a MCU based on MCS-51 structure. The design can generate 2-channel programmable periodic PWM signals. These output PWM signals from MCU can be used for a variety of applications including motor control. The function of the design allows users to select independent or complementary inversion timing relationships between 2 PWM wave forms. The latter mode selection also includes optional dead time function to support driving H-bridges and inverters. Therefore, users can control the output PWM signals through setting the duty-cycle registers. After the successful simulation at the front end, practical experiments made on a NIOS development board verify the design.

Liquid-crystal-on-silicon (LCOS) micro-displays are the advanced displays that integrate silicon very-large-scaled-integration (VLSI) circuits with thin-film-transistor liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCD). Their exhibiting fast response, high brightness, high image quality, low power dissipation and low cost have been developed. The device represents the future development direction of high-end LCD. According to the three primary colors principle, with Field sequential color (FSC) displays, a full color image is divided into three sub-frames in which red, green and blue beams are separately modulated by a single LCOS micro-display in rapid sequence and projected onto a screen. The three images are temporally integrated by the eye over one frame time and a full color image is perceived. This paper provides a scheme for LCOS Field Sequence Color (FSC) interface controller design using Verilog language.

Hand gestures play a natural and intuitive communication mode for human dialogs. A novel method is proposed to analyze pointing gestures. Single un-calibrated camera is employed to determine the pointing target based on the best view selected from multiple cameras. Face skin information is explicitly adopted as view quality for selecting the best view. View measurement has been developed which overcomes the effects of camera view directions and the distances between the user and the camera. No explicit constraints are set on the camera placement. Pointing users can move freely inside a wider interaction environment while pointing at some targets. The mentioned model does not constrain whether the pointing surface is flat or not. During detecting pointing users from a clutter background, multi-scale wavelet features with outstanding local characteristics both in temporal and spatial fields are used which would not require some information necessary for existing methods in literature such as scene learning and training, manual calibration, and a priori hypothesis. Experiments have highlighted that the developed approach is efficient for natural non-wearable pointing recognition by comparison. © 2009 IEEE.

Anti-Blue Light and Hydrophobic Composite Film Based on Iron Oxide and Fas-Modified Sio2

With the wide application of display and lighting devices, the potential injury to human eyes due to the blue light has been attracting significant attention. While current anti-blue light films are complex, costly and low stability in humid environments. In this work, anti-blue light films were fabricated using iron oxide as blue light absorbent and polyvinylpyrrolidone as surfactant, under different Fe3+ concentrations and annealing temperatures. The films exhibited average 60% absorption of blue light in 400-450 nm wavelength range and maintained 96% transmittance within 500-800 nm. Moreover, to improve the hydrophobicity, 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyltriethoxysilane (FAS)-modified SiO2 (FASS) hydrophobic layer was deposited onto the iron oxide films to obtain the composite iron oxide/FASS films. The composite films remained transmittance almost unchanged after 15 days at 85 °C and 85% relative humidity. Also, cell experiments proved that the composite films could protect human retinal pigment epithelium cells from blue light injury. Moreover, the color rendering index of the display screen remained almost unchanged after covered with the composite film, while the blue light-weighted radiance was reduced significantly. © 2024, The Authors.
